Chapter 3: The Power of Knights

"Hey 'Status', what are the statuses for each level of knighthood", Victor questioned.

'Boop'

'Status shown' Pre-Knight:

Strength: 1.5

Agility: 1.5

Stamina: 1.5

'Status shown' Low-Knight:

Strength: 2

Agility: 2

Stamina: 2

'Boop' 'Not enough information for higher levels'

"Wow my own stats are similar to those of a Low-Knight", Victor presumed. "I suppose it can't show any level higher because I haven't seen any yet" Victor examined the room around him. The room looked like one from a Medieval castle in Europe. A red carpet with a cross design led from his bed to the door. There was an arched stony window revealing bright sunlight. Victor peeked out the window and was shocked at how many stories up he was.

"Wow, I guess this really is a new world huh?", Victor said as he looked out the window with a dazed look on his face. "Well I guess I better get back to reading the books Jessica brought". He picked up the first book, 'The History of the Embrien Empire' and began reading. He was astonished at how long the history was. The empire lasted for 3000 years. Back on Earth the longest empires ever only got to around 1000 years like the Roman's and Ottoman's. As he continued on he was even more amazed how the royal family he was part of reigned for the entire time. Victor was shocked.

"How could there have never been a civil war or mutiny ever during 3000 years" Victor mumbled with a puzzled look. He continued reading until he he saw the 'Great Rebellion'. "So there was a rebellion. I knew that the citizens couldn't always be satisfied" Victor mused. Then he saw a passage stating that when the rebels were about to succeed a mysterious force wiped them all out. Victor reread the passage several times to be sure he read it right.

Victor moved on and saw many different rebellions. Some were solved by the troops, but those that were unable to be solved by such means always ended with the rebels being wiped out miraculously. "There is no way that is a coincidence. I better ask father what this mysterious force is when I see him later", Victor decided. this mysterious force is probably unknown to the citizens or else they would never think to revolt in the first place.

"Well there's nothing I can do at the moment and I think I've gathered enough knowledge on the empire. It's time to read the one's on Knights", Victor concluded. Victor but the history book down and picked up a book called 'The Power of Knights'. "What an apt name considering that the Low-Knight is already as strong as 2 people", Victor mused. The book covered the stages of knights from Pre-Knight to High-Knight and how strong they generally were compared to each other.

"From what the book says the stats of Pre-Knight and Low-Knight more or less match up. However based on this information Mid-Knight has stats around 3 and High-Knight has stats around 4", Victor though aloud, "That means High-Knights are much stronger than the strongest weightlifter, much faster than the fastest sprinter and have the stamina, which I presume covers aspects like recovery and defense is equivalent to bears. That is monstrous".

Victor continued to read about the abilities, strengths, and very few weaknesses of knights. However, on the last page the topic suddenly changed. "What is this", Victor questioned as he read aloud, "There are legends of a higher level of knights. Ones that can slay High-Knights with ease and take on armies of hundreds or even a thousand. They are Grand Knights". Victor stared at the page for a while. "A Grand Knight, what kind of existence is that?" Victor though while daydreaming, "If I could become a Grand Knight, I would be the strongest person in the empire and hold as much authority as my father. Of course, while being king is interesting, I'll leave that to Kyle. I want to become a Grand Knight and tower over every other knight with my strength."

At this moment, Victor saw a path in front of him. The path of Knighthood: dangerous and risky, but richly rewarding.
