Ed visited his mother and had a little chat with her. She was rather surprised by their sudden visit, but she was happy nonetheless. He informed her that he would be leaving before nightfall, as he didn't want to waste too much time, seeing how a war will happen once again. After leaving Bella with Elizabeth, he made his way towards Emilia's location, Ellie's room. There, he stopped right before he opened the door.
'I've seen enough shows to know where this is going. But, should I go with it?!! This might be a chance that will never happen again! Should I act like the dense main characters, and go through with it?!' A dilemma presented itself in front of Ed. To knock or not to knock? That was his question.
Stuck in his thoughts, he failed to notice Mehen reaching out for the doorknob, and moving it. The door started to slide slowly, and Ed, upon noticing it, imagined a bright light coming from the inside of the room. Not knowing what to do, he simply stood there motionless. Once the light(by Ed's imagination) disappeared, he saw the two girls sitting on a bed and chatting.
'Of course, everything is normal…' Ed gave up on his fantasies and entered the room while waving. He started to talk before the two of them said anything.
"We'll be leaving before the night. You can do whatever you want until then," Ed said while looking at Emilia. He then turned towards Ellie and said, "How are you feeling?"
Ellie, without saying anything, showed a thumb up and a bright smile, showcasing her two long canine teeth. Ed felt relieved to see that she was okay, but couldn't help and feel that she wanted to say something. Of course, he wasn't dumb enough to pressure her, so he started some small talk until she decided to say it herself.
"Ed. I would like for you to fight me. I don't want it to be a spar, but an actual fight," Ellie said as her pupils turned into slits, showing that she was serious. Ed stood by, and nodded his head while saying, "I don't mind."
Emilia didn't say anything and only stood up as Ed created a dimension for them. She knew that Ellie asked for the fight in order to boost her self-confidence. Ed agreed because he noticed the same thing.
Ed created a wasteland for them with even ground. He wanted the fight to be as straightforward as possible without anyone getting injured because of uneven terrain. The wind picked up speed as the two of them stood in front of each other, each one of them preparing his weapons. Mehen slithered away from Ed and increased in size while heading towards Emilia. Next, to her, he nudged her while nodding with his head, indicating that she should get on.
"Thank you," said Emilia as she knew what he had planned. Mehen returned to his full size and stretched towards the sky. He asked Emilia to get on so that the two can fight to their hearts' content without being worried about injuring anyone. Of course, Emilia had no trouble looking at them from so far away, as her eyesight could reach over hundreds of meters.
"We didn't have a serious fight since the academy, huh?" Ed said as he got into a kendo like-stance, with his katana raised in front of his eyes, pointing towards Ellie.
"It won't end like last time!" Ellie shouted as she got into a stance as well. Her left hand was in front of her, while the right one was on standby by her waist.
"Then, unlike last time, I'll make the first move." Ed rushed towards Ellie, covering the distance between the two of them instantly, and raised his katana above his head. As he swung down, Ellie used her left hand, covered by the gauntlet, to block his attack. Before the katana could pressure her, she changed its direction to the left, while preparing a punch with her right hand. However, before she could connect it, Ed disappeared.
Ellie's ears started to twitch and turn around, trying to look for Ed's position. Soon, Ed's figure appeared in front of her and her ears managed to catch the sound of his clothes being ruffled by the wind. Ellie rolled to the front as Ed swung his sword. Yet, when she turned around, he was no longer behind her. Again, she looked for Ed using her ears. The two of them continued to fight this way for a little while before they finally clashed.
Ellie used her 'Meteor Impact' while Ed imbued his katana with KI. The gauntlet and katana connected, resulting in an explosion, blowing away all the ground underneath, and around them. The rocks flew in all directions, some of them hitting Mehen, who felt nothing from them thanks to his scales. Before the explosion could recede, Ed and Ellie, who were blown away, connected once again.
"Woah!" Ed was surprised to feel himself being dragged towards Ellie. He had been focusing on her hands and forgot that she had an extra part that no other human had. It was her tail. Ellie managed to catch Ed by the ankle using her tail and drag him towards her. She used her right leg to kick his arms up, leaving his torso and face unprotected. And, before Ed could react, she used her right hand, gauntlet flaring by all the QI it was receiving and drove it right into his face.
An explosion, even bigger than the one from before, penetrated deep into the ground. The two figures appeared back outside of the crater that was resulted. Ed had a small line of blood flowing out of his mouth. He managed to protect himself from fatal damage by using Ryuu on his face. But, he was still injured. Ellie's attack was simply that strong.
"Okay, stop!" Ellie declared while putting her hands in front of her. "I shall take this as my win, I'm ending the fight here! I don't care if you took it easy on me this time, or if you were actually serious, I managed to injure the Bloody Hero! I am Supreme, Muhahahahha!" Ellie laughed out loud, leaving Ed with a wry smile on his face. Emilia descended and enjoyed a laugh with Ellie, while pointing at Ed and saying, "The monster is injured!"
Ed was glad. This way he knew that Ellie would not lose in the upcoming war. He knew that she could, nay, he knew that she would definitely save her kingdom!
Hello everyone! Hope you enjoy the chapter. What do you think of Ellie's development?
The morning light shone on the walls of Avalon. In front of its doors, two large armies departed in two different directions. At the forefront of one army was Hayato, the prince of Ryuu kingdom. His mission was to conquer the Oni kingdom. Behind him were almost 40.000 soldiers, composed of his kingdom's people, as well as the slaves that remained from the last war. These slaves were sent to the kingdoms that joined Avalon in standing against Blood sect.
However, they were not being forced into slavery. Instead, they were bound by a contract of five years. In these five years, they were going to do the bidding of the kingdom that took them, after which they would be released.
On top of these soldiers, two sect Elders from Glory sect joined Hayato. These two being Griffin and Bard. The three highest cultivators of the army would be the central force that would strike the enemy first.
The other army had Ellie as its leader. It was only obvious as she knew the kingdom best, and would be able to come up with a suitable plan to bring it down. Similar to Hayato's army, the soldiers amounted to 40.000 with both Avalon soldiers and slaves. Two Elders joined Ellie, Audun, and Becky, as well as Eric.
The march towards the two kingdoms was rather quiet. The galloping of the horses and the breathing of the soldiers was the only thing that was heard. They had a single mindset in their minds, to win. The soldiers had a high morale thanks to winning the last war, while the slaves didn't want to die before returning to their families.
They were all thinking about how this war would end much faster compared to the other one. The Oni and Beast kingdom both lost many soldiers due to allying with Blood sect. As such, they would be severely weakened and wouldn't be able to handle another war.
Both Ellie, as well as the leading figures of the army, summarized what the soldiers were thinking. Yet, they didn't say anything to remedy such flawed thinking. They simply allowed the soldiers to indulge in their naïve thinking. At least, until they reach their destination, they weren't going to say anything.
Night befell the land, and the soldiers went to rest. Some of them unable to sleep, as the terror of war, was deeply ingrained in their brains. Even though they believed they would win, the harsh images of mutilated bodies didn't leave their brains.
Inside a tent, four figures stood in front of a large map.
"The beast kingdom is comprised of five cities, with four of them surrounding the capital. The least guarded one of them is the southeastern one. In order to attack it, we will have to take a detour and walk all the way to the south, ignoring the north-eastern city, as well as the capital. But, I don't think such a large army will go unnoticed, so we might get spotted."
Ellie explained as showed those present all the information by map. All of them fell into deep silence as they thought. They knew that if they targeted the capital, they would get surrounded by the military of the four cities. But in case they take over a city secretly, they would have the element of surprise, as the other cities wouldn't be able to react before the capital is taken down. However, if they take too long to take over a city, their plan would be toast.
"I'm certain that the Beastmen are being extra vigilant. They know retribution is coming, as they chose to side with Blood sect. *Sigh* Where is Ed when you need him…" Eric remembered how Ed had left just the day before. He thought about how convenient his Space magic was.
"I suggest we head straight for the capital." Audun proposed the opposite of what they were trying to avoid.
"How come?" Ellie didn't want to agree nor deny his proposal. She was all ears now, as she couldn't decide on a plan on her own.
"If we target one of the cities, there is nothing that guarantees the reaction of the other ones. They could send people to investigate what happened, or they could send all of their militaries to the capital in order to protect it. In that case, we would have wasted time on a useless city." Audun explained as he was a veteran of war. His opinion weighed heavily in the matter.
"Judging by the map, the reinforcements would need at most one day to reach the capital. That gives us exactly that much time to take down the king."
Audun proposed an outrageous plan. The capital was surrounded by walls in every direction. The army would need to scale the walls, open the doors, and then take out the king. All in under a day.
"I see. Anyone else has a better a plan?" Ellie chose to listen to any other opinion before taking her decision. Seeing no one speaking she said, "Then we will go with this plan. Tell the soldiers that resting will have to wait until tomorrow. We're walking throughout the night!" Ellie took her decision while walking out of her tent and speaking to the guards there. They, in turn, went to let the army know.
The soldiers whose sleep was disturbed dared not to question why. They only gathered their stuff and started to walk in the direction of the Beastmen kingdom. After walking for the whole night, the reached a dense thicket by dawn, where Ellie decided to have a rest at.
"We will continue to walk during the night. Now, we can rest." Ellie told everyone before retreating back to her own tent to rest. As she was laying on the bed, she looked at her right fist, which she used to slug Ed in the face, as she smiled. She clenched her hand as a determined look appeared on her face.
The day passed by and the sun started setting. The group of soldiers stood up and started to walk in the direction of the capital. They were in the middle of the northern cities, a position Ellie chose due to the low watch over it. The army moved in total silence, and no light was used to show the way. People relied on their eyes to maneuver around.
"We fight at dawn, so make sure you are ready!" Ellie shouted as she raised the speed of her army. They needed to be as quick as they were quiet.
Hello everyone! In the past chapter, some of you thought that Ellie was acting narcissistic, but that wasn't what I was trying to imply q.q
Ellie simply chose to take the win by quitting the fight, contrary to the last time they fought where she pursued Ed until he showed her the difference in their powers. I was trying to show how she had developed mentally, but I guess my writing is still subpar...
PS: the next couple of chapters will focus on Ellie, before returning to Ed.
Enjoy!
