Chapter 4: Lost In Her Eyes

After going to school earlier that day, Zain realized that he had forgotten his bag with his best friend, Ismail. Luckily, that was the only friend he honestly really trusted so he knew his bag was safe and sound. He just texted him that he would come by the fair later that night and get the bag.

Later on, he got a message from his friend saying that he didn't really want to go to the fair and would deliver the bag at his place. So right when Zain was about to agree, he got another text saying, "Wait. I want to introduce my younger sister to you...the one I'm always complimenting and talking about. I'm not trying to force you two together but if you both are pretty compatible, then I don't mind handing my sister over to you for marriage."

Zain could feel that Ismail always wanted his younger sister to go with some amazing man and he felt honored that Ismail thought of him that way, but he still hadn't forgotten the girl he saw that night and he didn't think he could feel attracted to anyone the way he was to her. He said "I'm not so sure about it bro. I saw a girl recently and I can't get her off my mind. I even pass through the street where I saw her last and wait around to see if she'll pass by me again. I can meet with your sister but I can't guarantee I will build a relationship with her."

"Dude that's totally fine. I'll still let you two meet just because I feel that my sister is probably a hundred times better than the girl you met."

"Alright. I will see you in a bit" said Zain and immediately got ready and started heading towards campus.

When he got to campus, he was going to text Ismail and ask him where he was but right then, he bumped into some friends and they let him know that Ismail was going to be waiting by the basketball courts.

Zain walked over and caught a glimpse of two people sitting together on a bench and talking. He could tell that was Ismail and his sister. But what surprised him more was that the sister was wearing very modest clothing and her face seemed to be covered. Zain caught a glimpse of her eyes when she looked up and immediately he was mesmerized by her. Her deep black eyes felt like they would drown him. He didn't even realize when Ismail said hi to him because he just kept staring into her eyes feeling like a prisoner that never wanted to leave.

There was no doubt that the girl he had seen in the streets that day was the same girl whose eyes he was staring into now.

After a while, he noticed that the girl was feeling embarrassed by his stare and was trying to look down to avoid his intense gaze. He could hear Ismail introducing her. Shaheen. Shaheen was her name. The girl he had been searching for this entire time had been his best friend's little sister. He couldn't help it and asked "Hey bro, can I talk to her privately?"

As soon as he said that he noticed Shaheen look up with her eyes wide as though she was unwilling to talk with him privately. But Ismail said "Shaheen. I will be sitting at the bench right there so I will still be able to see you two. I want you to speak with him alone a bit and see how compatible you are so I can see if my friend will be a good fit for you as a husband. I know that you are ok with marrying anyone blindly so long as mom, dad, and I approve it, but I still want you to be happy and compatible with whoever you marry. I hope you don't mind that I'm doing this." he said as he slowly walked towards a bench a little far away.

Shaheen felt very nervous and knew that what her brother was doing would be frowned upon by her parents. But if this was her brother's wish, she would complete it. All of a sudden she heard a deep voice coming from above her.

"Hi. My name is Zain Khan and I'm a fourth year at this university like your brother. I am majoring in business informatics and am the heir to the x financial company. Can I know a little bit about you?"

Right when he said that, he saw the girl look up and perk her head up to see him and right when she did that, her veil loosened off and all he could see was her beautiful face. She was trying to reach down to get the niqab and right when she reached out for it, he also reached out and their hands met. She immediately pulled her hand free and looked at Zain as though he had committed a sin by holding her hand. He liked the fire in her eyes and wished he could drown deeper into them. He could tell she felt uncomfortable under his gaze and very quickly, she ran off to her brother without having said a word.
