Chapter 235: Edward Avalon The Sword Sect Master

Ed, Alexander's son and daughter, the twins. All of them stopped and looked at Merry with eyes that almost popped out of their socket.

'Come to think of it, I never taught her how to break such news to others…Again, it's my fault…' Ed thought to himself as he hung his head down in shame.

"What do you mean…? Am I going to lose my mother, just as I lost my father?" Helena's hand started to shake as they approached her face to cover it. She fought hard against the tears, yet she couldn't stop them. Alexander's son, still confused, stood there dumbfounded. An angel in front of him announced that his mother would never wake up. He couldn't make or the tails of the situation.

"Merry, why will she never wake up?" Ed decided to ask Merry about the reason for her words, in order to assess the situation.

"You see, I looked through her mind. It's not that she can't wake up, but more like she doesn't want to wake up. The loss of her husband and the fear of losing her son caused her to willingly enter a coma. Unless she comes to terms with what happened, she will never wake up."

Merry's explanation caused some hope to spark in the hearts of Helena and her brother. It was then that Helena noticed her weakened brother standing in front of her, causing her tears to spill out again.

"You big dummy…"

"Sorry for worrying you. Sir Edward, I hope that you can help out mother." Helena's brother walked a few steps away from Ed, limping on one of his legs, and bowed towards him. His request was not simple, yet he asked so sincerely that no one could have denied it.

"I was planning to do that. By the way, I didn't manage to catch your name."

"Asem, son of Alexander," Asem stated, seemingly proud of his name and origin.

"I see. Then, I need both of you and Helena to stand by Merry," Ed stated as he walked next to Merry as well. "Merry, can you transmit the thoughts of the two of them? I'm certain that is she knows her children are safe, she might get better."

"Hmm, I've never tried something like that before, but I guess it's doable!" Merry fluttered her wings, causing two feathers to emerge out of them. The feathers were controlled by her Nen, and they flew over to the foreheads of Helena and Asem.

"I'd like you to be quiet since I need to concentrate," Merry said as she put one finger on the forehead of the sleeping mother.

Ed activated his Gyo, and he could see two threads of light carrying the thoughts of Helena and Asem. Merry seemed to be successful in transmitting these thoughts, as everyone could notice the face that was like a statue, move a little.

"It's not enough. She needs closure; these two are not enough…" Merry states as she looked towards Ed, telling him with her eyes that he needed to step in.

"I see…Then connect me to everyone here."

"Everyone? You sure? You really sure?" Merry made sure to ask Ed twice

"Yes, I'm sure."

"Well, here goes nothing." Merry made three more feathers emerge, as they connected with the foreheads of Ed and the twins.

Ed started to think about his fight with Alexander. As the most enjoyable fight of his life, he could remember the scenes vividly. From his skirmish with Alexander before taking care of the other three commanders, to the short-lived finale. The two men standing in front of each other as they delivered their strongest attacks caused the hearts of those that saw it to beat hard.

The respect the two of them shared and the face of Alexander that his family never got to see. At that moment, Helena and Asem felt jealousy towards Ed. Finally, Alexander's last request caused them all to tear up. The sleeping mother's eyes had tears spilling out as well, as she slowly opened them.

"What's going on?"

"They say Master Alexander returned, he didn't die!"

"That's not it, you idiot, there's a new sect master. Apparently, he's still a kid."

"Whatever, we were asked to come, so we're here. The black wolf from earlier scared me to death. He suddenly appeared in front of me and asked me not to go outside."

"Yeah, he appeared in front of me as well. Apparently, some more members of Poison sect appeared again."

The citizens of the city started to murmur as they gathered in front of the sect. There, the largest plaza that could hold the 4000 or so villagers existed. They were packed there, waiting for the show to start.

Then, as if answering their expectations, the eight Elders that met Ed started to descend one by one. Then, two more figures flew down from the sky as well. It was Asem and his mother, Barsine. All ten of them stood on top of a platform made out of wood. It was sloppy, but the presence of the ten of them overshadowed it completely.

"It's Lady Barsine!"

"Master Asem is healed as well!"

"They look so thin…so weak…"

The citizens had mixed emotions. Some were happy to see the family of Alexander, but others teared up after seeing in that weak state. Another figure appeared abruptly in front of the ten that were already there. It was Ed, but since only a few noticed him walking with the guard earlier that day, they didn't react.

Ed withdrew the sect master's insignia, which everyone recognized. They turned around looking at each other while muttering. Ed manipulated the insignia with his Telekinesis and hanged it in the air for everyone to see.

"My name is Edward Avalon," Ed's voice spread all over the plaza, not missing any ear. "I'm the new sect master…" he confirmed the doubts of some of the citizens while enlightening others. "You've suffered, both because of me, and because of my absence…" Ed's words were not understood by everyone, but those that understood it frowned as they glared at him.

"However, from now on, no one will dare to mess with our glorious sect. the group of babbling buffoons that barged in this morning are no more. Anyone else that dares to say something else about our sect will suffer from the same fate. I'm the master of the sect now, and I can promise you that you will know no similar heartache that you suffered from this past couple of months. But first, we need to do something about your weakened bodies."

Ed pointed his hands a couple of times and made people look in those directions. His companions arrived from the distance, bringing with them the prey they had hunted.

Chapter 236: Trust

"Asem. We need cooks. A lot of them," Ed said as the citizens in front of him looked confused. They didn't know if the monsters coming were attacking them, or if they were hallucinating flying monsters. Some pinched themselves, while others enjoyed the view as if they wanted to keep dreaming.

Ed's companions had their own spatial rings. They could have entered the city with no one knowing anything about them, but Ed made sure they did so in a grandiose way. The city was dying, not only physically, but also mentally. Ed wanted for them to feel the joy of being alive again, and what better way to do so, then to fill their stomachs. Same as in the Bloody war, Ed adopted the method of food in order to reward people for their loyalty and their perseverance.

"You can't possibly be trying to feed the citizens all at once. Even if we have cooks, we don't have the equipment needed…" Helena intervened from behind. She didn't think Ed would try to do something so reckless. Even fighting 4000 people seemed easier, to her, compared to feeding them.

"You don't need to worry too much; I did say I will take care of the sect. And by cooks, I only meant people with general knowledge about food. I and my companions will take care of most of the work."

"Still, no one in the sect really knows how to cook…" Asem embarrassedly stated.

"Then how did you feed the disciples?" Ed turned around to look at him in a surprised way.

"The citizens helped us. We've never had to worry about food before, so…"

Asem's words caused an idea to spark above Ed's head.

'They should have a lot of doubts concerning me, so this should be the best opportunity…' Ed thought to himself before looking at Asem. "Then, please ask for the cooks to come from the people. Once they are available, notify me."

Asem nodded as he and the others descended and headed into the crowd in front of them. Only Barsine remained behind. She approached Ed and stood shoulder to shoulder with him. She wore an emerald silk dress that complemented her light green eyes. She was as old as Alexander, yet she seemed like she didn't lose her youth at all. If it wasn't for her previous coma, she would have looked much more beautiful.

"Thank you for doing this…" still overwhelmed, her voice cracked, as she struggled to keep herself from crying.

"You've seen what happened if I didn't do at least this, I wouldn't be able to meet Alexander."

"His body, where is it?" Barsine seemed to struggle the hardest asking this question.

"…I've been keeping with me ever since. I'll organize a funeral for him once things calm down a little in the city," Ed explained.

"I see…You know, I haven't seen him smile the way he did in your fight, for more than thirty years. I'm feeling glad even while mourning for him." Barsine couldn't keep fighting any longer, as her tears started to drop one after the other.

"I was glad to have fought him. As unfortunate as it was, we met as enemies. Had we met as allies…as friends, I believe I would have gained a friend and a mentor for life."

"I'm sure he would be glad to hear you say such a thing."

.

"Edward Avalon, we are prepared." The old man that commented on Ed's power from before, approached him this time.

"I see. Then, allow me to address the people." Ed stepped to the front, causing the people to look at him again. "Everyone, in order to prepare everything, I will take us to another place. Don't worry, as nothing will happen to you."

Ed's words finished with the scenery around the plaza changing. A person in the crowd blinked, which caused him to freak out, as he found himself in a different place entirely.

"Those that will help us with cooking, follow me." Ed started to walk, but upon noticing how no one was following him, he turned around only to notice people gazing at him. "Uhm, we need to start soon…"

The people started to follow after him, even though they couldn't register what happened. Ed's companions were waiting for him ahead, near some cooking equipment.

Ed used his dimension creation ability without anyone noticing, but he simply stated that he 'teleported' the citizens. He didn't want to reveal such a strong ability of his when he didn't trust everyone yet.

Ed commanded people in the kitchen (his choice of words) like a certain Scottish cook. He made sure to prepare, not only food but also a show for the citizens. The children enjoyed watching him and his companions prepare the ingredients, while those that were powerful enough, realized the strength disparity by watching them cook.

The citizens that were cooking with Ed were horrified at first. Other than Ed, Emilia, and Bella, they were surrounded by all kinds of monster. However, as time went on, they realized that there wasn't much difference between them and the monsters. Of course, if they weren't following Ed's orders, things would have been quite different.

.

.

.

After a while, everything was prepared, and so Ed used the thousands of Telekinesis threads he could create to pass the food around.

"Everyone, eat to your heart's content, and then some more! From now on, no one will have to suffer from hunger while I'm around!"

The citizens looked apprehensively at the delicacies being passed to them. Their brains struggled against their stomachs. The fear of the unknown vs. the strong pull of euphoria, the result was unclear.

A child put his hand to the front, trying to grab a piece of pizza that Ed created, for them especially, but his mother stopped him. She then realized that Ed might kill her, just for that act, so she looked at him in fear.

"You don't trust me, and I don't blame. However, I will-" Ed noticed her actions and tried to explain himself, but he was surprised to see Asem limping forward until he reached the mother and her child.

"Please, sir, just forgive my son!" The woman panicked, believing that she would be punished. But, nothing happened to her. In fact, she stared at Asem, who stuffed his mouth with the pizza that the child wanted to eat.

"I trust him, as the person to make my father experience the highest level of a fight. And I trust him, as the sect master," Asem declared as the tears that filled his eyes spilled down.

The citizens stared at Ed and Asem. And, before long, their hands reached out to the food. The joy of eating delicious food, mixed with the hope of a better life, and the memories of the past arduous couple of months. They cried, laughed, chatted, and finally, they bowed respectively towards Ed.
