He was being watched he could tell it; he could see the signs of cameras turning in his direction has he walked the street, playing mind games with him. What was he suppose to do? And why were those cameras so persistent.
Every time he ran and hid, they would find him out. Search for him like he was a runaway spy, Was it really necessary to watch him so closely? It was almost comical at times.
Zion was nervous about the cameras because the person behind them knew more about what was going on than he did, right now he was wondering if he was even going to the right direction in finding Zatland.
He tried tracing the signal of the device that was now moving the cameras, but he couldn't find it, it was just taunting him. It felt like it was part of the security systems programming just to follow him around specifically.
He couldn't out-hack whoever it was that was following him, nor could he lose them permanently, they must have been using a program to search for his stature in multiple security systems. Now he definitely knew that this was the school testing him. This must have been a surprise assessment.
Things like these were known to happen when joining the military. Zion couldn't find Zatland no matter how hard he searched him. There was a chance he had gone the wrong direction when he chased after them.
His only option now was to turn around and retrace his steps from the beginning, and so he ended up revisiting the scene of the crime, where the lady was first shot.
When he got inside the store, everything was cleaned up, and the store had resumed business again Like nothing had happened here earlier.
When Zion entered, the people inside looked at him like he was a weirdo. Usually, nobody so young would enter here. This store was one of those businesses that people frequented when they were older, and couldn't afford planning for when they were younger. A place where you contemplated your own mortality. A life insurance firm.
"Excuse me, was there an assessment held here earlier?" Zion walked up to a blonde male clerk. Who wasn't here earlier. The clerk looked up at him and smiled.
"Yes, those guys from the hell base camp. Are doing their routine again." He said, "and they were here earlier," he seemed excited.
"Oh...do you happen to know which way they went?" Zion tried his luck.
" I have no idea, all of the employees were evacuated so that they could run their scenario."
Zion was disappointed "oh okay then thank you."
Zion turned around and walked to the next person, this time he would have to see if there were any other points of view that could enlighten him further.
Unfortunately, nobody knew anything else. He walked into the room of the shooting.
The place was clean, no trace of blood or whatever they used to stimulate it.
Zion looked around swiftly to see if anyone would notice him, he got out a knife and dug it into the carpet. At the bottom of the carpet, it was almost fully dry.
It's part of his training to take a sampling on whatever he could find. In a test like this, it was best to not break protocol.
Zion swabbed the semi-wet spot and put it away, he didn't have DNA testing functions on his phone, so it was useless, but he took it anyways, because it was his training.
Exiting the building, Zion looked across the street and to the four cross sections on the streets, Zatland was last seen running by. He took a register of all the security cams nearby.
He found a camera pointing from the door, at a pizza restaurant left of the crime scene.
Zion strolled right into the shop, finding the feedback console of the store. He plugs his watch in; a slightly started an illegal action in the full view of all the employees in the store.
He was so big that they immediately gave up on doing anything too him, by the way.
The employees just gazed at him, incredulously and afraid. Zion was flexing his muscles, so he already looked a size bigger. He exuded a deterrent factor that even Zatland couldn't rival. Zion decided to directly link to the feed because nobody would be able to block him from hacking in directly.
He downloaded a few minutes of footage and played it back.
He saw The Man, Him, and Zatland going into the store in sequence. He saw after a long while the man in the mask exiting and Zatland in pursuit.
So far they were going in the direction he assumed earlier.
Zion got out and went in that direction. He kept looking from place to place for footage. Whoever it was that was watching him couldn't block him from looking it up, because changing footage and erasing footage required to much time and bureaucracy to be allowed, viewing footage forcefully was possible. There was also too many policies that went into destroying footage.
There it was, he found an alleyway, in which Zatland suddenly diverged from his path.
This was the alleyway in which Isaac and Zatland had a short battle, and it was a point of confusion.
Because Zatland had completely switched his directions after having entered this alleyway.
He looked around, and discovered the buildings where to high around this area; they were part of the wave-like skyscrapers that covered the several business areas and living places.
That's why this alley was a little bit dark, the roof top of this area was like a bridge. If he looked hard enough, he could find an access to the red light district of Iron lake base.
Building ontop of building, surrounding building; this was Iron lake.
Zion tapped his phone, to navigate what would be around this area. Any place that Zatland would go while being chased.
