28 - Is This Love?
Employees at JADE are also gaining from this improvement. While Cody has always been attentive with their welfare, he is quite strict with work and turns scary when he is not satisfied with their work performance. However, with his wife accompanying him daily, all of them felt he has become gentler at dealing with erring subordinates. He still isn't lenient but the fear factor is scaled down considerably.
His quiet wife just have to place her hand on his or smile at him with a gentle shake of her head and he calms down right away. The people working for them showed their gratitude by even working harder and so, JADE was catapulted to greater heights.
One day in September, George decided to stay home just to laze around. Cody, of course, let her be and went to the office. He asked his secretaries to move up as many company meetings just so he won't have the time to miss his darling wife.
At home, George picked some flowers and potted plants to spruce up the indoor spaces. She was assisted by their household staff. She also had the curtains changed and had some furnitures moved around. In the past, these would be done before lunch. However, that day, she found herself spacing out several times so the tasks at hand were delayed.
Earlier in the morning, when her husband just left, she was looking at different flowers in the garden and she was filled with thoughts of him. She recalled their intimate moment a few months back and blushed at how brazen they were that night.
She also thought of their nightly strolls after dinner and as she chose the flowers to cut, she started longing to have him by her side. She imagined how nice it would be to cut flowers with him and dress up their space together. She could actually visualise how they will be playing small pranks at each other while at it.
She was smiling but found herself missing him despite having only separated from him. Has she really fallen for him? She thought of being away from him for days and she involuntarily shuddered. Sadness filled her heart. It seems that she couldn't stand it.
Everything, no matter how mundane becomes more interesting if they are together. As she continued her project for the day, still constant spacing out, she has come to terms with the idea that she has in fact fallen for her husband of almost one year.
All day, her feelings shifted from warm and fuzzy, dreamy, and finally fear. She couldn't help but be afraid that pain would follow the wonderful feelings she got. Remnants of things that went wrong in her first marriage still lurks somewhere in her being.
At the end of the day, after seeing the result she wanted for the living area, she told herself to take her time and not tell Cody how she really feels. She was in the shower when she heard the door to their bedroom open. She knew it was him and happiness enveloped her.
