Chapter 3: A Different Diagon Alley
William remained excited throughout whole week. He was looking forward to his first trip of Magical World. But he waited patiently to his off day. During this time he purchased a makeshift knife for his protection. Although it is not completely perfect strategy, it is better than nothing.
On the morning of his off day, he wear long robe for his size with his hoodie for hiding his face. He properly placed knife in his socks. He also took a bag which was placed inside his robes. He carefully took hundred pounds from his savings. After eating breakfast, he sets off towards Leaky Couldron.
On the way, he got many weird stares, but he did not care for it.
Once reaching the place, he reminded himself 'william you have to be cautious, one wrong move and it will be game over for yourself'
He entered building, instead of going towards Diagon Alley, he sits on chair and get information by hearing conversation of people.
One man across his table talking to his companions, "how many people died last two days during attacks of Death Eaters ?"
A long beard man with worn out robes replied with sigh, "five people died, these are some turbulent times. although prof. Dumbledore could restrict Dark lord, it is only temporary method"
"life is so hard for common wizard, during wars of big shots. there is no safe place for common wizard" , short man said.
This was mainly conversation going on through the whole tavern. Instead of hearing about adventures of Dark lord, he decided to proceed with plan. So William came to back room of tavern, by tapping correct sequence on the brick wall he opened entrance of Diagon Alley.
What came in front of him was a spacious alley with many old wierdly designed shops on both sides of roads. Not many people seen walking on streets everyone was cautious of surrounding. There were some discarded and half destroyed shops.
Instead of lingering on street, he first decided to convert pounds into galleons in Gringotts Bank. When he reached the bank many people seen walking in and out of building. William went straight to the money conversion counter. As long time remaining for inflation of money in Muggle World, ten pounds were equal to one galleon.
From there, he went to biggest bookstore he seen on street. He purchased second handed first year books in Hogwarts curriculum for cheap price. He also got basic book of introduction of magical world.
After his crazy purchasing only five galleons remained, he once again remind that how much poor is he.
Without wasting time, he directly went Knocturn Alley. In Borgin and Burks he bought a Occlumency book called 'Basic Occlumency and Legilimency - Frank Evans'
As all of objective completed, he went out of Diagon Alley.
From his observation, the undercurrents for war of light and dark sides of Wizarding World is in full motion. So, instead of becoming scapegoat, he decided to properly build his foundation in Hogwarts where his safety was achieved.
In conclusion, he decided to maintain low profile in Hogwarts. He does not want to be hero. Hogwarts is only start of his journey not end of it. So, for that he takes safety his first priority as he was only a weak little lamb in the eyes of bigshots.
