Chapter 113: Complaint

"Father! Is it true that they are moving towards us now?" Edgar asked his father with worry in his eyes. He was not sure how his father would react, he could notice the red in the eyes of his father as he was reading the letter that he received from his guards.

The anger on the eyes of Jake could be seen from miles. With a roar he spoke up in anger, "How is this possible? How can they increase their power to over 400 men in just a few days?" His first pounded on the table as he could not control his anger anymore, "I should had killed him when I still had the chance. This is ridiculous!" Jake stood up with anger and walked towards the door.

"Father, where are you going? What are we supposed to do now?" Edgar said while trying to hold back. He knew that the anger of his father was immense now. He was only scared that this anger would be redirected at him.

"To the stupid king of course! How can he allow something stupid like this to happen!" with that Jake stormed out of the room and made his way down the hallway.

"Wait for me! Father!" Edgar rushed behind him.

As they arrived at the palace, Jake notified that he had to urgently talk with the King. Being a high noble, the guards were not reluctant at all when he approached. After a moment passed the guards opened the door and Jake made his way towards the king.

The path that led to the throne room was filled with guards. The design of the castle had a overwhelming to it. Arriving at the door of the throne room, Jake was about to storm in towards the throne room. He was barely controlling his anger.

"Lord Herewealth as arrived to seek audience with the highness." A guard announced as the door started to open up. Looking inside, Jake noticed that the king was sitting on his throne high up. He was a bit younger compared to him. His bear that was whiting showed his age clearly. However as there was a difference in their social status, Jake knew that he had no chance against him.

Not forgetting his courtesies, Jake hurriedly bowed as he made his way towards the throne. The road was filled with a long red carpet.

The king was taken aback by the sloppy courtesies that his vassal showed him. His brows were up in surprise because of this. Yet, trying to not focus on this, he asked with a calm yet demeaning voice, "Why are you here Sir Herewealth?"

"Your highness. Something outrageous has happened. A knight from the Witterton family dares to march his troops to this humble and loyal servant of yours. This cannot be accepted." The voice of Jake was almost take by his rage, which showed through his eyes.

Hearing this story, the king did not react out of place. Instead he kept quiet for a moment. "I see. If that is the case, I will sent a messenger to this knight and invite him to explain his reasoning."

Hearing this, Jakes was not satisfied, "What? What do you mean? You will allow something like this to happen? That a knight from the lower nobles dares to raise up an army and march on a higher noble? And his is also marching these troops towards the King's City?" The rage was building up in Jake as he could not control himself anymore.

Even the guards started to make a move towards Jake as he started to get out of control.

Noticing this, Jake instantly took a step back and bowed again.

Even the king was not happy with the manner in which Jake acted. He held his hand, signaling his guards to stand down. However his voice, which was calm before was not filled with anger as he spoke up in a load voice, "Who is the king? You or me? This is the last time that I allow something like this to happen. The next time, I will not stop my guards!"

Noticing that the situation was getting worse, Jake bowed again and replied in a soft, yet angry voice, "Sorry my liege. I was in the wrong. I can never compete with the wisdom of your highness." It was clear that Jake was trying to redeem his prior actions.

The king signaled for a guard and spoke up, "Sent a message to this knight of the Witterton family, which is marching towards the King's City, that I want to meet him. I want to hear his reason for doing such a thing." With that, the guard bowed and left the throne room in a hurry.

The king looked back at Jake and spoke up with an annoyed voice, "If that is all, you are excused to leave. And do not come back before I call you!"

Biting his lip, Jake bowed again, before making his way out of the throne room. He could now wait for the king to summon him again. Until then he had to increase his own power to the possible upcoming fight.
