Chapter 7: CHAPTER 7
Robbie: "Sammy, is Lowen ok? He just now seemed different, almost as if he is not human. By the way, what did he mean by my survival? Is this training that deadly? Did you also go through this training? "
Sammy: "Chill bro, don't stress out. First of all, although Lowen is human but years of training and exposure to ISSR's training programs have caused his fitness to the pinnacle of human evolution. You will learn about it in your training.
Robbie: "Must be some tough training program"
Sammy: "Yes. And to let you know, the training has 2 parts – Military and Survival. It is mandatory for everyone to clear the survival training, failing which your memory will be removed and you will go back to your old life. If you manage to complete the military training with satisfactory result, then you will be eligible to become a intelligence operative. I cleared the survival training but didn't take the military training as it was not required for me to. After all, I was destined to be a handler"
Robbie: "What is a Handler?"
Sammy: "That's enough information for now. Anything you want to know and everything you need to know will be told to you as part of your training. Let's go now. It's already very late. "
Sammy and Robbie then went to the garage and sat down in the car. Robbie after closing the door saw Sammy take out a black piece of cloth from his pocket.
Robbie: "Am I going to be blindfolded again?"
Sammy: "Sorry man but until you complete your training successfully, I can't disclose the location of the base."
Robbie: "Well, go ahead."
Sammy blindfolded Robbie and came out of the base to go straight towards their house. Sammy knew that Robbie with his physique and knowledge can easily complete the training but was really unsure about whether Robbie will still maintain his hopeful and cheerful nature. He knew that the training either makes you strong or breaks you enough to never rise again.
Lost in thoughts, Sammy had already reached home without realizing it. He looked to the sleeping Robbie beside him. The serene look on his sleeping face resolved Sammy's wavering thoughts and also solidified his intention to help Robbie in every way possible to make sure that he never encounters the dark side of ISSR and is not corrupted by it.
Sammy removed Robbie's blindfold and woke him up.
Sammy: "Robbie, We still have something important to discuss."
Robbie (yawning): "Can't we talk tomorrow morning?"
Sammy: "No we need to discuss this now. Did you think on what will you say to your mom regarding your absence? We don't know how long the training will go on. You need to make your mom be at ease as you will not be allowed to talk with anyone outside during your training and will only be allowed to send letters once every week."
Robbie: "Yes I already thought of a perfect cover. I can say that I am going on a military training camp, on completion of which I will be eligible for direction induction into British military."
Sammy: "It's actually a good cover. With this, I will be able to handle everything and also in the future, we can use this to cover your missions and long absences."
Robbie: "Perfect. So, it's settled. I will tell mom exactly that, first thing tomorrow. I just realized something. I never asked earlier. What does ISSR stand for?
Sammy (winking): "It's better if you learn it during your training. "
Then Robbie and Sammy got down the car after parking it and went up the lift. After entering their flat, they saw both their moms watching Movie, waiting for them to return. It was part of their daily life to at least have dinner together. Both Robbie and Sammy had totally forgotten it.
After listening to their mom's scolding (and silently enduring it!), they all had dinner together. Robbie decided not to hold it any longer and told his mom the lie about going on military training camp. Robbie's mom was already mentally prepared for it but didn't think that Robbie will go for it even before the military test. But then, what could she do. Like father like son. Both were impulsive and did things as they wished. So although she was a bit shaken from the news, she quickly calmed down. She was really happy that her son had taken the first step to fulfil his parent's dream.
Present Day....
After coming out of the mind room, all 3 were sitting with a gloomy look. They wanted to do something but didn't know how to handle it without revealing everything. Sammy was in a fix. It was definitely the worst day of his life. First the situation with Robbie, then the secret operation of ISSR and now the scandal and crisis arising from it. He looked at the 2 people besides him in a very angry look.
Suddenly his phone started ringing. He saw the dialer's name and immediately perspired like anything. The sudden look change made Paslik and Lowen come and look at the phone in Sammy's shivering hand. The moment they looked at the name, they started shaking as well.
The call was from Robbie's mom.
Sammy was drenched in sweat, imagining the questions to come and thinking on how to handle them. The phone after ringing for some time got cut off.
After taking a deep breath, Sammy dialed the number. After just 1 ring, the phone was picked up. Robbie's Mom, Selene was sobbing uncontrollably. She was unable to say anything. Then Ruby, Sammy's mom took the phone from Selene.
Ruby: "Son, what is the issue with Robbie? We just got the news. Selene has been crying her eyes out since then."
Sammy: "Mom, please tell aunty not to worry. Right now, the entire London police department is investigating. They definitely will solve this situation. Also, I am trying to get my social friends to get involved in this so as to expedite it."
Selene suddenly snatched the phone from Ruby and spoke with a hoarse sound, "I trust you, Sammy. Please get my son back to me safely. It's been a long time. I will take care of him. Please just bring him home."
Sammy: "Aunty, I will try my best to get Robbie discharged and bring him back. Don't worry aunty"
After the phone got disconnected, Sammy threw the phone in anger towards the wall, which then shattered into pieces and left a big crack on the wall. He then sat down, fully drenched in sweat. The situation has really gone out of his control.
Finally, Lowen said, "I guess it's out of our control now. I am really out of ideas. Time to get the head involved. We now really need his help"
Although they all had respect for the head, after their recent encounters with his impulsive behavior and unpredictive actions, they really didn't want to meet the dark man in the shadows again. But now there was no other way. Since this mission was initiated by him, he was naturally responsible for any mess caused.
Just one question was remaining for the 3 men to answer for now - Who is going to call the devil and give the bad news? Who among them is going to incur his wrath? …...
