Chapter 105: Chapter 24: Castle
Ooh, magnificent castle. But I wouldn't want to live in it. Too suffocating. I push the front door and it opens. Like a typical castle. There is a main lobby behind the door. Stairs leading to upper floors. And a corridor leading to where I sense the life signals.
Obviously, I head toward the corridor. I come before a big door leading to main room. I sense four life behind this room. I guess moment of truth is finally here.
I push the door open and come into the room to see a man and woman sitting on a thrones, man and woman in their twenties.
I guess they are the duke's family.
"Welcome, warrior."
The duke speaks. I thought he became a werewolf permanently. It seems he still think he is a noble. Okay, I will play along.
"Nice to meet you, Your Grace. I'm here to kill you."
I bow toward him. And I see him smirking toward me.
"One that does not know its place. But at least you are polite. Still, I may have use for you yet."
As he says that, the man next to him come to the front.
"I have no interest in wasting my time on a peasant. So, let get it over with."
Ooh, that is so clichéd. Typical noble.
As I activate my armor, my armor starts to cover my body. And as he sees that, strange runes like things start to glow on his body. I think those runes are written with mana as an ink and as he pumps more mana into it, more the runes amplify his body. That is awesome.
"Are you ready, peasant?"
Hehe, ignorant fool. I raise my hand and wave him over. As soon as he saw that, he lunges at me. Quite quick. But not enough. He comes in my range and swings with his right hand. I squat and dodge his swing.
I spin on the ground and try to sweep his feet. He does a cartwheel kick on my head, I raise my hand and block his kick. He somehow jumps in the air, lands on his feet few meters away from and looks at me. I get up and wave him over again.
This time runes on his body changes again. Before they were glowing with blue light, now they are glowing with red light. I think he is changing properties of mana he is pumping into those runes.
After doing that, he lunges at me again. But this time, just like my dash, there was a micro explosion beneath his feet and that propels him toward me like a freight train,
He comes at me with right straight across my jaw. I block it with my right arm.
BOOM.
But for some reason, his punch explodes on my right arm like mine supposed to. And that explosion throws me away.
Hmm, that was unexpected. So, my guess is that he can use his mana like I do when I execute my first technique. But no exactly same way. I think it's his runes.
This time he waves me over. Well, you asked for it. I take my basic boxing stance and start to slowly approach him. He smirks at me. I don't know whether he is looking down on me or my boxing stance. But he will regret looking down on any of them.
I come in to his range soon enough. And as soon as that happens, he swings with his right hand, again. This time, I squat down to dodge his swing. As soon as his swing pass over my head, I stand back up again and throw a jab right into his face.
He squats to dodge my jab, too. But I predicted that, as soon as he squats down I raise my feet and kick him across his ribcage. But my kick fails to make him move. So, I pumped mana into my greaves and made a little bit of explosion.
As that happens, inertia from the explosion throws him away. And I felt quite a few ribs breaking under that impact.
After falling, he takes a while to stand up. But this time he starts to shake. Ooh, I think it is happening. He starts to grow bigger as he shivers all over his body. Yup, he is shifting. Pitch-black werewolf. More than two meters tall. Looking toward me. Standing there.
"That was a lucky shot, peasant."
He talks. I was pretty sure he lost his mind. But apparently, I guessed wrong. And his runes are still glowing, but with black light.
Now, this will be interesting. While he finishes his shift, I conjure up my katana. He lunges at me again. This time without propulsion from explosion. Simply with his body. But that lunge was almost twice as fast as the propelled one.
He's in front of me in a moment's time. Quick. But still not enough. Just as he entered my range, I swing my katana horizontally. As he sees that, he raises his arm and try to block my katana. Idiot. Just as I was thinking it was over, my katana fails to cut his arm as rune on his arm protects him from my katana.
He slashes at me with his claws, his claws manage to slash through my armor and draw blood. That was unexpected.
I grip onto his arm as he slashes my armor, pull it over to throw him over and smash him onto the ground. And I pull his arm again and swing him around, smashing him onto the floor.
After swinging him around few times, I let him go. He is on the floor breathless. But I can still hear his body healing as I hear his bones getting back into place.
I bring my sword up and bring it down on his neck. Just as I was about to decapitate him, I feel burning feeling from my left side. I turn left and slash with my katana.
BOOM!
I cut a blazing fireball with my katana and the fireball explodes right on my face. It fails to wound me but it still manages to throw me away from the man.
After standing up, I look toward the thrones and see the woman pointing her arm toward me with some kind of tome floating next to her.
She puts her left hand on the tome and points her right toward the man. As she does that, green rune flies out of her right hand and lands on the man. As the rune lands on the man, his healing accelerates.
And only after few seconds he stands up again. I guess that was healing rune. Those runes are way too useful. If possible I would love to learn about them more.
After getting up, the man tries to lunge at me again but the duke raises his hand and the man stops. I suppose duke is holding his leash quite firmly.
"You are indeed worthy opponent warrior. Seeing that you can defeat my son, I can tell that you are capable enough to defeat my guards."
"Thanks for the compliment, your grace."
"Like I said I may have a use for you yet."
"Once again, thanks for the compliment. But I'm not the one to be used by others."
"And who said your opinions matter?"
"Well, I guess I did."
"And once again, who said your opinions matter?"
Ooh, this dude got issues. I need to finish this quickly. So, I beckon to Noir and Fenrir. They come out and stand next to me.
"Your beasts are impressive too. I will definitely have a use for them too."
After saying that, he starts to shift too. Other two women do the same too. And four lycans look toward like looking at a piece of meat. I guess I need to kill all of them to ascend to the next floor.
"Then shall we start the main event?"
