Chukah continued to follow the man all the way to the western territory. Tripping and out of breath, the Eye man had finally made it to his destination. It was a regular inn, however, when he entered through the doors, he was not even acknowledged by the attendant as he made his way behind the counter and entered through a secret door.
Chukah had latched himself onto the man as to not lose him, observing his surroundings and studying everything.
After the man entered the secret passage, he followed a dark hallway all the way to a door he had knocked on four times.
"At the top looking down is...?" asked a voice from the other side.
"The Eye," answered the man.
Click! The door opened up.
"Who are you?" asked the same voice, which came from a beautiful young lady, wearing barely any clothes.
"I-I've been sent to report to Master," answered the man, never did he think that one of the Master's closest subordinates would be the one to get the door for him personally.
"Say what you have to say, I'll let him know if it's important, and I'll kill you if it's not," demanded the young lady, she was not as sweet as she looked.
The Eye man recognized her, she was the third in charge when it came to the clan.
'Why was she here?' he wondered, but it was none of his business an focused on keeping his life instead.
"Of course, it's important, we got the priestess! She showed up at the lake we have been trying to get into in the East," quickly said the man fearfully.
The lady blankly stared at him, then walked away.
"Wait here!"
Chukah upon entering the room had gone to hide in the shadow of the room. It was a luxurious living space, with multiple rooms and different people walking around.
"Follow me!" the young lady ordered after she came back, bringing the man with her.
Chukah continued to follow them until they reached a room, filled with the pungent smell of blood and from the outside, Chukah could hear the miserable cries of someone; it was a torture room.
The Eye man realizing his fate wanted to run but could not, so he stood still as his legs shook.
"You're alright?" asked the girl as she laughed at the man's legs shaking.
"Y-yes...I'm just tired from running nonstop," he lied.
"Ah," the girl coldly eyed him.
"Bring him in," ordered a man's voice inside.
The girl pushed the man inside the room and losing his balance he tripped on his legs falling on the wet ground. When he looked up, he saw a disfigured corpse hung by a hook with bloody lashes all over.
"Ahhh!' he screamed in horror.
"Hahaha! Sissy!" mocked the girl.
"So you claimed you got the priestess over at the East Lake?"
The man's head buzzed, 'that was the master's voice.' He did not dare look up and kept his head down as he stammered out what happened.
"Incompetent!!! What's the use of coming here now and tell me, by the time I go there they'll be gone! Fuck! That's the second time already." The Master said. He then went silent as he contemplated his options.
He had already gone over to the Unknown Land to report and since he did not even know who the priestess was they refused to lend him help. He had already lost most of his men in that fake temple. However...
"Nephi, prepare to ambush them either in the South. By the way, she is traveling, her next destination is definitely here, towards the Ubdi Lake. Those findings were indeed related to the priestesses. Who knows maybe she'll also go though the Unknown Land. We cannot let that happen, or it will be our heads rolling. Go and prepare yourself, we'll follow them as soon as they drop the barrier this time," ordered the man.
"Yes, Master!" the young lady answered and left.
The man who had come report was about to also leave, but he was stopped by a force, which pushed him back and threw his back up towards the hook.
"You smell funky, and I don't like it!" said the Master before whipping the man mercilessly.
Chukah flinched upon hearing about the smell, it must have been because of him. Latching on that man leaked some of his beastly aura which could smell like a wild Jackal.
'Sensitive nose! Must have been a dog in his previous life,' cursed Chukah inwardly at the man.
He now had to get out of that place without alerting anyone and go warn Tria of their plan. Although he was disappointed that he did not discover much, remaining behind would only put Tria in danger.
