Jia froze for a moment and was only brought to reality when the car behind her pressed his horn. She suddenly got into her wit and pressed the acceleration mode to follow the car. She was so sure she was not dreaming. He really looked like Jim. But just as she caught them up at the exit border, she was stopped by the parking attendant to give way for the coming ambulance. She could only watch the car as it swerved farther and farther away.
She thought about him again. There was no evidence that he was burned in the fire except for his watch and sunglasses. After all, the fire was too big that the whole house was consumed. If he was indeed burned, his body could no longer be identified.
Yet, she left him on the cottage and probably, when he sensed the danger, he could have possibly switched on the power button of his electric - powered wheelchair. But why did he not come back? Did he not say that she was his everything? Would he allow her to get married to someone else?
This is a flashback chapter which talks about the time when Jim was persuaded by Hailey to go home.
Their first meeting happened before the wedding, when Jia went to Jim's tomb to bid him goodbye.
To better appreciate this chapter, pls go back to Chapter 217, "Goodbye, Sweetheart. "
My apologies for the confusing chapters.
