3rd POV
"How is he?" Makarov asked an elderly woman who was standing next to Ray's bed as he wore a heavy expression. The woman is a slim and tall elderly woman with pink hair, tied in a bun on the back of her head by two large pins with crescent moon-shaped edges, and with two bangs of hair left framing her face. She has reddish eyes, and a beauty mark located below her mouth, on the left side of her face.
"How does he look like? He is missing two limbs and he has both slash wounds and tears on his skin all over his body. And even with the best medicine I have, I can't heal even a single one of these wounds on him. I don't think I can even make a prosthetic arm and leg for him with how the wound is closed on the missing body parts. And finally, there is that blackness that is spreading to his body from his wounds." The woman, who was Porlyusica who Makarov sent for replied with both annoyance apprehension as she kept her furrowed eyebrows and stared at Ray who was lying on the bed unconscious.
This was the first time such a case has happened to her and she didn't like it. She is proud of what she has accomplished in the medical field and to see that she couldn't do anything to fix this was a massive blow to her.
"I wouldn't worry about his limbs since Anna mentioned he could regrow them, but that blackness on his body is worrying. How long will it take for it to spread on his body fully and when will he wake up?" Makarov gave a weary sigh and spoke up after he recalled one of the conversations he had with Anna when Ray had left this time and asked what was worrying him.
"At this rate, I would say in a day or two his whole body will be covered in that. As for when he will wake up, I don't know. His heart is beating at a very slow pace like it is giving up on him but it is showing no real signs of stopping. This is not like anything I have experienced so I really can't say for sure." Porlyusica couldn't help but rub her scrunched up eyebrows as the condition that Ray was in really was giving her a headache and she couldn't wait for him to wake up and tell every single thing about his condition.
"Well, just make sure he is alive until he wakes up. That is all we can really do right now anyway." Makarov spoke up here and gave a nod to his former team mate before he headed outside where every member of the guild was waiting for news regarding Ray. The girls were also there and it had taken a lot of effort on Porlyusica's part to get them out of the infirmary and let her work on Ray alone.
"Master, how is he?" Erza was the first to ask when she saw Makarov coming out of the infirmary as the rest of the girls and the guild perked their ears to hear what Makarov was going to say. It has already been over six hours since they had sent Ray into the infirmary and they were all anxious to hear any good news on his condition.
"For now, we can't say anything. None of the medicine Porlyusica has is working on him and it's all up to Ray's natural healing now. All we can do is pray for him to wake up and recover quickly." Makarov broke the guilds hope of hearing good news and instead spoke what Porlyusica had told him.
"Can we see him?" Anna asked after hearing what Makarov said and her eyes held both worry and hope as she looked at him. It wasn't only her though, as the rest of the girls were also wanting to see him but they didn't want to rush in and end up disturbing either Ray or Porlyusica.
"Wait a bit more, girls. You will be allowed to meet him soon. For now, give him some time to wake up at least." Makarov gave his grandfatherly smile as he spoke to them as he knew what the girls were going through them. But unfortunately, he knew that now was not the time to let them meet him as this was a crucial time for Ray's condition. And not to mention that blackness spreading across his body, if the girls were to see that, they might get into a worse emotional state.
The girls and also the rest of the guild hearing this could only nod their heads at that and went back to the guild hall and tried to keep their minds off of this whole situation. Some of them were cleaning around the table that Ray crashed through and some were also cleaning up the blood on the ground from his wounds.
Thinking of his wounds and the blood on the ground brought back the memory of the residual aura that had been released to the guild through the space crack and they couldn't help but shiver in fear when they recalled the feeling. Even now, there was a bit of the aura left in the air but it wasn't enough to trouble them anymore.
"Hey, that aura. Was it from Ray or was it from the guy he was fighting? Just what the hell was that guy doing this time?" Gray spoke up suddenly, breaking the heavy silence that had fallen on the guild and clenched his fists when he recalled feeling fear and helplessness when he fell under that aura. it wasn't even the whole aura, it was only the residual aura and he felt fear. It was just like when he had confronted Deliora.
"I don't know but one thing is for sure, that wouldn't have been a fight any of us could have handled." Natsu was the one who spoke this which surprised everyone since they knew that Natsu was never a person who backed out of a fight despite the odds against him. And to hear him say this surely surprised them.
"What? I may act like nothing can beat me against even Gildarts but I'm not stupid enough to believe that I would stand a chance against someone who could release such an aura." Natsu spoke with an unusually serious face on him when he saw the way the rest were staring at him.
"Whatever the case is, it's not something that we can do anything about. Like master said, all we can do is pray for him to wake up." Macao, one of the oldest member of the guild spoke from near the bar and began to direct the rest on aa more lighthearted talk to get them away from the heavy atmosphere.
While this was going on, the girls were still standing near the door to the infirmary as they waited for Ray to wake up. No matter how long it may take, they were going to be as near to him as possible. While they could not stay by his side to take care of him, they would be near him and be the first from the guild to meet him when he wakes up.
MC POV
I started to open my eyes after I finished my talk with god and realized I was inside the guilds' infirmary. Knowing this, I could finally sigh in relief as I had some doubts that the scene I saw before losing consciousness was a fragment of my imagination.
"You are finally awake. Good, we have something to talk about. But I guess we can save that for some time later as there are people who are dying to see you." As I took my surroundings in, I heard a voice speak up from the side. When I looked to the voice, I saw an elderly woman standing there who I recognize as Porlyusica.
"Well, I guess I shouldn't keep them waiting should I?" I smiled knowing who she was talking about and also couldn't help but dread whatever scolding they were going to throw at me.
