Chapter 28: First Month Done
As James retreated to his room to prepare for a nights rest, he heard a knocking on his door. Not expecting any visitors, James was surprised about this. Wondering who it could be James opened up the door. To his surprise, it was Sir Edward who was standing in front of the door. Shocked by this Sir Edwards responded, "Sir, what brings you here?" Realizing that he left Sir Edward standing in the hall way James apologized, "Oh, pardon my manners. Please come in Sir!" With those words, James opened the door and pulled a chair for Sir Edward to sit on.
As Sir Edward entered into the room, he could not help himself from smiling as he sat down on the chair. Looking back at James, Sir Edward said, "It seems that there is clearly a great improvement in your situation, compared to last time I visited you. Back then you was sleeping in the rundown building, but this one is definitely a lot better."
The words that Sir Edward spoke, improved the mood. At those words, James also could not help himself from laughing a bit, "Yes indeed Sir. Thank to both you and the prince, I am now doing a lot better. Thank you ones again for that."
Looking at James, Sir Edward replied, "You don't have to tank me kid. You deserved it. From what I have heard, you even managed to slay a hybrid. These will all improve your prestige considerably." Giving a tab on the soldier of James, Sir Edward continued, "And I am the one that should actually thank you. You ignited the morale of the people today. Because of that they are willing to follow me now."
Shocked by this, James was speechless for a moment before he said, "Sir, I did not do anything. The people were already whispering their agreement. I just spoke it out loud and the rest followed. So I really did not do anything Sir."
Smiling at what he heard, Sir Edward said, "Still, you started it all, thus thank you for that. Well, I will excuse myself now. We have an early morning tomorrow." With those words, Sir Edward stood up and left the room. Happy with what he heard, James could have an easy night's sleep.

Several days passed by rather peacefully. The authority change had not a major effect on the soldiers. The majority of the day was filled with either training and or patrolling the walls. The training improved the combat abilities significantly of the soldiers. As for the patrol duties on top of the wall, besides some small skirmishes, there were no major activities going on.
A less eventful week passed by. With this, a month had passed by since James arrived at The Holy City of Hermes. It sure was a month filled with difficulties. However, James also gained a lot in the month that he was here. Because of the demonic beasts this reputation increased. He now even knows people that he could consider as friend. It was definitely a worthwhile endeavor coming here. His only regret currently is that he was so far away from Loraine. However, this whole trip was for the sake of finally being together with her. I n the end of it all, he would finally be together with her.
