Chapter 3: Scatlet Chapter 3 'Stars Garden'
"So Doctor Rick, I suppose you have something to say to me?" Scarlet say innocently.
'A LOT!!' Doctor Rick really wanted to scold this beautiful lady in front of him for some good couple hour. But he glanced at the door and decided to reschedule the scolding season another time.
"He will know sooner or later." he said seriously, somehow he is againts the idea to hide her condition from Lyndel. Two years ago Lyndel knew, and with his nagging nature this lady manage to make her condition worsening into this stage. God know who can control this stubborn patient of his.
"I know, just want to give him some time to accept it." seeing her determined face, Doctor Rick give up the thought to persuade her, and get to the point.
"Do you have any difficulties in breathing?" he asked seriously.
Scarlet's eyes grew biger in realization, her eyes narrowed and her complexion become solemn. There is some bitter feeling inside her heart.
'Sigh.... Look like I am way too reckless all this years. I wanted to look after them for a little longer but.... '
"... a little." Scarlet said seriously. Because she doesn't pay attantion to it, she doesn't realize it earlier. But when Doctor Rick mention this, she do find it slightly uncomfortable.
"It will be troublesome to explain it in scientific way, and you will not understand anyway. So lets put it in the simple way that we both understand." Doctor Rick said nonchalantly.
"... You really a doctor?" Scarlets eyebrows twiched slightly. She really can't relate this lazy elders in front of her with one of the best Neurologist known in the world.
"Hump... if not because of you, this bothersome lady. This grandfather has already enjoyed his old time peacefully without care of the world. And with all that you still have face to make me angered everytime we talk." Doctor Rick who somehow has already calmed down his agitated heart, exploded once again.
'How difficult it is to keep her own healt, and make this pitiful elders heart less agitated each time she talk?! Does she want me died couple years earlier?!'
"I dont believe that you dont notice your own body, this can't be happened overnight, you must be ignoring any symptom and overlimit your body. Do not l told you to come when anything happen?!! instead now you come 2 years latter, your legs nerve has already paralyzed completely, with your hands nerve severe damaged, and even your internal organs being effected. Now what do you want me to do?!! this 2 years you refuse to treat your body, now why bother to find me?!!"
After Doctor Rick said his part, he feel a lot better. Seeing the young lady in front of him listening obediently without rebuting, his heart softened a lot, he know what burden this slender and thin shoulders have to bear. The sin of previous generation and the future of later generation is not thing some common people can bear without being insane in the process.
Seeing the young lady face that overly similar with his dear apprentice make he feel distressed and remorse. The same eyes and eyebrows, the same delicate nose, even the same smooth jaw outline and small lips, and the same contagious and bright smile.
His sight went far to the past, to the past when there was an indifferent, stubborn, and uncute young lady. His baby apprentice, his baby daughter he never have.
Who he had failed to protect.
Four years ago he finally found his baby apprentice's daughter, his baby granddaughter, he vowed to support and protect her that time. But how can he once again failed to protect her? now the situation has come to this, he will protect her even if it mean he have to take away her freedom.
"Scarlet, even if you don't care, at least for us who care dearly about you, can you please treasure yourself?" Doctor Rick said softly with stern face, half ordered and half begged.
At the begining Scarlet just want to let Doctor Rick lash out his anger and be a good girl until he is satisfied. But his last sentence left her choked unprepared, the corner of her eyes become noticeably red.
Thinking of her brother's pale face and Doctor Rick stern face, her awareness was like being hit so hard. I have wronged them.
"Alright, I will." She said solemnly, at least for her brother and Doctor Rick who unconditionally care about me, I have to treasure myself, I can't wronged them more than this.
"Good, now you have to listen to what I say, you have to stay here for your treatment, your responsibility now is to rest and treat your body, and I will not allow you to know or seek any information or trouble from outside. Those are the minimum conditions" Doctor Rick said without give Scatlet slightest room to rebut.
"Alright" Scarlet said calmly.
"THIS RASCAL, WHAT DO YOU-" Doctor Rick stopped when he realize what he had heard.
".... What do you say?" Even though he sure he did not heard wrongly, he could not help but asking doubtfully.
He really can not be blamed for this though, everytime he want to keep her here, he have to fight fierce battle, and after all that he can only compromise to give her the medicine to suppress her diseases progress. Poor him... not even able to force her to come even once for two years.
"It is really that unbelievable?" Scarlet asked.
Seeing the elders face still full of doubt, she chuckled amusedly.
"I dont have any reason to refuse now." a hint of bleakness fleeting in her eyes, but too haze to become noticable.
"And Doctor Rick, you have a really good place to live a life." Scarlet turn her head to the window where garden of many beautiful flowers and herbs can be seen. Inded a good place to live a life.
Doctor Rick place, Stars Garden, have position that just right for recuperation, not too remote to become unreachable, and not too reachable to become distraction.
The geography condition of this place itself is particularly charming, in the midle of mountain that formed a steep cliff because the erotion of wafe. Facing up the deep blue sea at the eastside and the everbusy port city, Maria City at the northside.
One can saw beautiful sunrise, when the sun is like appear from the deep sea, and yellowish light fall on the surface of the blue sea, created an ilution of a million golden stars form a dazling milky way across the sea.
In the night, the scenery of Maria City is not pale in comparison. The light of city lamp and vehicle in the land and sea formed a mirror efect with the full of stars night sky. The colorful and lively light has its own carm, stand with the even and quite stars in the night sky, an oposite yet similar scenery, make one find it difficult to turn one eyes away.
But the building itself is somehow far away from the cliff by walking. Doctor Rick said that the scenery there is not too calming and not suitable for recuperation, plus it will be good exercise. Scarlet said that Doctor Rick just wanted to mess with her.
The building is surrounded by dense garden of many kind of plant, if one walking around the building the word that appear to discribe that experience is 'green', but it is inded have calming efect, and if one carefully seeing, one will know that this garden has gone through careful planning and care that every part of it has different effect for human health. For example the garden beside Scarlet room have soothing effect for nerve that suitable for her condition.
