In the hallway of Asrael's highschool, people moved and pushed passed eachother. As full as it was, it wouldn't take long for the packed corridor to disperse. After the murder, students began leaving school quickly, no one liked to stick around too long out of fear.
It was amazing the school wasn't shut down after all the concerned parents complained. The amount of transfers from the school wasn't small, either. Additionally, the police couldn't continue their investigation.
The reason there was no investigation was answered with difficulty. The public was told that the murdered student was not murdered, and it was actually a suicide. No one believed it, but they weren't really given an option.
To the higher ups, it was known though, that someone was offended, and they shouldn't get involved.
After Asrael walked past one the classrooms he paused and turned back, he heard something, so he went to take another look inside.
"I don't want to go!" Chrysa whined.
"Please! C'mon, everyone is going!" Beth begged adamantly.
"Beth, I said no! Ryland was murdered, and I'm still shaken up after what happened." Chrysa hugged herself with unconcealed fear in her eyes.
"It's already been awhile! And besides, it was a suicide!"
"We both know that isn't true."
"If you don't go to the party on Saturday, I'm going to tell Asrael you like him!" Beth seemed to be teasing her.
Chrysa's face flushed red, as she stuttered, "N-no, I, I d-don't!"
"Pftt-! Yea right, you totally do! I bet you'll go if he does!"
"Bethannyy-! I'm not going!"
"Uck. Really? You're so lame." Beth did a full 180°, speaking in full seriousness. "That's why Asrael doesn't like you back, you're such a wet blanket."
"But-"
Beth interrupted in a sweet voice, "I bet Asrael's going. The truth is, Chrysa, I kind of like him. But, since you like him, I'll step aside. But then, if it turns out that he likes me instead, you won't mind, will you? I'd feel so bad if..."
"Bethany, stop... okay? I'll go! And, I don't like him, so-!" Chrysa pursed her lips, trying to hide the turmoil in her heart.
Asrael saw and heard it all. He could even detect all the poison in Bethany's words. If she tried anything, he wouldn't overlook it. Ah, wait. He'd almost forgotten his goal here.
Bethany should be beneficial to his plan, right? So why does he hate her so much? He knew the answer, but it was still hard to admit.
He had no idea that all his plans would blow up in his face. All because of a little mishap on Saturday.

His ride had arrived. Merlin in a black van rolled up to the school. Getting into the passenger seat, he gave the man a questioning look.
"Lufti couldn't make it today." The man with teeth as yellow as mustard spoke.
"Oh? And you thought it was alright to come get me in a van?" Asrael raised an eyebrow.
"Your favorite Mercedes is currently... in the repair shop."
"What happened?" Asrael gave him a cold glance. "You had better give me a good excuse. I'm not in a good mood today."
"I took it for a spin and scratched it."
"Merlin. I think it's rather brave of you to protect Rana like that. Let her know that I'll deal with her at a later date." Asrael look at him chillingly.
Merlin shivered, but he still had something to notify his boss about. "Lufti wanted me to tell you that an organization of assassins is holding a search for someone on Saturday, he said that it's under the cover of a highschool party. Also, that they are probably looking for you."
"Huh." Asrael was surprised. He was suddenly excited for Saturday even more than he already was. "Which Organization?"
"They call themselves the 'Death Vendors'." Merlin was itching for a cigarette, but before he could get one out of the glove box, Asrael's gaze made him pause.
An insane-asylum worthy smile was plastered on his face, while his sky blue eyes glinted. Merlin couldn't help but recoil.
Asrael knows what's up
