Chapter 8: Lead Up
When they got in, Nimm felt like something wasn't right but then Sean asked him,
"What should we call that move?"
"Umm, Electric Shock!"
"No, that was a full bolt"
Nimm then thought for a second, while Sean rambled on about how the name has to be cool and sort of flashy.
"Lightning Arc! Yeah, that sounds cool and it's exactly what it is, perfect!"
Sean just sighed and shook his head. Melanie then called from across the house,
"Sean, Nimm, come over here, please!"
They got to the kitchen where Melanie just finished heating up some macaroni and cheese. She had a big bruise on her face, her hair was a mess, and looked sad when she looked at them, but she sat at the table as if none of that was true. And as a concerned child, Nimm inquired,
"How did you get that bruise?"
"Oh umm, I dropped something and on my way to pick it up, I hit my face on the table. It hurt a lot,"
She sounded nervous when she said this so Nimm kept on,
"What about your hair? It's all messed up,"
"Okay! Let's not focus on me, Sean, would you like to stay here for the night?"
"Yeah, that would be cool, I'm not sure if my parents would allow that though,"
"Don't worry about that, Tyrone's talking to them right now asking the same thing,"
Tyrone then entered the room smiling, he was still on the phone but he nodded and gave a thumbs up to Sean,
"Yeah, we'll go over to pick his stuff up,"
Tyrone then gestured to Melanie and they left. Sean then tugged on Nimm's shirt, then put his mouth up to Nimm's ear
"Tyrone must've punched her,"
Nimm turned to look at him,
"How would you know?"
"She looked stressed when you asked about the bruise, she skipped the question about her hair, and that was a punch mark I... I would know,"
Sean looked away but Nimm kept staring at him,
"That's a conversation for another time but for now, we need to talk to Ms. Melanie, and ask why Mr, Tyrone punched her,"
"Okay, let's talk to her after dinner, that sounds good, right?"
"Yeah,"
So while they waited for Melanie and Tyrone to come back, they talked about the move name, and what else Nimm might be able to do with his mana. By the time the adults came back, it was already around 8:00.
"Whew, that was a long drive, right Melanie?"
Melanie only nodded her head silently, her eyes looking distant and empty.
"Okay, Sean, here are your clothes, you and Nimm go take a bath, and Nimm, we bought you some clothes, they're in the bathroom, and dinner will be done by the time you get out"
So after they took a bath and put on clothes they went to the dinner table, which was oddly quiet. Nimm throughout the whole time was staring at Tyrone with a bit of malicious intent, which convinced Tyrone even further that Nimm was a demon.
When they finished eating and cleaning dishes, Melanie called Nimm over.
And they went into the living room.
