Chapter 19: The Jian family doesn't acknowledge her 1
"Madam, Young Master and madam have arrived" Aunty Lu said
"I better go, I will leave everything to you Aunty Lu" Zhao Mei replied and walked out of the kitchen straight into the living room. She hasn't seen Jung Jianguo and Xue Meili since the wedding party. They have been very busy with shooting that even answering her calls was hard. She had finally decided to find out their rest day and fix a family dinner.
"Meili how have you been" Zhao Mei said as she got closer and drew Her into a hug
"Mother" Xue Meili replied. Zhao Mei pulled back said "look now your getting skinny. I know you are busy with work but you have to still take care of yourself. Where's Jianguo I really want to scold him for not taking better care of you"
"Mother, it isn't Jianguo's fault I am on a diet for my role"
"why should you be, I think you are perfect and don't need to lose any more weight. Your becoming more bone than flesh, forget scolding Jianguo I will just go straight and have a chat with Jianyu"
"Ah mother, you don't need to. I will eat more and if the director complains I will call you to have a chat with him"
"Silly girl, come I had Aunty Lu buy your favorite fruits" Zhao Mei holding Xue Meili's hands began guiding her to the table.
"And Jianguo, where's that unfilial son of mine" Zhao Mei said as they ate some cut fruit.
"Jianguo's is chatting with Grandmother and father in the sturdy"
"Workaholic, always too serious for their own good. Meili shouldn't become like them see even Zhillan isn't here yet because of work" She said in fake anger.
"Don't worry mother, they won't take long"
"Of course not or I wouldn't talk to any of them again"
A short while later Aunty Lu reported that she was done cooking and the table was now set. Zhao Mei after thanking her headed to the sturdy to let them know that everything was set.
They were already seated for dinner when Jung Zhillan rushed into the room from work. She greeted everyone and after washing her hands came down for dinner.
"Sorry for coming in late, there was an Emergency surgery" Jung Zhillan said after taking a seat next to Xue Meili.
"it's alright, eh Xiao lan am surprised you're here alone Lin Zhijie didn't come with you" Zhao Mei said smiling. This daughter of hers like her brother took after their father in being so serious. She was initially worried about her daughter's future marriage not until she met Lin Zhijie. She was overjoyed when Zhillan introduced him as her boyfriend Six years ago. He was also a medical Doctor, a General surgeon to be precised even though they weren't in the same area of specialisation they still had a lot in common. She was very satisfied on meeting him, he was handsome and very hard-working.
"Zhijie is busy with work and wouldn't be able to make it" Zhillan replied.
"Remember to tell him not to work so hard. I will have Aunty Lu pack him some side dishes and you can give it to him tomorrow"
'That wouldn't be necessary mum, He is traveling to M nation for a conference tomorrow and will be coming back next week"
"ah no need then, you really should eat a little more Meili your getting too skinny"
"Yes mother" Meili replied.
"Jianguo you should make sure Meili eats well, she needs to be very healthy to give birth, even though you aren't ready yet you still have to build up your strength Meili" Old madam Jung said.
"Yes grandmother" Jung Jianguo and Xue Meili replied.
"Good, Xiao lan you really need to be thinking of getting married soon you aren't getting any younger, you're two year older than Meili" old madam Jung said.
"Yes grandmother" Zhillan replied.
After dinner everyone was relaxed in the living room, Jung Jianguo and his father were playing Chess while Old madam Jung and Zhao Mei were chatting. Xue Meili had just finished answering a call and was headed back into the living room when she was held back by Jung Zhillan. Xue Meili could already tell that she had something to tell her. Xue Meili and Jung Jianguo were not going back home but instead would spend the night on the Jung family Manor and so would Jung Zhillan who had an apartment close to the hospital.
"Have a seat" Jung Zhillan said Shutting the door to her room.
"I don't know how to say this. I _ I don't have any close female friend not anymore, not since_" Zhillan said
"It alright"
"The thing is, Lin Zhijie and broke up with me two months ago. I have been too cared to tell mum and make her worried or worse my brother"
"You still have to let her know, mother's quite fond of Lin Zhijie"
"am aware she already takes him as her son-in-law that's actually what make it much harder considering he cheated on me with a friend of mine. Their getting married you see"
"I waited all these years for that but he always that he wasn't ready. Seeing as the wedding date has already been set, it was safe to assume that the problem was most definitely from me"
"No it isn't. He clearly doesn't deserve you as for mother I think that she will understand"
"I will tell mum, I only ask that you keep it a secret for now"
"Ok"
"How is everything on set, I haven't been keeping tracks on entertainment news"
"It's been good, I better get going, good night" Xue Meili said and left for Jung Jianguo's room.
