Ed smiled in a genuine way for the first time since the fights against Blood sect started. The reason? He recognized the black dragon for what it really was. All those years ago, when he first left the care of the kingdom, when he finished hunting the very last wyvern, the Space Wyvern, which gave him his most useful ability so far, Ed encountered the black dragon. It was the first he truly came to understand the dangers of the world, and the first time he appreciated true strength and beauty.
Raikou and Suika were both gazing at the black dragon as well. Unlike Ed, their ears were filled with sadness and worry. From the day they saw the dragon, they strove to reach its height of power. Yet, once they had reached it, it wasn't the same black dragon as before. It was enslaved. Its eyes lost their power, and its body didn't exude the same power they felt that time.
"WarGreymon! Don't kill it, just make sure it doesn't interrupt our fight," Ed said. He wasn't worried about failing the quest, as much as he was worried about losing the symbol of strength engraved in his mind. "You're both at the same power level, make sure you don't lose!"
WarGreymon looked back, the tuft of orange hair which emerged from under its Chrome Digizoid helmet air shook in the air. He looked at Ed and nodded and flew at his maximum speed. The black dragon glanced at its incoming enemy and roared. Its size was colossal compared to WarGreymon, but the amount of aura the two released was nearly equal. Due to the size difference, however, both held advantages and disadvantages.
The dragon's colossal size meant any of its attacks packed a serious punch, whereas WarGreymon had as big a target to hit as they come. Yet, before they could even clash, they decided on ranged attacks. WarGreymon quickly amassed enough atmosphere energy, mixed it with QI and Nen, and transformed it into a gigantic Terra Force. The black dragon opened its mouth wide and a crimson flame emerged. The two flame-based attacks collided, and the air started to burn. The amount of oxygen was reduced instantly, but none of it mattered, as most of those present could function with a minimal amount of air.
Ed sped up once more and started to attack No-bō. The latter didn't count on one of Ed's monsters being able to keep up with the black dragon and was thus caught off guard. His speed and power were reduced, and he hoped he would be able to hold on long enough until Ed's Ki was used up. And it wasn't long until it was about to happen.
Ed's Ki reserved were colossal, but they weren't infinite, and he knew it himself. The number of skills he was using burned through his Ki faster than ever. But, he wasn't about to give up anytime soon. His attacks lost their speed, and once No-bō noticed it, he switched on to the offensive. He withdrew a gigantic double-edged red sword and attacked Ed. The two crossed swords many times, each one coming on top of the other every other time.
Quickly, however, No-bō switched to defense again. His goal was to weaken Ed every time and finish him off with one big attack. Much like Ed's own strategy. Ed was still a step ahead of him. His eyes shone with red as he activated his Mangekyo Sharingan. No-bō looked wary, and his guard heightened up once he noticed Ed backing off; he thought a big attack was coming. Yet, as soon as he winked his eyes once, he noticed that he was floating high above a desert.
"What is going on…?" No-bō's train of thought was interrupted by an intense stream of pain that flowed throughout his whole body. His cells screamed in pain, but he didn't know what was wrong. Then, in front of him, he noticed a lightning bolt strike the desert, turning part of it into silica glass. All around him, lightning hit.
Just as he thought of flying away, another bolt struck him. More and more dropped on top of his head, and his steel defenses couldn't help him. After what seemed like an infinite amount of time, he finally escaped the desert. His skin was red, not from his defense, but from the high heat generated by being struck by lightning hundreds of times.
No-bō looked up, and there was Ed looking smug in front of him. Ed said, "How did it feel? Did you feel any pain like those who died in the capital?"
No-bō tried to speak, but he found himself in another dimension. This time, he was surrounded by lava from all directions, and on top of him, dozens of volcanoes erupted at the same time; they dropped lava all over him.
No-bō escaped once again, his body still painful, but only from the first injuries. Ed was standing in front of him; Ed's eyes were bloody. No-bō realized whatever happened to him was brought by the bloody red eyes gazing at him, so he decided to close his own. However, by doing so, he failed to notice the battlefield's changes. Even without Ed doing anything, he was still attacked. High above him, the black dragon released another one of its flame breaths. WarGreymon combined the two shells on his back into the Brave Shield, a shield with the Mark of Bravery on it.
The Mark of Bravery was a painting of three circles surrounded by small triangles. It was worn by the bravest and the strongest of the Digimon world.
The flames couldn't penetrate the Brave Shield, and thus were deflected elsewhere; they hit No-bō. He opened his eyes as he screamed in pain, and found himself in another dimension. This time, he was surrounded by Mythic rank weapons, and all of them pierced his flesh like butter.
No-bō was unable to tell if it was real or not.
Ed trapped him in a real dimension the first time. He was able to trap him only for one second of real time before the dimension broke down since Ed wasn't present, but since he created it with a 10:1 ratio, No-bō was stuck for ten seconds. The second time, he trapped him in a Genjutsu. He repeated it until No-bō wasn't able to tell if the damage was inside of his head or not.
"It looks like you've had enough," Ed said. Behind him stood a colossal figure, bigger than the black dragon, and as long as Mehen's full size. It was his unnamed Avatar, the Eastern Dragon. Ed didn't need to speak, as the dragon realized his master's enemy stood in front of him. He felt the hate Ed felt toward No-bō and hated him just as much. The Dragon opened his mouth, and the laser-like breath emerged at once. No-bō left side was torn off in a second, as his body couldn't withstand all the damage so far. He spat a mouthful of blood and collapsed backward.
Another breath came, and No-bō lost a leg. Then his right arm, then his remaining leg. Sarin looked horrified ass he noticed the powerful Avatar Ed had invoked. He thought about escaping, but was quickly able to notice how Ed's friends had surrounded them all; his companions had all died.
"Let this be your ticket to hell," said Ed, "You should have never worked with Blood sect, but your biggest sin was killing the innocent. Worry not, however, I'll send you some friends to play with. One of them is already waiting for you, hahaha!"
No-bō looked helplessly at Ed as his sword came down on him. He realized that Ed's friends must have killed another leader of Blood sect, and smiled. He wasn't the first to lose.
Ed quickly split him in half, but No-bō was still alive. Then, he split him into four, then into eight. Ed's hands had never moved as quickly as he kept hacking and slashing until No-bō was no more than meat cubes hanging in the air. Ed's eyes burst with power as he incinerated No-bō's remains with Amaterasu.
"Eri, it's finally done," he said, "I've finally avenged you."

Ed felt rejuvenated, as he ranked up once more. He was now Immortal Establishment level 4, and with his Berserk power-up, level 8. His worn out body felt slightly better, as his muscles healed themselves, and his bones became sturdier than ever. The battleground all over him exploded by the power-ups of his comrades. Emilia and the others each ranked up once.
Gobuta, who had the upper hand against the Kraken, started to overwhelm it completely. Out of the twelve limbs that the Kraken enjoyed using, only four remained. Even though it was a specialist at healing and regeneration, Gobuta's darkness made it so that its Qi couldn't do much against it. Dark flames spread all over the Kraken's body, and it looked in pain. Its eyes and eyebrows furrowed deeply, as it released a roar from its circle mouth. Hundreds of teeth, and dozens of sets. It lunged forwards; it tried to eat Gobuta.
However, far from getting away, Gobuta smiled and lowered his weapon. He stretched his free arm as if welcoming the Kraken's desperate attack. The figure of Gobuta disappeared instantly, and the Kraken didn't even bother to chew. It knew that its teeth weren't capable of penetrating the thick skin of the Ogre, so it left that job to its stomach acids, one of its trump cards.
The Kraken looked smug, as Gobuta was now buried under liters of corrosive liquids. It turned around to look at its master, who was overwhelming the silver-haired girl that stood in his way. Then, it looked all around the battlefield, waiting for the Ogre's friends to come and attack it in order to save him. But, everyone seemed to be chilling and watching the battle of WarGreymon and the Calamity Black Dragon.
It decided that this was the best time to act, and it approached its master. It slithered on the ground, as it couldn't move normally thanks to its missing limbs. One step, two steps…five steps in and the Kraken stopped.
Pain. Pain? The Kraken looked worried. It knew that it was nothing more than an imprint of a soul, as it had lost its body long ago. It knew that it was turned into an Avatar and that it served the Poison sect's master. It knew that it lost all feelings. Yet, earlier it felt fear. And now, it was feeling pain. Sharp burning pain like a thousand burning swords piercing its stomach.
Why? How could it be? The Ogre which should be dead rampaged inside of its stomach. It roared as it realized its impending doom, and it felt more fear than the first time it died. When Avatars were destroyed, they regenerated afterward after feeding on their master's QI. Yet, the Kraken felt like such was not the case for it. What would happen when a soul is completely destroyed? It was about to find out.
Gobuta, inside of the Kraken's stomach, released all of his QI. His Enhancer's Nen spiked to its maximum mixed together with the aura he was releasing. The tattoos that filled his body shone with dark purple light and released black smoke all around it. The black smoke fused with the QI and the Nen and exploded outwards. The Purple flames instantly vaporized the stomach acids that would have otherwise harmed Gobuta. The initial explosion carried the flames farther, and the further it went, the stronger it became.
The inner walls of meat protecting the Kraken were nothing more than candy for the flames; they burned and melted like marshmallows. The Kraken kept howling in pain, and Sarin shuddered. He had never heard it release such a sound. Not even when he had hunted it all those years ago.
The Kraken's howl stopped midday; its vocal cords and lungs had turned into mush. It bloated up and exploded into nothingness. Bits and pieces of its meat splattered all over the battlefield, dying everything in crimson.
Goburou licked around his lips, as its blood had hit him, and smiled. Garu, on the other hand, was not pleased as his silvery white fur had turned into a disgusting color.
Raikou escaped into the shadows just in time in order to dodge the incoming blood, while Sieg's always existing barrier protected him from such a thing. Suika, however, didn't care, as she herself corroded whatever fell into her body. The Sword sect members didn't know whether to be angry or surprised and decided it would be better to choose the latter. They turned back to watch the battle between the dragon, and the warrior with dragon slaying weapons.
Unbeknownst to them, as they were invested in the battle, the bits and pieces of meat started to disappear. Gobuta destroyed the soul imprint of the Kraken with his flames, and thus it couldn't leave anything behind. Sarin looked shocked as he realized the Kraken would never return to his side. His eyes furrowed and his calm face contorted madly. His aura exploded and Emilia closed her eyes instinctively.
Before she could open them, Sarin appeared in front of her, ready to strike, when Ed interrupted him.
"How dare you do that to my beloved Kraken!" he shouted as his face turned red from fury. "I'll make sure none of you leave this place alive!"
Ed wanted to retort, but he couldn't muster any words. Sarin didn't turn red from anger, but it was something else. His whole body turned into a gooey substance, and drops of it fell to the floor, instantly melting it. The melted ground released red fumes, which Ed realized was poisonous.
Sarin lunged forward, ready to strike Ed with his poisonous body, however, Ed chose to retreat rather than fight him head-on in such a state. He held Emilia's arm and teleported away.
"You've done enough today," said Ed as he looked at Emilia. "You can take a rest with the others."
Ed flew down and faced Sarin. He withdrew a knife from his inventory and thrust it toward Sarin using Telekinesis. The Knife cut through the air, and once it was ready to do the same to Sarin, it started to melt. The black metal disappeared as it made contact with the poison man. Only red fumes remained.
'That was almost a Legendary grade knife…' Ed frowned as he thought.
"No more games little boy!"
Sarin spewed red flame-like poison from his mouth, and Ed countered by using Fire magic. The endless stream of both attacks collided and exploded. The whole battlefield was surrounded by a thick blanket of red.
