Chapter 56: Did You Really Give Up The Single Life?

The next morning, when Lu AnLing woke up from her slumber, the first thing she saw was Kang Mingyu still sleeping soundly. The room was not as dark as it was when she'd fallen asleep and small rays of light crept into the room from behind the white curtains.

Kang Jun hadn't come back. At least that was what she guessed. The thought made her heart tug slightly. What could have kept the man from coming back?

A girl perhaps?

Her hand that was at her chest squeezed hard.

'Girl, what are you thinking about…' She was slightly disappointed about the way she felt for Kang Jun. He was just being nice to her because she saved Kang Mingyu. That didn't mean he liked her, or anything… and even if he did, they weren't dating so he didn't have to hold his urges back.

Shutting her eyes, Lu AnLing got rid of the thought and she then turned around groggily.

Once on the other side, her eyes fluttered open. Her vision was blurry because she hadn't been wearing her glasses but she could clearly see the shape of a man lying beside her.

A familiar scent made its way to her nose causing her heart to skip a beat.

'Oh no…'

Lu AnLing lifted herself up, pushing herself almost completely off the bed. Her body was leaning backward about to fall on the floor but before she did, a strong hand grabbed onto her wrist, pulling her back to bed.

Lu AnLing felt herself land into the man's strong arms. Feeling the all too familiar warmth, all the blood drained from her face and she refused to breathe.

In front of her eyes, she could now clearly see the shirtless man.

'Oh fuck…'

Guilt rose up from the pit of Lu AnLing's stomach. What had she done? Was yesterday not a dream?

With the sound of Kang Jun's voice, Lu AnLing's mind turned hazy. "Are you okay?"

'Okay… I fear I'll never be okay again.'

She could die of embarrassment… but before she did, a phone began to ring and there was a sudden knock at the door.

Knock, knock, knock!

Ring, ring, ring!

Kang Jun and Lu AnLing didn't move. Though they both knew that they should. There was barely any space between them, and Kang Jun's hand was now placed firmly on Lu AnLing's waist.

Not wanting to let go, Kang Jun tried to reach for his phone that was incessantly ringing, while Lu AnLing was in his arms obediently accepting the man's movements. Because of this, he ended up pressing his bare chest onto her bare shoulder.

Feeling the direct contact, Lu AnLing was so shocked that she was frozen. Catching a whiff of his sent, she dropped in ecstasy.

Her heart began to beat faster and faster but she had no idea what to do.

Meanwhile, Kang Jun checked his phone and began to frown. There were a limited amount of people who knew his phone number and those who did never bothered or dared to call or text him much.

Now, there were messages that filled the screen.

#9: [ Yo! I heard that you accepted an engagement!]

#9: [Did you really give up on the single life? Are you really going to do it?]

#9: [Is that true?]

[You Missed a Call From #9]

#9: [ Answer!! I'm dying here!]

#9: [Yooooo, big brooooooo!!!!!]

All of his contacts were either family or business partners. Minus Lu AnLing of course. Most people were saved as their names on his phone, with the exception of his family members.

The number 9 represented his youngest brother.

Reading the annoying messages, Kang Jun felt the intense urge to beat his brother up. If the boy believed he could bother him early in the morning, Kang Jun had certainly not beat him well enough. He had really been way too passive these six or so years.

Kang Jun sighed.

Feeling the warm air brush against the nape of her neck, Lu AnLing couldn't help but shiver.

Kang Jun felt her reaction, and he couldn't help but smirk. He didn't really think he did much at all, but apparently, her body was honestly attracted to him.

Though he had figured that out last night.

Knock, knock, knock!

Kang Jun ignored the knocks once more but, Lu AnLing just couldn't. She opened her mouth to say something but as she stared into Kang Jun's deep dark eyes, she felt herself at a loss for words.

They were in their own world.

But in behind them, Kang Mingyu had awoken. Ever since the first knock, he had been awake but he was still tired so he refused to move. Last night he had also been awoken by some strange sounds and then the sound of a shower but he ignored it knowing that Kang Jun had probably returned.

Once the second round of knocks came, Kang Mingyu began to get annoyed so he lifted himself off the pillow somewhat unwillingly.

He needed to open the door.

But what was his uncle doing?!

If Kang Jun was there he would have opened the door right?

Rubbing his eyes, Kang Mingyu wondered if Kang Jun had actually come back and if Lu AnLing was still there instead then.

"Auntie…?" he groaned.

Hearing the young boys voice, Lu AnLing's heart stopped and an intense fear sent warning signals to her brain that told her to run, but there was nowhere to go… so she pushed on Kang Jun's chest hard sending them both toppling over the other side of the bed and onto the floor with a thud.

Hearing the sound, the boy blinked away the sleepiness in his eyes. If he remembered correctly, his auntie had sung a song for him until he'd fallen asleep. Kang Mingyu turned to look around the room.

There was no-one there except for himself. At least that was what he thought, but he was mistaken.

When Kang Mingyu suddenly heard Lu AnLing's panicked voice, he ran to the side of Kang Jun's bed.

There, Lu AnLing laid on top of Kang Jun, pressing her soft chest against him.

The both of them looked slightly disheveled. Mingyu wondered if the two had fought or something. How else would they end up in such a position, looking like they did?

"I'm so sorry!" AnLing almost screamed. She tried her best to get off of Kang Jun but her legs were asleep.

Kang Jun didn't respond.

He didn't know what to say!

'It's okay?' No, it was not. 'It's not your fault?' Of course, it was. The man was at a complete loss, so he said nothing at all.

As AnLing continued to squirm on top of him, Kang Jun's eyes rolled at the back of his head. He began to feel a problem awakening in his pants so he quickly pushed her off, making sure not to use too much strength.

He didn't want the girl to notice what had just happened.

But it was too late…

Lu AnLing had already begun to feel something stiffen before he'd pushed her off. The sensation left her speechless. She just stared at the man blankly with crimson cheeks.

Knock, knock, knock!

The sound was much much louder than before.

Who in the hell could that be?!

Frowning, Kang Jun made his way to the door. Leaving Lu AnLing still partially shocked. Kang Mingyu was left to tend to her, but he wasn't sure what had just happened, so he just stared at her as blankly as she had starred at the leaving Kang Jun.

At the door, Kang Jun slowly opened it.

There, stood Elder Kang and behind him, there were two people. One he quickly recognized as Secretary Rong but the other was a face he hadn't see for a while…

Qiao Jianhong's assistant, and Secretary Rong's niece, Rong Yue Wan.

"Hello, Ah Jun." The girl said softly with a blush as she stared at Kang Jun's chest.

Kang Jun had always been a good looking man but the way he looked at the moment should be illegal to show in public. His body was pretty amazing. He had a toned and slightly tanned body and at 6'2 he towered above the three, so they could help but stare at his glistening muscles.

Seeing them all together, Kang Jun frowned harder.

Kang Jun closed the door as much as he could to assure that no one would be able to look inside.

Kang Jun: "Grandfather... what do you want?"

"Come out, have a meal with us. We all need to talk. And if Mingyu's in there, bring him too. I heard that you'd been using this room permanently, instead of your villa. May I ask why?"

Kang Jun shrugged. "It's closer to work."

Elder Kang was going to ask why he also bought the room beside him but in front of Yue Wan, he felt as if the question was inappropriate...

Seeing as his grandfather had nothing to say, Kang Jun said, "Give me a second. We'll meet you downstairs." before he slammed the door shut.

Elder Kang was left staring at the door angrily but also curiously.

"No manners." Elder Kang huffed.

Inside the room, Kang Jun walked over to Lu AnLing who still sat on the floor facing the bed with her back against the wall. She was in a daze. While he'd been gone, Kang Mingyu had joined her and he now leaned his head lovingly on her side as one arm wrapped around him.

The both of them had heard everything at the door. Because of this, Kang Mingyu was frowning slightly but the strangest expression worn was the one on Lu AnLing's face. It was blank but at the same time, there was a darkness in her eyes.

"Get ready." Kang Jun said to Kang Mingyu.

The boy looked at him and frowned. "Do I have to."

"Yes."

Kang Mingyu frowned and then went to the bathroom.

Seeing that Kang Mingyu was gone, Kang Jun bent down to Lu AnLing. Her face was a mix of emotions as her thumb played with the ring on her finger.

"Are you okay?"

AnLing looked up at Kang Jun. When she saw how close he was she jolted to the side. "I-I'm fine."

Kang Jun was going to persist that she didn't look fine but she didn't look like she wanted to talk about it, so he decided to give up.

Lu AnLing looked up at Kang Jun with doe eyes. "So you guys are going out?"

"Yes." Kang Jun felt something stir inside but still, he spoke quickly, before he paused. "I think it's best if you stay here for now though. At least until after we come back."

Lu AnLing furrowed her eyebrows. "Why?"

'Because my grandfather is being nosy, and I don't want him to find out about you and then cause you trouble' He wanted to say, but instead he opted for,

"I'll explain later."

Lu AnLing knew that it had something to do with the people who had just come so she didn't protest. To her silence, Kang Jun patted her head and said,

"Good girl."

Feeling his touch, Lu AnLing blushed slightly. "You're strange."

"How so?" Kang Jun asked seriously.

"Why are you treating me so… Kindly. I heard that Kang Jun was an evil beast that made a person blood run cold with the first contact."

Kang Jun shrugged. It was mostly true. He wasn't interested in being kind to many people and he'd done things to make people fear him. So those rumors, he couldn't refute. "Do you believe rumors?"

Lu AnLing didn't answer. She thought for a minute. There was no way she'd believe this rumors after the way Kang Jun had treated her but the difference between the way people talked about him and the way he was to her was just too bipolar!

"Either way," Kang Jun started without waiting for her answer, drawing Lu AnLing's attention to him."They also say that I'm fat, ugly and gay."

Lu AnLing almost laughed in the man's face but she slapped her hand on her mouth before she could.
