Chapter 17: Execution Of A King

In a dark cell in an undisclosed location, a man dressed in a long red captain's jacket and blue trousers was sat all alone cuffed to the floor.

The man looked up as he heard footsteps getting louder. As he saw who it was he smiled fiercely.

The man was 6" 5 and built like a tank. He was dressed in a black suit with a marine vice-admiral jacket hanging from his shoulders.

"Monkey D. Garp!"

"…"

"You'll never believe this, but I'm expecting to have a child!"

"Why are you telling me this Roger? I'm a marine! If the rest of the world government finds out about this you know what will happen! Both will be executed without a doubt!"

"That's why I'm telling you Garp! If the world was to find out about my child they'll be executed solely for being my child. But a new born child bears no sins!

You and I have come close to killing each other more times than I can count but I still trust you like I would my own flesh and blood!

Take care of him for me!"

...…

3 months later on a small island which would normally wouldn't be too packed, waves and waves of people were standing on the streets and even the roofs of various buildings.

There was nowhere which wasn't packed with people, except for a lone path leading from the docks to an execution platform.

On that path Roger was walking behind two marines carrying spears. Even though he was walking to his death, he still walked with his head held high and a smile on his face radiating the aura of a genuine king.

As they reached the execution platform one of the guards turned to Roger.

"Any last words."

Roger turned to the guard and as he did, the guard subconsciously took a step back out of fear.

"Can you take the cuffs off, they're uncomfortable."

"Impossible!"

"Ooh that's too bad."

Saying that he proceeded to sit down on top of the stand waiting for his death.

As he sat down on top of the stand overlooking the masses, everyone felt as if he was a king looking at his subjects from his throne.

Suddenly a nameless man from the crowd worked up the courage to shout.

"Hey, Pirate King… What did you do with your treasure? You have it don't you? The greatest treasure known to man…"

As he was about to continue the guard cut him off.

"Insolence… Shut your mouth!"

Despite the guards warning, the man carried on shouting.

"Where did you hide it? Where is One Piece?!"

Hearing his question Roger smiled.

"You want my treasure?! If you want it, go find it. I left everything I own at that place!"

Just as he got his words out, the guards spear pierced through his heart. That was the moment the world changed, the start of a new era!

The man who started the era had just been killed, but he died sitting with his back straight and a smile on his face.

The whole world was shivering, some in excitement and others in fear of what's to come.

Back on a small island on the red line, two families watched the whole proceedings but there wasn't one person with dry eyes.

A Caucasian woman with strawberry blonde hair dressed in a pale blue summer dress, watched the execution with a pale face and tears falling down her cheeks but despite that her eyes still seemed firm and unwavering.

[Roger, my husband I'll see you soon.]

The families spent the rest of the day in silence as they all let their minds wonder.
