Chapter 32: A very tasty piece of News 4
The Jian family house
"Welcome home young master" butler Yan said opening the door wide to let Jian Mengyao in.
"Hello Uncle Yan, sorry for coming in at such a late hour. My flight got held up" Jiang Mengyao said as he changed out of his dress shoes into the house slippers.
He dropped his suitcase by his side and held onto his brown trench coat in one hand while changing into the slippers.
"No need for that young master we have been expecting you" Butler Yan replied
"really? He asked skeptically. It hasn't been an hour since his mother called him back home.
"Yes sir, I was informed of your return by Madam earlier in the day. Your room has been cleared out"
"Oh_ " he said surprised. His mother must have something very important to discuss with him if she made such a detailed preparation.
"Madam's intrucions are that you go up to the study as soon as you arrived. No need to worry about your luggage, I will take it up to your quarters" said butler Yan.
"Oh that's good, Thanks a lot uncle Yan. I will get going" Jian Mengyao said then walked up to his mother's sturdy.
He mother was seated at her desk going through some documents when he walked in. It had been almost a year, since he had been called in here.
His mother never discussed business matters at home those were better done at the company.
Except during an emergency. He was looked forward to this conversation. Since he couldn't quite guess what would make his mother suddenly call him over to the house.
It wasn't because of the company, he had called in to check on the company after getting her call., Since it wasn't a company related affair, it had to be personal.
*knock* *knock*
"Hey mum"
"Xiao Yao come in and shut the door" she said smiling.
"So how have you been mum" he said seating opposite her.
"good, how was your business trip?
"Successful after much consideration I finally closed the deal with Sunshine groups. I will submit my report tomorrow"
"I look forward to reading it" She said closing the file an putting it aside.
"You must be trying to figure out why I suddenly asked for you?
"Yes I am, I know it isn't about work so what's going on mum"
"I called you over to speak with you concerning your relationship with Feng Mimi" She said removing her medicated glasses and placing them next to the documents.
'here we go again' he thought feeling weak.
You would think that since he had been dating Feng Mimi for years his family would have accepted her by now.
"Your grandparents called me over to the old residence two months back after Feng Mimi's scandal with the director" she continued.
"That wasn't true mum. I thought we went over this already. it was totally fabricated by the paparazzi. She had met with him about a project, her manager Lei lan was also present and verified everything"
"are you so stupid as to blindly believe whatever lies that __ girl tells you. I raised you better than that"
"Yes I am because I love her. okay mum so I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. I know Mimi and she isn't like that, she's pure, kind and really sweet she would never do something like that"
"Pure and sweet how amusing. Jian Mengyao you had better snap out of whatever spell she has you under and smell the roses. I have tolerated this sham of a relationship enough"
"Mum aren't you tired of us having this same conversation over and over again. Y never even gave her a chance at all. You just concluded that she was bad news. if you really get to know her better you will find that she's__"
"What a nice girl ? Jian Mengyao snap out of it before you make an irreversible mistake. I already had your uncle's firm investigate her and you would be surprised what they found" She said dropping a thick file infront of him.
"Read this and you will understand just what kind of woman she is. Mengyao this is the last straw. okay don't mess up again. I don't think I can keep defending you to your grandparents" she said.
"I should get going" He stood to leave.
"Please take it with you Xiao Yao and go through it. Just do it for me" She said softly.
"I've got to go mum. see you tomorrow" He said grabbing the file and walked out of the room. He kept walking until he left the house turning a blind ear butler Yan's calls.
Got into his car and drove away. He didn't pay attention to where he was going until he found himself at the packing lot of her former apartment.
It was the very first apartment he had ever bought. Back when he turned 18, it had been his sanctuary. Only a few people knew about this apartment, even Feng Mimi had no idea that it existed.
He had lived here during his University days and a few years later after he graduated.
It had been a bit small so he had bought the condo at Goldline apartments when he started dating Feng Mimi.
Even though he had a much bigger apartment he still kept this apartment. He had grown quite attached. Over the years he contracted a a cleaning company to clean the apartment regularly.
A five minutes he got out of his car still holding onto the file and after locking up walked into the building and took an elevator up to his floor.
The apartment was squeaky clean when he walked in. The cleaning company had informed him that they had sent over a small crew to clean the apartment the day before.
He switched on the light and walked into the apartment. Everything was as he left it, the furniture and other things were all covered up with clothes to keep out the dust.
He was still holding onto the file when he walked into the dinning to find a big brown envelope on the table.
"Huh what's this" he said setting down the file and picking up the envelope. Flipping it over there was a sticky note that read
"PLEASE READ"
What's going on? no one had access to the apartment but the cleaning company and himself. who would drop this here' he thought.
Unsealing the envelope to see the content. The envelope was empty save for a disposable Android phone. with a sticky note that said "turn it on"
Curious he powered up the phone which was pretty much empty save for a file. He opened up the file to find various compromising pictures of Feng Mimi with different men.
Shocked he began going through them all finally finding a copy of the photo that was posted online by a gossip site that caused her scandal.
There was bulk load of pictures on the phone all with time, date and location stamps. At the end was a much recent one dated about a month and half ago.
