Chapter 40: The New Opponent
Looking up Edgar shouted out, "There he goes again. The beast is falling! Lewis look out, it is aiming at you!" Looking back at the position Lewis was in, Edgar shouted out. Before Lewis could move, it was already too late. The demonic hybrids dropped on his position, before flying up again. There was no sign of Lewis anymore. It was already too late for him.
Seeing that one of his subordinates got smashed to death, Edgar felt anger in heart build up. First there were the flying beasts, then those lion hybrids, and now this beast! Edgar felt that his whole trip to this 'Holy' City was just one big mistake. If it was not for that scrub called James, he would have never came to this hellhole.
For some reason, Loraine fell in love with that piece of trash, that no body. While he was set aside. Edgar knew in his heart that he had to either beat James with achievements or make it so that James 'accidently' disappeared from the surface of this planet.
However, at the moment, he had no time to concentrate on James. He had to find a way to kill the new demonic beast. If he manages to do this, he will definitely gain a lot of achievements. So instead of focusing on James, it is better for Edgar to focus on the demonic hybrid which was killing of his subordinates.
Thinking about how he could beat the demonic hybrid, Edgar started to focus his attention on the movements of the hybrid. Looking at the outside of the beast, it was clear that he had a hard shell covering it body. There was no clear weakness.
As the hybrid fell down again, a crater was created at the point where it landed. Again, several soldiers were squashed by the force of the impact. This was when Edgar noticed a possible weakness. The beast had difficulty in the initial few swings of its wings.
Because the surrounding soldiers got distracted by the impact, they were not focusing on the movement of the beast when it tried to fly back up. However, as Edgar was at the outer ring of the demonic hybrids attack range, he had a better view on the situation. Thus he could see and understand the movement of the hybrid.
"Attack it when directly after it lands" Edgar shouted out. "That beast had difficulties getting back in the sky! That is the opportune moment to attack it!" With that, he was able to share his discoveries with the rest. Yet, either because the soldiers did not believe him, or they were busy with trying to survive, no one reacted to what he said.
Getting frustrated by the fact that he was ignored, it was up to Edgar to take matters in his own hand. He had to be the one getting close to that hybrid and attack him when he tried to fly back up. But not the problem was where he should attack.
Looking for a place to attack, Edgar noticed ones again that the whole body was covered with a hard shell. It could survive an impact that could create a crater, so a direct attack would not be as effective. Inspecting the body of the hybrid, Edgar noticed that the wings of the hybrid were rather fragile. With that, the target was decided. It would be the wings.
