Chapter 14: May Your Soul Rest In Torment [2]
Tied to a tree, Roland had no choice but to remain calm. For one, he had no idea what he'd done to be placed in such a situation. So, he, in his mind had done nothing wrong and was most likely being wronged.
He stared at the figure standing before him.
'Despite the situation I'm in, mine eyes have been blest. She's stunning and I can't deny that'.
"Stop staring" the woman raised her leg and struck his face.
"What the hell was that for?" Roland couldn't help but yell at her.
'Damn psycho'
"I am not obligated to explain my actions" she spoke with sass.
She spun on her heels, turning her back towards him.
'Everything's going according to plan. I finally have him tied up' she released a sigh and gave
Roland a look before she disappeared in the blink of an eye.
'I want to act surprised but I can't'.
After having his fair share of experiences within the past two days and, the scenario leading to him being tied to a tree, he felt as though what he'd seen so far was child's play.
'Wait a minute' he looked towards the space in which the woman disappeared, 'how am I supposed to get out of these wisps?'
Time passed and soon enough it was nearing nightfall.
'What the hell are these things made of?'
He began to cry, feeling distressed.
'Is this the end ?'
He watched as the sun made its way down and the moon rising.
"It's time" his head snapped around upon hearing the voice.
A metre away, bathing in the moonlight was the woman from before. She had her hood up but, Roland was able to make out her figure.
"I've wanted to do this for a while now. Now, luck seems to be on my side. I'm finally able to get rid of you".
'Get rid of me? What on Earth did I even do?'
Confusion was written all over his face.
The woman saw this and couldn't help but frown.
"Do you know why I've had you tied up?"
Roland shook his head, genuinely confused.
'It's just as they. He'll allow himself to be captured and toy with you to the end to get your guard down'.
"No need to act dumb 'Your highness'. I know what you are. You may have fooled others but you can't fool me".
'What I am?'
"It won't be long before those damned beasts to come out" She looked towards the sky.
"After today, I'll finally get rid of you once and for all. With you gone the threat to the witches will disappear and we'll finally be at ease from 'his' torments".
The leaves of the trees behind Roland rustled.
"It's time; time to take my leave. May your soul rest in torment" her tone was laced in venom.
With those final words she vanished.
Her final statement sent a chill down Roland's back.
'Is this actually happening? Am I about to be killed without knowing why?'
As his mind was in shambles, a non-human figure made its way from behind Roland.
