Chapter 33: Son in law
Ragna tilted his head, unsure of what he heard. Reki who was now in her man form was blushing, while Elise stared dumbfounded at her father.
"What did you just say?" Ragna asked Roland, confused at what the newcomer said.
"I said how about becoming my son-in-low?"
"Do you think I'm a lolicon? Why do I need to become your son-in-law?" Ragna asked confused at the whole conversation.
"Well seeing as you killed the whole clan of the City Lord, Archeon's Emperor most probably wont hesitate to execute a nobody like you... So the only way you might survive this, is if I vouch for you, but why would I do that to someone who isn't family? So why not become my son-in-law? That way no one loses, you get a cute wife, you don't die, and I'll get an excellent son-in-law."
When Roland explained Ragna's exact predicament and what would happen to him, Ragna finally understood what kind of situation he was in. He knew that the Lian Clan were in charge of Cromer City, but due to his rage he didn't really think things through, what would he do after annihilating the Lian Clan?
Based on what Roland says Cromer City was part of an empire, the Archeon empire. Even with the system, with Ragna's current strength he wasn't confident in handling a whole empire. When he looked at Roland, he asked the system how strong he was and the answer actually frightened him a bit. Elise's old man's strength is at the peak of the Nascent Soul realm, if Lian Feng was already someone who he couldn't kill, then Roland was an immortal monster in Ragna's eyes.
Now Ragna was sure he couldn't handle the empire, Roland alone was already more than enough to handle Ragna, he wasn't even sure how strong was the strongest warrior of the Archeon Empire. The Invincible Barrier was also nearing zero points. Still Ragna couldn't sound weak in front of others.
"Are you threatening me?" Ragna glared at Roland.
"No I'm simply stating facts." Roland replied with an amiable smile on his face. Elise then hugged her father's arm.
"Father, I like Big brother Ragna and if I have to marry I know Big brother Ragna would be a great partner... But if Big brother Ragna doesn't want to, then we shouldn't force him... Father can't you help him even without me marrying him?" Elise looked at her father with puppy dog eyes.
"Even if you do that Elise, I wont defend someone in front of the Emperor, if he wasn't family." Roland patted the little girl's head. Elise wanted to say more, but looking at her father's smiling face she stopped.
"So what say you Ragna? Want to be my son-in-law?"
"Let me ask you this instead, how old is your daughter?"
"She recently turned 13 before she left Astrakane, why?"
"I'm 18 years old, and your daughter is 13, she's five years younger than me."
"Don't men usually prefer a younger wife?"
"Then let me ask another question, in your country how old must one be to get married?" When Ragna asked this question, Roland looked surprised for a moment before answering.
"So your not from the Archeon Empire? I wonder where Ragna is from?..." Roland looked at Ragna even more interested than before. Ragna stayed silent, Roland simply shrugged his shoulder before continuing to talk.
"Well if you don't want to say, no need to answer... For now... So to answer your other question, to get married one must be 16 years old."
"See your daughter is too young to get married..."
"I don't know why your denying this so much... Is my daughter not pretty enough?" Surprised with the unexpected question, Ragna didn't know what to say.
"No, I won't say she isn't pretty, truthfully she is kind of cute, but that's not the point."
"So you think she's pretty, then do you hate my daughter personally?" Roland kept on asking Ragna unexpected questions.
"No I can't say I hate her, more like I find her a bit irritating, but in a good kind a way."
"So all in all, you like my daughter but think she's too young correct." The flow of questioning was too quick a pace, so Ragna answered almost reflexively.
"That's right!"
"Then if that's your only problem, you can simply be engaged to my daughter, and have the wedding once she turns 16."
When Ragna heard what Roland said, he finally realized that he fell for his lines hook line and sinker. Ragna stood there in a daze, while Elise jumped towards Ragna's side and hugged him.
"Yay, Big brother Ragna will be Elise's husband, I'll be Big brother's wife!" Elise said full of excitement.
Reki on the other hand couldn't keep up with the conversation, and took a few minutes to digest what had happened. Once she was up to speed, Reki went in front of the dazed Ragna and excited Elise, while blushing.
"Congratulations, Master, and Elise, I hope you have a wonderful wedding." Reki said so in a fast pace while blushing from ear to ear.
Ragna on the other hand was having a near mental breakdown. 'Am I a lolicon? System am I a lolicon?'
"Answering host... Not enough data to answer."
'Damn, so now I'm engaged to a loli... Is this also part of the otaku dream? Well on the bright side, I wont be killed by the empire, and I guess Elise would turn out into a beauty, so when she turns 16 I have nothing much to complain about, getting a young wife.'
When Ragna was contemplating about his current situation, Roland stood before him, and placed his hand on Ragna's shoulder.
"I expect great things from you son-in-law... Also if you make my daughter cry, you know what will happen." Roland was smiling as he said this, while whispering the latter half of what he said. Ragna couldn't feel it, but he was sure Roland was squeezing his shoulder strong enough that it would break. How did Ragna know, the Invincible Barrier points went down by one.
