Chapter 27: Back to the time when I met Ms. Grey - part 4 (final)

Jenna prepared. She even pulled an all-nighter and went through every single detail. She called Wallace and had another small 'In Session' discussion, where she cleared all of her doubts. Now's the moment to shine. Jenna boosted herself before Lillian.

..

"Name all of the writers from KeyLine Publication."

Lillian started with the obvious one. It is a must for anyone who works for KeyLine. Whether you have the most reputed job or an intern, this is a must known information if you want to stay at KeyLine.

Jenna named all of the writers. Lillian's next question was another obvious 'naming the editors,' which also Jenna replied, including herself in the list. So far, Lillian received a positive feeling from her. But that's just basics that anyone can master.

The next few questions were regarding the company's origin, the date, year, and the first CEO. Jenna got also tested about Shane Ricardo's profile details. Jenna wasn't aiming to answer instantly. But, she took her own time to respond clean and precise, which showed her poise and steadiness.

There were questions about company rules and past events. It was only for Jenna to be aware of the happenings.

Next was about the department and their heads.

Finally, after all of the general questions got over, Lillian came to the main subject.

"You did answer all of the questions splendid. Now, onto the final question. Who am I?"

Jenna looked at Lillian with a bright smile, expressing her love for the author she knew and the books but not knowing the real identity. Jenna went on to answer:

"Lillian Grey," she replied. Lillian's expression shifted to frustration. However, it didn't last long when Jenna continued her answer.

"Real name - Lillian Grey. Penname - Gill. Genre - fantasy & historical fiction. The first book - Journey to the Ashes. It is about a group of Ninjas who were on a mission to escort the king and faced by the immortal enemy Kaiten. The beauty of this book was that its main character was a female ninja, Miku. I like Miku, and I have read this book multiple times already. I learned that this book attracted a lot of young women and celebrated among the teenage group. Your famous work is Cursed Seal- a historical fiction about the royal family with powers and the curse which changed their destiny. It has got an interesting storyline which I have also read it already. This book sold millions of copies all around the world. This book also made you the second-best writer from KeyLine Publication along with the best novel of the year under the genre. Finally, the total number of works published so far is four; all of them earned appreciation and earned you the title, Gill, the master."

Jenna revealed the details. But she didn't stop at that.

"Gill's actual identity never got revealed to the world. It is kept as a secret strictly. Thus, causing a debate on whether Gill is male or female among the fans." Jenna finished answering. She added her round of credits in finally meeting Gill.

Lillian smiled proudly, listening to her editor speaking. She nodded in response to show her that Jenna did a great job in learning all these within a day. Lillian clapped loudly to appreciate Jenna's efforts.

"That's it?" Jenna asked. She had spoken continuously for a long time that expected her to do so all day.

"Yes, and you passed with flying colors. Relax, let me get you some tea." Lillian went to prepare tea for Jenna.

Jenna loosened the stiff and leaned against the cushion for comfort and rest. She then recalled a date to her amusement.

"I forgot to mention your lowest selling book, Ms. Grey." Jenna reminded.

Lillian got stuck in the middle of the tea-making process. She flinched from the title of the lowest selling book, not that Lillian aims to sell her books million copies every time, but the way Jenna announced made to seem worse.

She wasn't expecting that blow after hearing such high appreciation.

'This kid-' - Lillian bites her tongue along with a casual sneer. She liked Jenna already, for she seems to be good at heart human and hardworking little women trying to do her best.

..

Lillian prepared the tea and served it hot. She was satisfied with her new editor.

However, despite the proud gaze, Lillian's face did loom pale in color. Jenna noticed the hidden gloom underneath the fade. She has a vague guess of what the reason could be and intends to address it without wasting a mere second.

"Ms. Grey, I heard all about your gossips too," Jenna admit to her learning some little of Lillian's private information; hearing those words sent chilling waves to Lillian's system by default. Nonetheless, Lillian did not let it overpower, for she did not care for other's opinions.

"I think that one is free to be oneself rather than masking their original self to appear likable."

Jenna's words surprised Lillian. It is rare to come across such a non-judgmental attitude right away after learning the truth.

Jenna continued assuring that it did not bother or disturb her about Lillian's nature.

"However, I didn't know that you were a player, Ms. Grey. You seem like so vanilla," Jenna mused over some unexpected facts.

"Vanille?"

Lillian felt triggered, yet she continued without taking it seriously.

"I had an editor previously who happen to judge me for my sexual preference and looked at me like I was a disgust. I don't care what people think of me or my preferences. I'm not here to satisfy anyone else other than my own heart. Don't you think so too?"

Maybe Lillian spoke what she had on her mind for a while. Jenna felt pity for her. However, sympathy alone is not going to heal someone, taking the first step ahead and making them feel like you're with them, supporting.

"Ms. Grey, I don't care about those things. I told you already that I have a different purpose in choosing this job. I'm not going to sit here and judge people for who they are. It won't affect me even if you come onto me. So, please teach me how to do my job perfectly and help me in achieving a name for myself," Jenna stated.

Jenna's declaration jolted Lillian.

'It doesn't affect her even if I come onto her!'

'Does this girl even know me?'

Lillian, who was in deep reflection, turned to face Jenna. The next few events happened quickly in a few seconds: Lillian stood up, went closer to Jenna, and stooped lower, slowly reaching her face until their lips were only inches away.

Lillian stared at Sadie with a sexual appetite, strong enough to make anyone bow down to the desire. Then, casually, she moved towards her ears and softly sang, "You still think I'm vanilla. I'm far away from being vanilla, sweet child."

Those words sounded arousing, giving Jenna chills all over her body. She sat there froze up like a mannequin, not expecting to fall for a fellow gender's charms so effortlessly.

'So, this is what players do, huh.' - Jenna thought while silencing her pounding pulse rate.

Jenna imagined the consequences of her words. She thought that her author, Ms. Grey, is playful as well as dangerous.

Lillian walked away to release the tension.

"I'm just kidding. Don't get scared. You are not my type," Lillian declared without entering to argue the gossips because she did not mind.

"Dang it, look it's past twelve. Do you want to grab lunch together?" Lillian asked Jenna, who returned to the human state.

Anna noticed the time and agreed.

Grabbing her wallet, Lillian Grey went out to buy some food.

"Are you going by yourself to buy us lunch?" Jenna rushed out to the front door.

"Yes, I need some change in the environment. I'll be back soon. You stay here and take rest. You've worked hard, Jenna," Lillian patted on her shoulder and went out to buy food.

Jenna stood near the front door, all alone, thinking how difficult it is going to be working as an editor for Ms. Grey.
