Chapter 4: Question 4 - Are you strive for power?
After making sure nothing wrong by examining three black letters and it's seal on my hand, I open them one by one. The first letter is from my subordinate in my mercenary group. I establish them a few years ago after realizing this world condition is harsher and crueler than my previous world.
The clan concept exists in this world with sole reason to protect their bloodline from spreading. It's because two things determine how strong someone in this world. Bloodline, and internal energy stage or cultivation level as people in this world says. However, that is a surface knowledge for ordinary people. There is something that only stronger clans know, like secret cultivation technique, artifacts, enhancing potions, and many other things.
Different with my previous world, bloodline in this world carry real ability. For example me, I inherited my mother bloodline ability, changing my body at will or shapeshifting. Not really the strongest ability but enough to protect me.
History books prove stronger clans are inherently arrogant because they feel superior from the weaker bloodline, of course, that what I read between the lines. They usually didn't get any repercussions even after killing another living being, because they got protection from their clan, so their arrogance is built up, spiraling each generation and make caste system now.
Those are the thing I most hate as a person who passes through three eras in my previous life. Monarchy, revolution and democratic era. Those who in power usually abuse their power after knowing they are immune, and every time my loved ones are the one who becomes their victim. This life, I won't hope they will benevolent enough to let my family alone, I will gather power from the shadow to protect them from any possible threat.
Even if shapeshifting isn't adding my fighting power, it is a versatile ability when I want to infiltrate a building, escape from a pursuer and this ability makes me easier to build an organization because my current body isn't suitable to build their trust. I can build my mercenary member trust thanks to my ability too, there a handy people who know my real identity.
I can recognize the letter authenticity by the unique aura in the seal. If the one who opens this letter isn't me, it will spark flames and burn to ashes while the sender will immediately know.
I open and read the letter thoroughly, looking at good works at his reports my lips curl upwards. Dana, who come from another room bringing sweet cookies, I finally can feel my tastebud after reborn to this world, so don't judge me.
"What's the good news?" he asks after look at my smile.
"Oh, our mercenary group finally secure nearly all trade routes in the main continent," I say calmly, even though my heart exhilarated by this good news.
After hearing the news, even Dana can't hide his elated and happy expression. Well, he doesn't suit to play poker. He immediately says his congratulations and brings more cookies again from another room.
I eat those cookies more, and read the detailed report in the letter's attachment, and tell them general ideas for fixing their current problem and further consolidate our position as the main market distributor in the normal and black market.
After finished writing a letter for the mercenary head. I open and read another letter from rare plant supplier head, as the name implied, I establish this organization with purpose as the main supplier of rare alchemist and apothecary material.
This organization is relatively new so it not as large as the mercenary organization. However, with proper management and help from the mercenary, it has a high chance to monopoly market, but right now not the time.
Their letter consists of the routine report, so not many I can't comment because consolidating position as the material producer is a slow process, they need to acquire rare seeds, find the proper place to each plant, and most time consuming is harvesting them. The mercenary can help for most of them but I can't get hurried and makes a rookie mistake in this critical juncture.
I write another letter to the organization's head to make him know about trade route and my advice as their consideration when choosing primary plants to cultivate later.
The last letter is from the alchemist organization, I established it even newer than the supplier organization because of hard-time convincing them. Even big clans have very few alchemists in their side after enticing with many resources. I did the same thing as those clan, enticing them with resources. At first, they skeptical as always and that's normal. If they immediately agree, I will become the skeptical one. When they see my organization improvement rate in a few months, they finally agree.
I must admit, they are the most stubborn people I ever met. Nevertheless, our cooperations are beneficial for both sides, hence I can let it slide. Like in this letter, they give me their research about poisons. I don't think will need this soon, but it always better safe than sorry.
I write my thanks, and promise will send another batch resources later. After finished read all letters, I give them my seal and instructs Dana to send them to respective persons.
All and all, my days passed as usual, and I decided it's time to go home.
