As the sun had set, the field of vision decreased. Not being able to see a lot, most soldiers had a torch lit in order to see. This made the top of the wall look like a sea of flickering flames. It does not matter how beautiful it all looked, there was still the fact that these soldiers had to face the demonic beasts.
The darkness made it more difficult to fight them. This was both because the soldiers had a limited view. Moreover the soldiers had to have the burden of carrying a torch in one of their hands. This all hindered the combat ability of the soldiers.
Seeing all this, Sir Edward could only be grateful that one of the most difficult demonic hybrid got slain before the sun set. Carefully following the patterns of the flames, Sir Edward tried his best to command the formations. Yet only being able to follow the sea of flame made it all made it difficult to have an exact understanding of how the formation was moving. Yet despite all this, Sir Edward still was able to order the formations around.
The current problem that the soldiers currently had was the demonic hybrids. Three out of the five were already killed. This also included the new demonic hybrid. But the remaining two demonic hybrids looked like they had no difficulty fighting in the dark. It seemed as if their instincts took over as they were attacking the soldiers on the field. Clearly many soldiers were suffering from these attacks.
It was not only the demonic hybrids that benefitted from the darkness. The demonic beasts that were up in the sky also had free reign. As they could take cover in the darkness, the ranged units had difficulties aiming at them. Therefore many of the archers just blindly loosed their arrows into the darkness. As for them, because the soldiers had to light up and carry torches, they were easy targets for the demonic beasts. This was also noticeable by the attacking patterns of the demonic beasts, as they aimed primarily at the soldiers that were carrying torches.
One thing that Sir Edward noticed that the demonic beasts were sometimes reluctant to attack. It looked as if they were scared of the torches. This could actually be a benefit if they could monopolize on it. With that the demonic beasts would have difficulty.
There were many points for Sir Edward to focus at. As the field was rather wide, there were two different battle fields going on. Thinking about the current situation, Sir Edward remembered something. In the previous engagement, the demonic beasts retreated after the demonic hybrids were killed. This meant that if they would focus on killing the demonic hybrids, the demonic beast would most likely start to retreat. Even though they still had a certain advantage against the soldiers. At least this is the hope that Sir Edward has.
With that Sir Edward made his decision. "We have to focus our power to finish off the demonic hybrids first! Men, hurry up and kill it already!" Sir Edgar started to shout orders out. Trying to gasp the gaps in the formation, Sir Edgar continued to give orders,"Right flank, you guys are too far at the back! Get back to position!" Looking at the overall situation, Sir Edward was sure that this would be a difficult yet important task they had to pull off.
