Chapter 36: Academy Rules and Layout
Stunned. Everyone in the hall was stunned from the fact that he had made it to the realm of sword lord before getting officially taught by another swordsman as that was usually the process of someone learning the sword in this era. Unlike the beginning where they had no one who had learned anything and had to stumble in the dark on their own, now they have an abundance of people that have learnt everything that has been learnt to date. In this era you could hire an accomplished swordsman to teach you even his most secret moves as long as you had the right amount of money and from the fact that Jian was the supposed fiance candidate to Sarah he couldn't not be well off in the wealth department even if he did have weird taste and dressed in simple clothing like a commoner however they didn't suspect a thing as swordsman have done weirder and worse for their comprehension of the sword.
Elders finally able to move on from the shock they proceed with the rest of the status reading however no one could move them like Sarah, Tian Long and Jian did. Status reading done the elders lead everyone for a tour of where they would stay, normally after the status reading was done they would have left but because Sarah and the others were there they decided to make a good impression on them now and see if it brings them some benefits in the future as they have already peaked in power from training alone (humans get experience for training and levelling skills, not alot mind you but it is still something), well they could always hunt monsters in the forest however humans have always been cowardly and fickle in nature and it takes a lot for one to put themsleves in harms way on their own initiative like their loved ones in danger or they have been backed into a corner by a monster and it is a life or death scenario where they have to fight with everything they have to make it out alive.
Making their rounds they tell the academy rules to everyone:
1) No killing other students UNLESS within the life or death arena where unresolvable grievances are fought out.
2) No raping students, that means BOTH noble and commoner people.
3) No taking skill books away from the academy grounds.
4) No sharing skill books with others UNLESS you have paid the sharing fee.
After the elders had finished the (important) rules they led them further within the academy and pointed to some dorm buildings for the outer area where they would stay until they ranked up. The elders then patiently explained that there was a building for those that had not Ranked up yet and then another for those within Rank 1. Your door number is your rank within the school leaderboard. The elders also told them all something important, that if you were at the bottom of your rank and every room in the building is occupied the person looking to go further up will have to knock you down, they also released that if you were at the bottom of the non-rankers and the building was full you would be kicked out of the academy if you lost as there is not enough space for the person that loses therefore they lose their chance in the academy until the next time the recruitment is held which is every three years.
The school has leaderboards for the different ranks to push the students into furthering themselves. For each rank they have one thousand places in the official tournament, before that they hold a preliminary to find out who will hold those places as they have more than a thousand per rank however they can't have so many people fighting as it would take years before the tournament finished. The building, may as well call it a mansion from how big it was, for the people who hadn't ranked up yet had ten thousand rooms. The Rank 1 mansion had five thousand rooms, the Rank 2 mansion had two thousand five hundred and the Rank 3 mansion had one thousand two hundred and fifty rooms. Each mansion was fitted with two bathrooms and bath house rooms (one for male, one for female).
Each mansion also had their own training area so as to make sure that the more powerful student do not hurt the weaker ones from the fall out of their skills. The mansions also had their own cafeteria where cooks hired by the academy give out balanced meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Specific times were made for eating times, breakfast is at 0700 - 0800, lunch is 1200-1300 and dinner is 1700-1800. There was also a challenge arena where you can go against another student (basically a sparring match, non-lethal moves only) or you could go against a random beast the school had caught or raised from the forest. The only real difference is that those that were raised had lost their wild edge from living in a place that kept them safe and well fed whereas the caught ones have an even wilder edge as they have lost their hope of leaving therefore wish to take as many with them as they can.
Just as the elders had finished with their explanation they had all arrived at the 'Non-Rankers' mansion where most had been dropped off as the highest levels within the assessment were Jian and Tian Long who had already ranked up outside the school. The highest level in the assessment was actually Christopher at Level 9. Altogether joining the academy were six hundred people consisting of about a hundred nobles and about three hundred middle class and the rest were commoners.
Leaving the Non-rankers they only told them to go and pick a room and if they had an occupant just beat them out of it or if you aren't confident go try and find an empty room. Sarah confidently walked in as the elders left with TIan Long and Jian as they had to leave for the Rank 1 mansion which was further ahead in the inner area of the outer area. The outer area and inner area of the academy also have their own outer and inner areas. For the outer area they have the outer area for Non-Rankers and the inner area for Rank 1's. For the inner area they have the outer area for Rank 2's and the inner area for the Rank 3's. Once past that you can graduate or become and leder of the school and move to the elders residential area where they also have an inner and outer area for Rank 4's and 5's. Further than that is the residential area of the principal.
