Chapter 7: the fish and aquarium
in the south-eastern area outside of the town lies a marshland, where one can find a lair of hopping goblins whose prone to attack the nearby harbor for their fishes and other seafoods.
the hop-goblin is a level 10-15 monster that has the jumping ability of a frog and the cunning behavior of a goblin. although they had low intelligence they are still though to deal with due to their good mobility specially on the area where they are spawning.
regardless they are the ideal monsters for echo to hunt because of they are related to some quest that can lower one's notoriety, and in addition to that the SGR of hop-goblin will be a good boost to echo's arsenal.
the hop-goblin's Soul Genetic Reagent is the type that can provide a good boost to a beast jumping ability, and there is also a good chance of getting minor poison resistance as well.
getting poison resistance this early is beneficial to echo as the specialization that he is currently leaning to is Pathfinder. where in most of the traps uses poison.
however even after getting two level he still
not able to get enough Soul Genetic Reagebt to achieve evolution for the abilities he want to get.
the way Soul Genetic Reagent works is that each monster will drop something that is related to their characteristics, the best example for this one is the hop-goblin that echo is currently hunting.
what he needs for this one is the leg muscle because he wants to evolve his jumping ability, however there are some hop-goblin that gained mutation and had poison circulate in their body.
"ahh finally a poison resistance, now i only need six more" even after all those efforts echo is still far away from his goal. as he was checking his progress, echo suddenly received message from Hao.
WángHào:hey when are you going to pick me up?????
ECH0: don't worry I'm currently on my way, just cleaning up my notoriety.
WángHào: wait? ... what??? I told you didnt I, don't even try to get close to that beast, now you are having a hard time cleaning your notoriety.
ECH0: hahaha chill dude the payment is already set, and don't worry all I need is six more poison resistance SGR from the hop-goblins, then i can get back to you ^^
WángHào: ohhh i see... SHUT UP!!! we all know how long that will take.
ECH0: hahaha you seem to know it, then things will be easy then^^
WángHào: Damn business man. I'll give you a weapon in exchange, just get me out if this water.
ECH0: is your fear of deep water that grave? not even transforming to a fish can save you??
WángHào: yes yes can you save me now?
ECH0: ok I'll save you right away, by the way what type of weapon is it first?
WángHào: a shock stick
ECH0: the crap?? there's nothing like that in this game as i remember
WángHào: me as well I don't remember having this type of content plus there is this thing called lost civilization

WángHào: why are you asking me? ain't that your specialty? research and stuffs.

WángHào: freak you're still hunting? hurry up i also want to hunt something there!!

leaving his hunt for a while echo immediately return to the harbor to get the quest for the basic aquarium.
the harbor is the go to place if one wants to have an aquatic soul genetic reagent or lower down one's notoriety.
often being raided by Different kinds of monsters this harbor is home to multiple subjugation quest that's why it is popular with many player.
but even if this is a good place to lower your notoriety or get water element sgr, not a lot of them can be approach easily especially if you have a high notoriety, mainly because the residents here is often being trick by bandits that's why they have lots of trust issues.
reaching the harbor echo submitted his quest first so that he can lower his notoriety and gain enough experience to level up to ten before proceeding to visit the person who will be giving the quest for the aquarium.
at the western parth of the harbor, one can see a small and shabby shack with a rundown signboard with Aquarium and Fishes written on it. while inside are various fishing equipments, although some of them is not in a good condition there are still some variety on each item.
sitting at the back of the shop an old fisherman can be seen whose currently fishing at the moment.
this old man has a small stature and stout body, his right hand is made up of a crab claw, and has a tentacle like beard.
echo approached the old man quietly and ask "hello Mr. Crag caught any fish yet?" the yellow eared rabbit politely ask.
Crag looks at the harmless looking rabbit but instead of answering he just return his focus on catching a fish.
"don't ignore me like that captain." this old fisherman is actually a retired captain however only a few knows his background.
the retired captain looks again at the rabbit then back at the fishing rod as he said "get outta here kid, I don't have any business with you I'm already retired."
"I think you have I've heard some idiot steal your fishes and aquarium" as echo said this the old fisherman stood up.
"kid i know what you're trying to do so get out of here already, this is something you won't be able to handle" as the fisherman goes back to the shop echo suddenly cut his way in.
"listen to my request first okay" he then present a hop-goblin's head to the fisherman, as captain crag saw this his eyes flash with excitement.
"I'm listening kid" seeing that his bait is successful echo began to proceed and state his request. "what i need is an aquarium"
"if aquarium is the only thing you need then you can easily buy it somewhere else" Captain Crag sniggers as he said this to the young rabbit.
"well if that's all i need then I already bought one" echo sarcastically said "what i need is a customized one, something that can easily maneuver on land."
a frown and a look of disappointment appears on the captains face"Sorry kid even though i want to give you one i don't have any" sadness can be seen clearly on his face as it suddenly turned into anger "those Damn bandits they go in here as if this is their home and ransacked everything."
"maybe there's something i can help." as echo probe he then got startled in the sudden outburst of the captain.
"lad listen if i were you I'll go away from this harbor, nothing good ever comes out of here" the old man angrily said.
although surprised by the reaction of the old captain echo still tried to compose himself. he knows that from this moment is the start of a proper transaction, if he can get lucky and things goes according to his plan, then he might unlock the hidden quest this old captain can give.
hidden quest can be unlock depending on how your conversation goes may lead to some interesting. as for finding one you can look for clues mostly on items, artifacts or even news.
in this part echo just overheard a certain rumors about this hidden quest, thus blindly following his instincts to proceed
"how about i provide you the location of their hideout?" echo began his probing to find the proper key to unlock this hidden quest
"sorry lad I appreciate your offer but that alone is not enough, even if i know their location we still can't match their numbers" disappointment can still be seen from the retired captain, but echo is still optimistic as he hit the first clue to unlocking the quest
"what if i help you in lowering their number?" tried this scenario, but even though the old captain shines for a bit it's still not enough solution for him.
"you lower their numbers but what then? they can still recruit, and their operation will continue."
"so you're telling me that if i found enough people then we can go ahead and start subjugating them?" excitement flashes on echo's eyes as he wait for the Captain's reply.
like a light bulb appears, a bright idea appears on the captain. "that's actually seems feasible, but who do you think will accept?"
having this type of question echo is now pretty confident that he is on the right track "how about hiring some people?" echo excitedly ask.
"can you reward them then? if not then don't even think about it."
embarrassed on what he had heard echo then rethinks of a plan. "how about reassembling your old crew?" this idea may seem far-fetched but this is the first thing that came from echo's mind.
"calling a bunch of old man to take out a couple of bandits?" i don't think it's good enough
recalling the weird idea of gathering his old crew, echo suddenly had a weird feeling that he may be able to unlock a more different quest compared to the previous one.
"let me think of other way" as he said this to the captain he suddenly exclaimed"to think that the lonely water pirate group is just a bunch of coward"
"what did you say young lad?" anger is slowly building up to the captain as echo replied by saying "it's just a bunch of bandit's why are you guy's unsure if you can do it or not?"
seeing the captain currently boiling in anger echo still decided to proceed with his lecture "what's the point of you being an explorer if all things you need is already serve to you? ain't that the reason you guys explored the sea? to learn the unknown? plus in my own opinion you guys have tons of experience fighting unknown opponents frequently right?"
as if triggering something, the captain suddenly snaps and shouted " FINE THEN!!! I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT THESE OLD MAN CAN Do!"

MarcheHare upon making this chapter i realized a big mistake on my part
i am making not just a story but a game itself.
what i mean is i don't know how i will build up my characters, and equipment stats
regardless i'll jist yolo things and continue to do better
