A Ray of Hope?
Om's face was getting paler and paler by the moment but, he didn't notice it. He was still lost in his dreams as he stood there, in the middle of the corridor stupidly. Many times Ayush called out for him, but it was as if he didn't hear anything so, he also shook his head and sighed a little.
After who knows how long, the lights above the ICU suddenly went out and the door opened with a *click*. A doctor with a mask on his face came out.
He asked, "Who is the family member of the patient?"
The old couple and the young girl immediately went forward with concern and anxiousness written on their faces.
The young girl said hurriedly, "We are the patient's family. How is my brother? Is he alright?"
Everyone was now waiting for the final decision from the doctor. Just a nod from him could save the whole family while a shake of his would make the whole family shatter. But all of that wouldn't be his fault. 'It would be….mine.' Om screamed in his heart.
The doctor paused for a moment and said, "Miss, I am….really sorry to inform you, but we….. couldn't save him. We have done our utmost, but all those injuries have bled for quite a long while and….4 of his bone were broken from ribcage, out of which one was even pierced into the lungs. We did our best and tried to do everything to save him but…..all we lacked was time. If he was brought here a little bit earlier… we could've saved him."
Before the doctor could say anything else, Saksham's sister couldn't handle so big of a shock and fainted. Fortunately, Om was standing beside her so he hurriedly caught her falling body. But Om himself was not feeling so well right now.
What he feared came true. What he constantly denied in his heart that it wouldn't happen, just happened. It was like the whole world was getting dull and fuzzy by the moment. He just remained standing at that position, not aware when the old couple took the unconscious Saksham's sister from his hands. Not aware when Ayush dragged his body to sit on the bench.
He was not aware of anything. He was just constantly thinking of how to repent for this 'murder' in this lifetime. He thought about how Saksham's family was going to do after this. Would they be able to live properly now? Now that Saksham's dead, who is going to fill their stomachs? Will they even….survive?
After around 5 min, Saksham's sister woke up. But even after waking up, there was no sound that came out of her mouth. Only tears fell down unceasingly. Om turned his head robotically and saw this.
Right now, Om was starting to shout in his heart. 'After I died I was reborn and got a Life-Changing system. But what did it change in my life? Nothing! Nothing at all. Now, because of me Saksham is dead his whole family may not even able to survive. Although I could help them but, how much could I do with this little amount of salary I get. ARGH!! My whole life is SH*-"
Suddenly, Om stopped. His eyes opened wide as realized something. His breathing also hastened as he suddenly stood up.
Ayush looked at Om and was suddenly confused. What happened to him? He thought.
"Om, are you okay?" Ayush asked with concern.
"Hmm..? Ahh..yes. I'm okay. I just want to go to the restroom for a bit. I'll be back in a moment." Om said as he immediately rushed off towards the restroom.
Seeing Om's weird behavior, Ayush was feeling a bit puzzled. So, he shook his head and looked at Saksham's family with a look of pity in his eyes.
In the restroom, Om was sitting on a toilet and looking at the door in front of him with a crazy look in his eyes. If somebody could actually see Om, they would feel that Om was an idiot or something. Who stares at the door like that. But fortunately, no one was peeping at him.
Actually, Om was looking at the Life-Changing System at this time. His eyes closely following the numbers that were constantly changing. When Om was sitting beside Ayush and constantly cursing himself, he suddenly heard a cold, magnetic voice in his head which woke him up from his despairing thoughts.
"Ding! There are enough [Popularity Values] for Lucky Spin now. The Host can convert the [Popularity Value] now or anytime later. Please keep up the work, Host. The Life-Changing System will truly change your life."
Hearing this, Om's mind went blank as if it was rebooting itself. After a proper 'start-up' did Om realize that he still had a Life-Changing system. Seeing the magical items he had gotten from the system till now, there definitely should be something that could bring Saksham back, right?
Now, Om could only rely on the system for this. Bringing back the dead is not what a mortal could do but, the system is godly and it might have some way which could bring Saksham back from the dead.
So, Om hurriedly came to the washroom to wash his face and once again calmly think about the situation. And now that he had calmed down, he faintly said in his heart.
"System, open!"
Suddenly, a virtual screen popped up out of nowhere. Om looked at the [Popularity Value] and was shocked a little. He saw that the [Popularity Value] at this time had already grown by a large amount. The last time he had checked the [Popularity Value] were [1,10,095] but now, they had grown to [7,09,886]. With the number of points he has now, he could use the Lucky Spin 3 times easily.
Thinking till here, Om was ecstatic. He felt that now, he truly had a chance to save Saksham. Now, he could only pray that system gave him things he'd wanted now.

interesting_guy77 My fellow readers. How has the week been for you? For me, it had been another busy week. But as I said, I won't stop to post. So, here it is (although a little late), the first chapter of the week. The next two chaps will be posted in the next few hours. Thank you for your patience.
