Chapter 4: Chapter 4 The Jack in the box
It had been a week since that incident, fortunately, Jack was still alive however he was in hiding. Theo had a whole ton of guilt on his conscious as he went to comfort Jack every day since the incident though Jack had forgiven him (since he would've done the same) Theo could not help but feel like he was completely in the wrong. They had both been on the run since Jack was freed but Selina wasn't going to stop all she did was count 10 this merely meant run. Fortunately for the both of them, the mansion was huge enough to keep them hidden for decades. It was about time for them to head off it was only a matter of time before the current location would be compromised, Jack said "We've been walking for days, in fact, I've never seen this part of the mansion do you know where we are? Can we get back?", Theo replied to jack with " fear not master Jack we are in the underground levels of the mansion I remember the whole mansion off the top of my head so directions are of no bother to us". "Thank God I have you Theo if not I would already be a dead man," replied Jack.
Both of them continued forward they were entering parts of the mansion that had not been entered for years. Looking ahead Theo stated "I wonder why your ancestors had built such a big mansion your family must have been much more in the past than it was", "It probably was but now it's not much." Replied Jack in a depressive tone. "Have you ever heard the tale of your ancestor Jack Stellar the first, legend has it that he was murdered by a Shinigami and his head was severed and placed in a toy box and that toy box lies within this mansion to this very day." Theo said quickly as he tried to change to Jack's mood." I'm betting my money that's just a wives" tale Jack said jokingly. The two of them wandered further inwards in fact the pair had entered an area which hadn't been modernized and was completely dark. Both of them started slowing down, why they did they could never figure out but it was as if something was following them. Feeling a presence behind them the boys were inclined to watch their backs making sure every movement was monitored. Suddenly both of them came to a halt.
"We know your there whoever you are just come out now" Theo said in a cowardly voice as grasped onto Jack's arm only to find Jack shivering with fear. Suddenly a box fell from above and inside it was whatever was following them. Jack stepped forward, he put his hand out grabbing onto the box and then he lifted it up....."Meow!!!" yelled a cat as it pounced from the box, "Holy mother of God, that thing gave me a heart attack!" Theo yelled after he tried grabbing his breath from the panic attack he almost had. "Well we best keep moving forward" replied Jack as he was trying to get over from the shock of the cat. Suddenly then at that moment from beyond time and space came a flying Ava shouting "Jack there you are!!!". Just then she jumped onto Jack trying to hug but then it happened the moment that would change their lives forever. They fell through floor.
"AAAAAHHHHH!!!" Yelled both Ava and Jack fearing for their lives as they fell through the floor the distance feeling infinite for both of them. The fall stopped both of them got up Ava suddenly hugged Jack and cried out in a teary voice "Sorry Jack I was just trying to find I... I... I just wanted to apologize for helping that witch of a sister". "Don't worry about that what matters now is that both of us get out of here alive, Theo can you hear me and if so where the hell are we right now and yes we're alright" said Jack as he got up panting from the fall. "Thank heavens young master Jack and young madam Ava, now I know I said that I know every part of this mansion but from what I can see you have stumbled into one of the secret passages. For now, all I can tell you is that when your family had first built this house they had inserted secret passages of which the location is only known to the ones who had built it, I know no more than this for now I'm going to get sir Jonathan to help get you out of there" hastily replied Theo as he ran off to get Jonathan.
"Well looks like we're stuck here for a while might as well do some exploring in these 'secret passages' whilst were here" said Jack as he tried to change the atmosphere to that of a more positive one. However, he suddenly turned to Ava and witnessed her crying he suddenly went to her and asked "Ava are you all right you're not injured from the fall are you. She momentarily grabbed onto Jack and started crying even more. She suddenly said "Jack I'm sorry for all of this if I didn't go do that thing to you this wouldn't have happened and we wouldn't be stuck like this", "Look what's done is done, and to be completely honest I was mainly in the wrong it just Selina took it too far anyways for now let's focus on getting out of here" replied Jack as he tried to console her in his arms. "Okay you're right I'm just getting a bit emotional, well there is only one direction so I guess we should start walking" said Ava as she wiped the tears off her face and adopted a more positive tone. "That's the spirit" said Jack as he started chuckling.
Both of them started to set off however as they got further they realized that there was no light up ahead fortunately they both had their phones on them and turned on flashlights. As they started continuing up ahead Ava clung onto Jack fearing what they could find down here. Suddenly the light shone on a metallic object they went further to investigate as they got closer they saw it as scythe with a blade so bright it rivaled the sun its handle robust and made of an unnamable material, it was colored in black, white and red. Both of them took a step back but then Ava stepped on something, they turned around saw it then looked at each other but then Jack remembered Theo's words from earlier. Right there and then the on its own the handle started to turn. Jack grabbed Ava and started to run, however as they began to run ahead the noise from the box began to echo through the passage and as they went forward they had encountered a dead end. They turned but only to see box before their eyes.
The box opened. Suddenly popped out something both of them unable to see but what they heard next was life changing. "Here's Jacky!!!"
