Chapter 28: Bazaar
As promised, Reeve scheduled the holiday shopping for us. We went into this outdoor bazaar where there are lots of tents and several goods. The food stands were so tempting but he said that we should roam around first.
"Do you have your list?" he asked.
"Yeah" I took a paper inside my bag. He peeked and then smiled.
"I know its a small list..." rolling my eyes at him.
"I just wanted to see if my name was there."
I checked my list again and his name was on top of the list together with Kenji. I want to facepalm myself. Good thing that I didn't put what I want to give him. Well more like actually I don't know what to give him.
"Where's your list?" I became curious on who are the persons important to him.
"I dont have" he replied right away.
"Why?"
"The ones I want to give gifts are you and Kenji" while he was checking out on some statement shirts on display.
"For real?!" I know this person likes to joke with me most of the time.
"Yeah" he replied fast again. I just shook my head in disbelief. This guy really...
He picked a powder blue flared dress with a flower embroidery on the bottom and placed it in front of me. "This looks good on you. Go and try it on" he handed me the dress and took the baby. The salesperson assisted right away to the small fitting area. I tried it on and looked at myself in the mirror. This dress is really nice like its summer ready. I came out and twirled left and right which made the tress turn with me. He was laughing at me. He put on a woven hat on my head with a matching blue ribbon.
"You look cute in that dress" he faced the sales lady and told her that he'll get it. Wow just like that and I didn't get any say on it. He also took a three similar shirts and handed it to her. I went back inside and gave the dress to her. She placed everything inside the bag and then he took it.
"Is that your christmas gift to me?" I asked.
"No" he replied fast while checking out some stuffs from some of the store.
"Then what is your gift to me?" I tugged his sleeve like a child getting excited with presents.
"If I tell you then it's not a surprise anymore"
"So what are we buying for Kenji?"
"Let's get him a cute Christmas outfit" he grinned.
"Don't play with the baby" I warned him.
"Just something red will do and we can't buy him too much clothes cause he will outgrew it sooner or later. You know this kid is getting bigger fast." I liked his practicality. He had a point in that. If it were only me I would surely get him a lot of clothes. It's nice to dress up babies right?
"Want some milk tea?" I didn't notice that we were already in front of the food cart. He ordered two drinks and then observing the whole Bazaar while waiting. A man stood in front of us and told us to smile. We smiled right away and then gave us the photo from his instax camera.
"We have a photobooth there." Pointing on left side. "Feel free to come over and have your family photo" he left even before we replied. We both looked at the photo and laughed at it. We looked so goofy with our smile and even Kenji was caught laughing.
"We will definitely go there." I said.
"Your wish is my command Madam" he replied curtly.
We went walking again and I was able to complete the gifts on my list except for the both of them. I'm not buying it here because I wanted it to be a surprise too. I can do it too.
We dropped by at the photo booth and posed several times. We took some props in there and it was fun. The guy handed us two pieces of the photo. The quality is good.
"It's good. Can we contact you for our son's first birthday?" I inquired.
"Sure." he handed us a small leaflet with their business card. "Just give us a call and we'll be happy to assist you."
"Thank you!" I chimed.
"Already planning for his first birthday?" he placed his hand on my shoulder putting me closer to him. I was about to be hit by a man passing by. I looked behind at the man and saw him looking at me too. I averted my eyes and looked at Reeve who looked displeased. Does he knew the guy? There's something different with his reaction. I looked behind again and the guy was nowhere to be found.
"It's odd..."
"What?"
"Nothing..." I wanted to ask if he knew that guy but I just kept my mouth shut.
"We'll do some grocery tomorrow. Is that okay?" his mood changed already or its more like he's trying to change it.
"Yeah it's fine with me."
"Let's go?" and now he's in a hurry to go home suddenly.
"Okay" I nodded at him.
We headed to our parked car and placed everything we bought inside. We drove home quietly and this is defeaning.
"Is something bothering you?" I looked at him observing his reaction.
He pouted his lips before answering "Nope"
"Are you sure? You don't look fine to me" I wanted answers but I don't want to pressure him.
"Nothing. Anyway you want ice cream?" He's avoiding the topic. I don't want to ruin his mood any further. So I just smiled and nodded. He smiled back at me and his eyes says otherwise.
Now I'm getting curious and lot of things are running on my mind. I stopped when he handed me the ice cream. I didn't notice that we were parked somewhere.
"I'm sorry..." his face was resting on the steering wheel.
"For what?" I was puzzled. Am I too obvious with my facial expressions? Or am I that easy to read?
"I mistook the guy for someone else and it reminded me of some bad memories." he still handing me the ice cream. He was doing this puppy eyes. How can I not accept his apology. So I took it from him and he smiled but his eyes were sad.
"It's okay... Let's go home..."
I'll let this pass. I'll wait until he's ready to tell me everything. Yes we've been together for sometime but it's not like I have the 'right' to pry on his personal matters.
This reminds me... What are we?
