Chapter 2: Did He See Me?

"Huh, that's a bit of a waste."

The stall owner flipped over the card and read it.

"Hmm, Liu Yang? From the Golden Treasure Group... That's not too far from the night market. I should have introduced myself, would that have been the polite thing to do?"

He wasn't exactly sure what had just happened but he accepted it nonetheless.

"Ah shoot, I should finish quick, it's almost time to prep for the stall."

Glancing at the clock, he had about an hour or so before grabbing supplies and whatnot for his cart.

"Still, Liu Yang, huh, I knew she seemed familiar but I didn't think she'd still be in this city. Then again, I don't think she even remembers me."

He chuckled, remembering a few things before scarfing down both plates of food, readying himself for the day.

As for Liu Yang, she was in the nearest train station, still feeling embarrassed and ashamed.

"Ah damn it, can I even show my face again in front of that stall? His food was really good though... Ugh, stupid, why'd you have to get so drunk?!'

The trip home wasn't very long but she stood outside the doors for the longest time. Not knowing what awaited her, she took a deep breath and opened the doors, entering quietly.

"Oh, Liu Yang, you're finally back! I was wondering where you went."

A caring voice echoed as her mother came out from one of the rooms carrying a bucket of laundry.

"Yes, mom, I'm back."

She took of her shoes and walked in, plopping her bag down.

"You were out all night. Was it because of work? Or do you have a secret boyfriend we don't know about?"

From the living room was the voice of her father, a somewhat playful and teasing tone. He laughed out loud, looking up from his phone as he watched his daughter's face go red.

"Ahh? Ahhh? Did I hit the mark?" he said,

Liu Yang shook her head, taking off her jacket as she plopped down beside him.

"No, no. I... I got too drunk last night and fell asleep while eating at the night market."

Remembering what the stall owner had told her, she covered her face with her hands, feeling embarrassed again.

"Pft, and what happened next?"

Her father put his phone away and gently leaned in, curious as to what this story entailed.

"The stall owner tried to wake me up and take me to the police but I kept clinging on to him. And then, he just took me to his home before I could vomit and make a mess of myself."

He then looked at her, sharpening his eyes.

"But your clothes... they're clean."

She uncovered her face and looked at him with a rather scared look, afraid of how he would react.

"He helped me take my clothes and washed it up for me..." she spoke quietly, almsost a whisper even.

But her father, he had a look of surprise before turning into rage.

"What?!"

He yelled out, loud enough for her mother to stop what she was doing.

"Did he do anything to you?"

"No, no, he didn't."

"But he saw you naked! Is that not assault?! Where is this owner?!"

"No, stop, what? He took my clothes, he didn't undress me! My clothes were a mess. I was a mess. I'm lucky he didn't just throw me out. Calm down, dad."

"But, this is an outrage! He should be in jail! He saw your body, did he not?!"

In his fit of rage, Liu Yang's mother came in with a confused look on her face.

"Did something happen, dear?" she asked her husband.

He pointed at Liu Yang, sputtering out a mess of words.

"She was seen! Undressed! That damned bastard saw her body!"

"What? who?"

"The stall owner! She got drunk at his stall and he took her back home, cleaned her up, and saw her naked body! That scoundrel, I'll kill him!"

"Oh shut it, will you!"

She walked up to him and smacked him on the head before sitting by her dear daughter.

"You know, Liu Yang is an adult, right? If she wanted to go to the police, she would've done so already. She doesn't need you to get all riled up!"

"But, dear!"

Getting scolded by his wife, Liu Yang's father kept his anger in check but he was still seething with it. You could almost see steam come out of his ears.

Turning to Liu Yang, her mother's expression was soft and filled with concern.

"And you, my dear daughter, why didn't you go to the police?"

"No, he didn't undress me! I undressed and slept in his bed. He took the clothes afterward, cleaned them, and folded them. He didn't see me naked!"

Liu Yang quickly spoke, exasperated over her father's outburst. But it seemed that those words weren't enough for him.

"Are you sure? You're not just lying, are you? Did he blackmail you? What did he do?!" he said.

"Calm down, you need to stop watching those conspiracy videos! Half of it is fake anyways, you think she is a part of that?"

Her mother scolded him once more before looking back at Liu Yang with a doubtful look.

"Wha- I'm not! It's fine! Everything is fine! I just got too drunk and wild. That's it, nothing else happened. I'm going to my room."

She stood up and left them, returning her little room.

As for her mother and father, they watched her go before looking at each other, not knowing how to react.

Tossing her stuff onto her bed, Liu Yang dropped onto it as well, feeling exhausted.

"God those two... Ugh."

She grabbed out, taking hold of one of her plush toys, a small Shiba Inu plush that she wrapped her arms around.

"I don't think he saw me naked... right? I hope not. Ah damn it, I don't want to think about that anymore. I'm just going to hang out with the girls."

Instead, she took her phone out of her bag and went to message a few people.

"Mmm, this place looked cute and they have so many cakes!"

Setting the place and time, she went to take a shower before changing into more casual clothes, high- waisted jeans and a gray short- sleeved turtle neck.

"Gray socks or white... What do I want to wear with these shoes?"

She asked herself, looking at the two pairs and glancing at the white sneakers.

"White it is!"

Grabbing a small purse, she left her room feeling refreshed and energized, readying herself to leave the door.

"Where are you going? It better not be back to that stall owner!" her father yelled out.

"Of course not! I'm hanging out with Ruo Ming and Hua Lee! I'll be back before dinner, okay?" she rebuffed.

"Hmph, stay safe out there! And don't drink so much!"

"Be safe, Liu Yang!"

Her mother chimed in just as she opened the door to leave.

"I love you two!" she answered back.

Leaving the house, this young woman was greeted by the welcome sunlight.

"I should be there by three", she thought, "God, I have to tell them what happened. I wonder how those two will react."
