Chapter 4: CHAPTER 4
Robbie's vision turned black. He started feeling nausea and felt like puking. He couldn't sense anything, as if he was floating in a sensory deprivation tank. He couldn't scream and felt like he was floating in zero gravity. Suddenly he felt like he was falling and then he found himself sitting on a chair in a big white room with a single window and with MM looking out that window.
MM: "Hello Robbie".
Robbie: "Who are you and what is this? Where am I? What did you do to me?"
MM: "Patience. Everything will be explained. First tell me if you are feeling ok or not."
Robbie: "I felt like puking but now I am fine."
MM: "Then let's talk. Right now, we are connected by psychic link which is one of my many abilities. This is my mind room, created by me in my mind to communicate secretly with all my agents."
Robbie: "Psychic link, Abilities, mind room….."
MM: "Just listen carefully and all of your queries will be answered"
Robbie said Ok, not sure how to handle everything happening to him but willing to listen to everything out of curiosity.
MM: "My name is Paslik and I am a recruiter and enforcer for ISSR. We are a secret neo-government organization, with funding from all over the world governments and secret societies. Our major objective is to make sure that all the ancient and supernatural powers, both good and evil are kept at bay from the modern society and that they remain segregated, never to be integrated again, to make sure that another dark age or worse, world war never starts because if it does, it will be a war for survival between these powers and humans"
Robbie: "Which is why you asked if nature or humanity."
Paslik: "Exactly. Most of these forces are divided into 2 factions: One is Pro-Nature; who wanted to eliminate everything harming the nature, especially the humans and the other is Pro-Life Faction who wants to establish a sustainable environment for both nature and humans to exist together."
Robbie: "Pro-Life Faction sounds promising"
Paslik: "Yes it does, except in the last few centuries, this faction is losing its steam. All efforts are going in vain. The Greed of humans is proving a great hindrance to all their efforts and activities. As a result, this faction is losing its members to the other faction, who are waiting and preparing in secret for the Great War that will start the moment the other faction fails."
Robbie: "But if humans are ended, these people will die, won't they?"
Paslik: "Well, these factions are not all humans."
Robbie: "What do you mean by 'not all humans'?"
Paslik: "This world is not what it seems to be and humans are not definitely at the top of the food chain".
Robbie: "I don't understand."
Paslik: "This world is full of supernatural creatures such as vampires, werewolves and others. Some of them wish to reveal themselves to the world and rule it while some wish to make sure that the earth survives so that they will survive too."
Robbie: "This is too much to take."
Paslik: "I know. You will learn all about them eventually, provided you decide to join us. You can also ask Sammy about it"
Robbie: "That I will. I was curious; you said something about psychic link and abilities?"
Paslik: "Yes, you see there are a few of us, who have these inherent abilities which we can use. For me, it is pyshic and mind link. We call ourselves the gifted ones."
Robbie: "Ok that explains it. Am I and Sammy and maybe lowen gifted too?"
Paslik: "Sammy and lowen are not gifted. The ratio is really low. Only a few are proven to be gifted. As for you, I don't know. It normally manifests when during duress or stress."
Robbie: "Ok. One last thing, will you kill me if I refuse to join?"
Paslik: "Of course not. We will just wipe out your memory and put you in your desk in sleeping condition. But think about it. You can gain a life of adventures. You will be serving not only your country but entire world. You will be facing challenges you never thought of, learning skills you never believed to have ever existed and practically reinvent yourself as strong and powerful."
Robbie: "You sound convincing but I am still not sure"
Paslik: "Very well. Let me show you something"
The Room walls suddenly became translucent and then he saw that the whole world outside was a ruined place; Abandoned buildings and skeletons on the road. Robbie was horrified to see it.
Paslik: "Few years ago, I had a chance to have a glimpse at the future. This is what I saw. Don't know when. Don't know how. But if we don't do something, then this is definitely the future. You don't need time view or time travel to know that"
Robbie: "I understand. We need to do something."
Paslik: "So will you join?"
Robbie: "As long as it doesn't affect my loved ones or my personal life, I guess I am in. But what about my aspirations and dreams? Do I have to sacrifice them?"
Paslik: "No of course not. Unless absolutely necessary, you are free to pursue any path you want."
Robbie: "COOL"
