Chapter 226: An Unprecedented Transformation

'What is that? A three-headed dragon?' Eric looked at the figure fighting against Ellie alongside Gazef. It was only natural that he didn't recognize the Hydra, as it wasn't a creature that existed normally in this world. Eric bottled down his curiosity and switched his focus on helping Ellie. From his position, he could see how she was pressured by the combined attacks of her two enemies.

'That doesn't seem like an actual monster…It feels ephemeral, or rather like a ghost. Could it actually be an Avatar?' Eric thought to himself while advancing through the rubble. He was rather tired from his fight, but he could only push himself.

Moving like an assassin, Eric erased his presence with Zetsu and closed in on the Hydra. However, he couldn't hide his physical appearance, and thanks to the three heads' field of view, he was spotted rather quickly. It was all according to his plan, so he wasn't stopped by this and continued to move forward. The Hydra switched its attention to Eric and its attacks were not missed by Ellie. Gazef noticed this and looked towards Eric and finally noticed the disappearance of the Wind Cage.

"You…Where are my guards?!" Gazef was more than surprised, but he didn't act on impulse. He switched his focus back to Ellie and continued fighting her.

Eric responded, "Dead. Like you will be." He clashed against the Hydra's middle head while the other two targeted his sides. Eric jumped backward, avoiding its teeth.

"Ellie…Are you okay?" Eric asked out of worry. He could see that she was able to fight, but he was worried about something. On her left arm, a purplish-black wound disfigured it.

"It's fine, I managed to stop the poison by using my QI. I can't feel any pain for now anyway." Ellie responded as she exchanged blows with Gazef. None of her blows managed to draw out his blood, and none of his blows managed to hit her. The only reason she was injured, was because she was caught off guard when Gazef summoned his Avatar, the Hydra.

The Hydra's teeth were laced with a gooey green poison, which was the one that caused Ellie her injury. Thanks to her quick thinking, however, she managed to put a stop to it for now. But, the longer she drags the fight, the stronger the effect of the poison will be.

"Then you should focus on your opponent. I'll handle this thing." Eric chose the best course of action that he could think about. He knew that he wasn't able to kill the Hydra right now, and so he chose to allow Ellie to focus on Gazef. Killing Gazef meant killing the Hydra. It was a gamble that he was willing to bet on.

"No longer feel any pain? Well, I'll be glad to tell you that your parents felt plenty of it. They begged me to stop as I poisoned them again and again as I gave them the antidote. They even developed an immunity to it, which made me use even stronger poison. By the time I was done, they couldn't even be recognized as they had lost most of their internal organs. I had their heads displayed on sticks, and paraded them through the four cities!"

Gazef mixed lies with truth and spoke to Ellie. His goal was to get her mad enough to lose her rational thinking, as he thought it would allow him to gain an edge over her. However, much to his disappointment, Ellie didn't react to him. It was his miscalculation to think that Ellie was the type to go berserk when angered. But, in fact, she was the type to become as calm as still water.

"My parents would never beg for their lives, so you can stop with your lies. As for parading their heads, I wouldn't put it past you. However, as I told you before, I'm not going to forgive you. I will make you know what true hell feels like." Ellie squeezed her hands, so hard, that it felt like her Gauntlets were about to break. She channeled her QI towards them, making them transform into flaming weapons.

On the side, Eric heard what Gazef said. He bit on his lips as he thought about the emotions that Ellie was going through right now.

"I'd like to see you try! Unlike my useless guards, I will murder every last one of you! I DON'T NEED ANYONE!! ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THIS KINGDOM ARE USELESS!" Gazef's eyes turned red as veins popped up in his head. His scales glistened as his fist clashed with Ellie's. The two of them went blow for blow, but Gazef seemed to be overpowering her a little. Gazef punched Ellie, targeting her face, but she blocked with both of her fists. This caused Gazef's hands to get burned as they weren't as protected as the rest of his body.

But, ignoring the pain, Gazef used a roundhouse kick, sending Ellie flying towards the back. Ellie's back hit the ground as she rolled around for a couple of times. She jumped up before he could approach her and took her a fighting pose. Ellie bit hard on her teeth, showcasing her set of fangs.

'If he's able to transform, so should I! We're all part beast, so we should go even closer to a beast form!' Ellie convinced herself as she tried to make something happen within her body. Her best guess was to pump her QI reserves even harder into her muscles and bones.

Strangely enough, something did indeed happen. Ellie's body started to produce steam as if she boiling. Her muscles bloated up, turning her into a beefy form, while an orange patch of fur appeared from her elbow down. Her pupils dilated, and whisker marks appeared on her cheeks. Gazef stood motionless as he looked at Ellie with a look that screamed 'This can't be happening'.

"I told you, didn't?! I can do it without anyone's help!" Ellie shouted as her Gauntlets produced cracking sounds. Her hands and legs became a mix of human and tiger limbs, growing in size. However, thanks to Ed's mastery over Blacksmithing, they didn't break. Instead, they adapted to Ellie's new form, transforming into think, yet long claws.

Ellie crouched a little before her legs produced an explosion-like noise. The next instant, she had already punched a hole through Gazef's chest.

Chapter 227: Last Beats

Gazef only realized something was wrong once the blood started to flow out of his mouth. His eyes moved at a slow rate, catching the sight of a fist approaching his face. Ellie's new transformation didn't only give her speed, but also power. Blowing Gazef's head earlier required many enhanced strikes. But, now, she only used one punch. Blood, brains, and a disgusting viscous liquid spurted out of the exploded hit. Still, Ellie had learned from her previous mistake and didn't stand by. She released punch after punch, targeting any body part of Gazef that she could see, she only stopped once there was nothing to hit.

"Haa Haa…" Ellie was panting hard as she felt pain surging throughout her body. She herself realized that her transformation was not something natural. She forcibly modified her own body to undergo a drastic change for a boost in power. The repercussions showed themselves a lot sooner than she thought. In front of her very eyes, she could see how Gazef's body started to reform. She suddenly remembered something that Ed told her and the others after fighting Harald.

'If it's a cultivation technique, you only need to fight until your enemy's QI is exhausted. If it's a racial feat, then you need to fulfill a condition in order to kill them.' This was Ed's advice when fighting an enemy that could regenerate. At least, that's all Ellie remembered about it.

If Ed was present, he would remember that the way to kill a Hydra is to destroy all heads before any other else could regenerate. But, even then, he would be in a bind, as Gazef only has one head. Still, even then, he would have reached the same conclusion as Ellie, and that is to 'Kill him in one hit!'

Gazef stood back up with his reformed body, jumping towards Ellie without saying a word. He extended his hand and wrapped them around her again before she could react. He was trying to stop her from attacking him, as he knew he couldn't handle her attacks. Not even his scales could provide enough defenses for him.

"Heh!" Gazef let out a laugh once he managed to bind Ellie. However, he then felt a strong force tugging him. Ellie pulled Gazef towards her, by using her overwhelming physical strength. Gazef succumbed to force and his body arched backward like a bow. He had no idea what Ellie was planning, but he wasn't as worried since he thought that he hands were bound. Still, he forgot the main weapon of the tigers. The weapon they use to deliver the finishing blow against their enemies.

'The Fangs.'

Ellie opened her mouth as wide as she could while timing her attack correctly. Her target? Gazef's throat. Right as he was pulled in front of her, Ellie bit down with her entire force, biting through Gazef's neck like it was an ice cream. A gurgling sound was heard, as the air that tried to escape was stopped by the gushing blood. Gazef's eyes opened wide as he couldn't believe what happened to him. And, before he could react, Ellie made him taste even more fear.

She stepped on the elongated hands that bound her with her powerful legs. And, while gripping the parts that she could touch, she started to pull up using her entire waist strength.

"A-a-Ah!" Gazef tried to scream at the top of his lungs, but his damaged throat wouldn't allow it. He couldn't bear the pain of having his arms slowly torn off, yet he could do nothing but look at Ellie as she did it. A tearing sound was heard, and Ellie retreated a couple of steps. The force that kept her at place was canceled. She had removed both of his arms.

Ellie removed the parts that remained on her as she walked towards Gazef's mutilated body. He was struggling to get up, but couldn't as he had no hands to support him. His body started to regenerate, but Ellie didn't allow it. She inserted two fingers into the hole she made by biting his throat, and dragged down, removing the front half of his neck. She then proceeded to break both of his legs while throwing his hands on top of his. This was all to delay his regeneration as much as possible.

They were now standing on top of the destroyed castle, where Gazef's previous throne took place.

"It's time for you to return back to the ground," Ellie said as she raised her right arm, and crouched a little. The wind around her started to whistle as she started to gather the QI into her hand. Her entire body started to burn, so hot, that the fire turned pure white. Then, Ellie raised her left hand. She looked like someone trying to show off their muscles.

The white flames rushed into her Gauntlets, making them burn even fiercer. The light being produced from the Gauntlets rivaled that of the sun. Once she felt that her entire power was used, Ellie said, "Planetary Impact!" while hitting Gazef with both of her fists. A flash of light surged through the entire capital, with the origin being Ellie's attack. The houses and buildings shook due to her attack causing an earthquake.

Eric, who was busy fighting the three-headed Hydra, could only look towards Ellie's position as his heart beat hard. Again, he cursed his own shortcoming and vowed to become stronger.

Ellie's two punches caused everything under her to dissipate into nothing. Gazef's body, the rubble, and even her own two feet. She couldn't stop from injuring herself. She smiled as she looked at Eric who was coming towards her. The Hydra fighting him was no more, meaning that she fulfilled her mission. Her two feet continued to bleed out, while the poison on her left arm quickly spread through her body. Her QI, which was stopping the venom, was no more.

Her entire complexion grew pale and then turned into purple. The venom pierced through her heart and surged through her veins. Ellie couldn't move. She laid on her back and looked at the free sky that she created for her country. Her eyes closing ever so slowly, she couldn't help but think about her friends. Her heartbeat turned silent.
