'What did I just step into?'
Will shivered as his face went pale, he was concerned that he wouldn't be able to get back out, or he would get killed by whatever this just was.
He stared at the water flowing through the ravine as he decided to just walk along and see where he ends up.
The ravine only goes two ways right?
Will started his walk as he had random paranoid thoughts, he is easy pickings in this world.
Any small noise would startle him.
It's not that he is a coward or anything, it's just that when you are potentially one of the weakest life forms in the world you are in, wouldn't the slightest noise scare you?
A random life form could just jump out and take your life instantly!
No matter how courageous he was in his original world, in this world he needs the power to back up his courage.
He currently has no power to speak of, excluding his ability and the system.
Will walked through the crystal water flowing through the ravine as he went deep in thought, not forgetting to keep his guard up.
As he walked through the water he would see the occasional sparkle of light from the bottom of the water.
Stopping, he remembered the novels he read in his previous world, 'Could this be the legendary fortuitous encounter!?'
With growing excitement Will made sure his potion ingredients wouldn't get ruined as he started to dig into the bottom of the water.
Splashing around in the clouding water, Will finally grasped an object, feeling its smooth surface he pulled it out of the water.
After exiting the water, a silvery white glow radiated from the object he was holding, looking closely he realized it was a stone.
-Mana stone has been detected
The system went off at this very moment he noticed what he was holding, surprised, Will had a thought flit through his mind.
"Mana stone? What is it?"
-It is the stone practitioners in this world use to increase power, searching the network, the mana stone is also used as a currency in this world by practitioners.
'Using the Heavenly net to get data on this world? Isn't this too OP?'
With glittering eyes Will looked at the stone in his hand as he tried to feel the mana inside it.
-Host cannot use the energy of this world, the mana stone can be used to make potions though, taking energy from the mana stone will reduce the amount of mental energy consumed when you concentrate energy from the surroundings, because the mana stone is already concentrated energy.
The system splashed cold water onto Will's head as it brought up the thing that Will forgot long ago.
Disappointed, he quickly focused on the fact he can still use it to reduce the strain of making potions.
"It looks like I really do have to rely on my ability and the system, not like it's necessarily a bad thing."
Walking out of the water, Will looked as the stone in his hand as he put it in his bundle of scales.
Looking at the other sparkles in the water, he sighed as he realized he can't carry anymore because he has no more space.
Shaking his head, he continued trudging forward to see where he would end up as the splashing of the water echoed in the surroundings.
After some time when he decided to take a break, the long missed sounds of birds chirping started to appear in his surroundings.
Panting for breath he looked up as his eyes widened.
In front of him was a towering mountain piercing through the clouds, emanating an oppressive aura, with towering trees surrounding its base.
Birds fluttered from tree branch to tree branch as the singing of the birds could be heard throughout the surroundings.
A gust of extremely energizing wind blew against Will's body as he felt his mind grow increasingly clear.
A light fog drifted lazily above the ground, as vibrant green plants could be seen peeking out from the fog.
Near the base of the mountain several trees were shattered beyond recognition as massive prints could be seen on the ground.
It was the site of a terrifying battle.
Absorbing the sight of what was in front of him, Will's mind started buzzing as he felt the urge to pick several plants in the surroundings.
Stepping forward, Will's body shook with excitement as he started thinking about the potions he wants to make in the future.
Lost in his daydream, he failed to realize that there was a very sharp rock where his foot was about to land.
With a scream of bloody murder, startling the wildlife in the surroundings, Will hopped on one leg while holding his other foot as he tripped on a tree branch, smacking his forehead onto a rock, falling unconscious.
The material on his feet is very, well, not meant to step on something sharp.
Will slept for a few hours after this.
Back in the depths of the forest the old couple was returning to where they left Will.
"When we get there, we need to completely introduce ourselves"
Said Elizabeth as she looked at her husband, "How should we go about explaining that we are, or at least were the strongest if not two of the strongest people?"
Shrugging his shoulders her husband sighed as he skipped over a sharp protruding root, "The kid still hasn't adjusted to this world, he also hasn't found out the situation he is in yet, I am pretty sure he wouldn't believe us"
Smiling at Elizabeth he shook his head, "He is most likely too busy trying to understand his situation, telling him would be too much, but we have to at least tell him so he will take whatever knowledge we give him seriously, we need to make him understand his situation"
Looking at each other they smiled as they thought about the fact that this might be the last good deed they can do in their lives.
They have already accepted their incoming deaths.
Coming to a small clearing they passed the note they left Will as they walked over to where he was sleeping.
Looking at the spot where Will slept, they both revealed panicked expressions as they dashed into the woods following his footsteps.
….
Inside a cave halfway up the heaven piercing mountain, Will woke up with a groan from the feeling of a breeze ruffling his hair.
Holding his head he couldn't help but curse his sh*tty luck since he came to this world. Looking around he was shocked and a little frightened at the fact that he was suddenly in a cave.
Standing up, he winced as his foot throbbed with pain from stepping on that sharp rock.
Walking to the mouth of the cave with slight limp, he took in a breath of cold air as he looked downwards.
He felt a little sick!
Not only was he halfway up the mountain, the cave was above a straight drop down!
It was at least a seven kilometer fall!
This was only approximately halfway up the mountain!
(AN: This is also the smallest mountain in this world… Not a spoiler, just a hint at the size of this world, the numbers will be so massive that I won't bother typing the distances down most of the time, I hope you understand)
Backing up, Will went back into the cave. Sitting down, he thought for a bit before he decided to work on his potion.
Grabbing his waist where he tied the ingredients, his face went pale as he realized that they were gone.
Will stared blankly at the depths of the cave as he lamented the loss of his ingredients, with them it is easier to make a potion and he will be less likely to pass out.
Sighing, he stood up as he started to walk into the depths of the cave.
'I might as well see where this goes'
He decided to just walk further in.
he can't leave anyways can he?
As he walked deeper into the cave, he failed to realize that there was no wind whistling in the entrance to the cave the whole time.
There was definitely something preventing the wind from blowing into the cave.
….
In the depths of the cave there was not even the slightest speck of light in the darkness. Stretching his hands out in front of him, Will slowly walked deeper into the cave.
Grasping into the darkness, Will kept panicking at the slightest sound as he kept making sure he wouldn't walk into something.
If only he didn't have to worry about a rat killing and dragging him away, he would be able to stay calm.
If a snake could get to the point it started to evolve into a dragon, then a rat can reach great levels of power too.
If he can't beat a child, how can he stay calm!?
