Chapter 83: Familiar Smell
The familiar scent of Rune has my eyes flying back open. I look up to find him looking at me with deep golden eyes full of concern and barely constrained anger. I try to say something but I cough up more blood. His face crumbles as he quickly scoops me up holding me against his warm chest.
He was so warm... I had been so cold all this time but feeling it again has me relaxing in his arms. Even if this was all a dream... I'll take it. I can hear Rune say something as he hands me over to someone else but I can't make it out. I relax into the pair of arms as I feel Rune place a soft kiss on my forehead before turning around and walking away. I reach out to him but my world completely darkens.

Finding her in this state has me seeing red. I don't know why they're in the human world but it probably isn't anything good. As soon as I could feel the blood mark I left on Syn again I left without wasting a moment. Seeing her running for her life with Fig had broke my heart.
Ryder's death will be today. I look at her pale battered form one last time before turning my attention to Ryder. Ryder sneers and says "You're interrupting.. you always did have bad timing." I return the sneer and say "You've touched someone who belongs to me Ryder... I hope you know what that means.."
"She doesn't belong to you Rune..." Ryder says with a straight face. I wasn't about to argue with this lunatic. I frown and send out my power. It's thick and heavy with my anger and Ryder releases his. The plants and trees begin to sway as the wind around us picks up. I can feel my eyes darkening as the runes along my body begin to activate. They begin shifting and moving as my power grows.
Ryder grits his teeth as he feels the pressure coming from Rune... when had he become so powerful? Ryder starts to make an escape plan knowing that he no longer stands a chance against Rune but when Rune sees it he sneers.. no way was he allowing the bastard to get away.
He quickly shifts to Ryder bringing his fist down filled with power. Ryder blocks the blow but barely as he slides backwards tearing up the gound in the process. Dirt and grass blow up and around the two as the trees violently sway. Ryder pants and quickly glances at the witch who's finally done healing. Rune attacks again without mercy hitting Ryder while he was distracted.
Ryder flies back hitting the ground hard but twists around at the last moment blocking the rest from hitting him. Ryder slowly stands holding his chest with a grim look. "It looks like I need to become stronger..." Ryder says before shifting to the witch. Both disappear leaving Rune right behind them cursing. Syn was severely injuried and needed help... he will finish this once he knows she's safe and next time.. he won't let him run away.
