Hearing Lu Li Jing's name slip out of Feng Zhengyi's mouth made Elder Kang's face darken considerably but the woman was not done.
"Did you seriously introduce your ex-girlfriends granddaughter to our grandson? Aren't you ashamed of yourself..." Feng Zhengyi said with complete disbelief.
Feng Zhengyi knew how to phrase things to get others on her side. Looking around the table she saw many looks of confusion, but most understood how a woman in her situation would feel.
Though hearing such a thing, Elder Kang did not get flustered. Instead, the old man spoke calmly and eloquently. "Feng Zhengyi, you better hold your tongue when talking about the dead."
"Is anything I've said wrong? Is she not from the same blood!" Feng Zhengyi acted like a woman scorned but none on the table knew if this persona was true or not.
However, hearing those words come out of his mothers mouth made Kang Mu frown. He turned to his father and said, "What is this about?"
Seeing that everything was going off track, Kang Jun sighed and squeezed Lu AnLing's hand before he spoke.
"Stop!"
Hearing his voice, everyone immediately turned their gazes to him.
Kang Jun: "Let me make this clear. No one introduced me to AnLing. I don't care what personal grudges you two have from your past but it's irrelevant to the present."
Seeing that everyone was still quiet, Kang Jun continued to speak. "Now that I'm the head, there are some things we must discus. First and foremost, my wife, Kang Liu Ran's wife, Lu Xia, and Kang Nianxi's wife Wang Tingting, will be accepted into the Kang family."
Hearing this, Feng Zhengyi felt her body curl at the name Lu AnLing and Lu Xia, as Kang Nianxi's eyes widened.
"Why would you—" Kang Nianxi tried to ask but Kang Jun did not give him time to speak.
"Secondly, as per the contract between grandfather and I, Mingyu has officially been adopted as I and Lu AnLing's son."
The whole table gasped in confusion with the exception of Qiao Lan who looked at Kang Jun with a glare.
Kang Jun noticed this but he didn't care, instead he turned to Feng Zhengyi and said, "AnLing and I have been taking care of Mingyu for a while now. We have been giving him as much love and care as he needs. Now... will you give me custody of Mei Xue?"
Kang Jun gripped Lu AnLing's hand hard under the table.
Kang Jun had previously wished that he would never have to reveal their marriage and keep their love and happiness between the two of them but that was impossible. Revealing their marriage was good for many things but mainly, it was good for getting rid of pests and gaining an advantage in court.
Hearing this, Feng Zhengyi scoffed. "I stand by my previous answer."
"Fine then," Kang Jun sighed and then he took out a letter from the courts. Kang Jun threw it, cooly, Feng Zhengyi's way. It was an injunction. "Feng Zhengyi, neither you, nor Mei Xue are allowed to leave T City until the court proceedings are over."
Crossing his arms over his chest, Kang Jun looked at Feng Zhengyi as she looked at the paper and gave a dry laugh.
Looking between his mother and his son, Kang Mu said, "Jun... aren't you being too much? You're already taking care of Mingyu and the company. You're so busy... you don't need Mei Xue also."
Kang Jun glared at Kang Mu. "She's my daughter. As a parent you should understand why I want her under my care."
Hearing this, Kang Jun's father and brothers gasped. Mo Ruyi was also shocked but she did not show it.
Mo Ruyi: "Are you sure?"
"Yes." Kang Jun said without any hesitation.
As soon as Mo Ruyi heard this, she turned to Feng Zhengyi and said, "Did you know?"
"Of course. But if you want to ask me to give him custody, I won't. Your son will die young if he thinks he can take care of children and the company. I don't know what Guanting is thinking by giving Mingyu to him." Feng Zhengyi's words were final. No matter what Mo Ruyi said, the old woman would not budge so Mo Ruyi did not waste her breathe.
Kang Jun shrugged. "Say whatever you want. We will deal with this in court."
After saying this, Kang Jun swept his eyes across the table and said, "And thirdly, my wife and I will be moving into Kang manor."
Hearing this, Qiao Lan's eyes opened wide and she frowned hard. "Don't you have your own house?"
"Yes. And this is also my house. When Zhi was the heir, he lived here too. And do you know what that means? Only the Kang heir can live in the manor." Kang Jun said these words with menace in his voice. Hearing this, Qiao Lan felt as if a metaphorical slap was coming her way so she mentally prepped herself for it but nothing could prepare or protect her from what was to come. "Qiao Lan... now that you've been adopted into the family, you must live by Kang family rules. From today onward you cannot step foot in this house unless there is a family meeting. Neither can you approach Mingyu or Mei Xue."
With every new sentence spoken by Kang Jun, Qiao Lan became angrier and angrier. It was getting hard to keep her emotions in check but Kang Jun didn't stop there.
Kang Jun: "You're also cut off from any monetary gains you get from the Kang family. Including Zhi's life insurance. If you have a problem with that, go work. The Kang family isn't like others. We can offer you a job in the company and you will need to work your way up from the bottom. Do you think any of us ended up where we are only because we are Kang's? That's not how Kang Corporations works."
When Kang Jun was done, Qiao Lan was fuming and the rest of the room was speechless.
Qiao Lan had though that when she was adopted by the Kang's she would be safe but with Kang Jun as the head, she would never be safe.
"Jun... we know you don't like Lan but have some mercy..." Kang Mu said while glancing at Qiao Lan's defeated expression.
As Kang Mu said this, Kang Nianxi, who felt extremely bad for Qiao Lan, who had had a rough year, turned to his grandfather and said, "Yeye..."
Hearing this, and looking at Qiao Lan, Elder Kang looked at Kang Jun and said, "Don't you think you're being a bit much?"
Kang Jun looked at Elder Kang and glared. "Are the Qiao's manor and riches not enough for her? You adopted her into the family so she could have a family after her biological one passes away, she has that now, but what does this have to do with our assists and estate?"
Kang Jun had thought about this well, so Elder Kang had nothing he could say.
After saying this, Kang Jun turned to his mother and father and then said, "Do you two have a spare room in your house?"
Kang Mu raised his eyebrows. "Yes but why?"
Kang Jun: "Grandmother is going with you guys."
The room suddenly went deathly quiet but then, Feng Zhengyi laughed. "Fine but Mei Xue is conning with me."
The woman smiled believing she had won but Kang Jun was not going to allow that. He had already thought many things through.
"Sorry, Grandmother, but that's not possible. The injunction not only states that Mei Xue needs to stay in T City but due to your... unstable living situation... it specified that she must stay at her legal residence, which is the Kang Manor." With every word Kang Jun said, Feng Zhengyi did not know whether to be angry or proud of Kang Jun. The man was very good at going for the kill. Looking at his grandmother straight in the eyes, Kang Jun sharpened his gaze. "My daughter isn't going anywhere."
Hearing his last words, everyone at the table couldn't help but look at Kang Jun with awe.
It was like all those 34 years he had spent in the family, the man had just been sleeping. Only now was he truly revealing his ruthless nature.
This is probably my favourite chapter so far. I wish I could have called it “Kang Jun doesn’t give a fuck”
Sorry I posted this so late, I was fishing up my essay. Thank the lord that reading week is next week. Soon I can take lots of time to relax!
