Chapter 45: Suspicious
The sun rose again and all of the people in the town were busy.
A lot of guardia civil was roaming around early in the morning, pasting some posters.
There was a lot of commotion from the villagers. It was about the posted warning telling them to be careful anytime not only when going to the river but everywhere.
"Is there a murderer in this town? But we almost know every single family in here."
A lot of people agreed to what the woman said.
"Your right! Our family lived a long time in this place."
"This is the first time that this happened."
"Maybe it wasn't a murderer, maybe it was a cult that needed animal's blood?"
A lot of people have their different opinions towards the issue. Smith was gathering the reports they had. Almost all the guards are moving to their respected posts.
Smith then went to see Clari, to personally warn and update her. He had knocked thrice and went around their house but no one answered.
In the noon, Smith came but still no one was there. Again in the afternoon, the house seems so empty. Smith was worried.
Where did that girl go? She wasn't like this before. Was it because her parents died already so she thinks she could go all out like this?
He bit his bottom lip trying to supress his uneasiness.
He was a bit far from Clari's house when he took a glimpse of a guy in a white shirt. He went back to see who it was. When he opened the back door he saw Clari walking upstairs.
Hearing the creaking sound of the door, Claridad frantically turned back.
"Oh hey! It's... you!"
Seeing her look, he narrowed his eyes with his brows knitted.
"Are you alone?"
"Yes. Why?"
Maybe it was just my imagination. "Nothing. I just thought I saw someone."
"Really? I was just here and no one came."
Hearing her, he pursed his lips. He knew she was lying. She wasn't here the whole day because he visited her thrice today.
When they finally said goodbye and assuring that Clari was really alone, he can't help to be suspicious about Claridad. It clouded his mind until he reached his office.
