Ed didn't panic after noticing the monsters. Instead, he withdrew his Katanas and took a stance to attack. "Raikou" Ed returned Suika to her card form while calling Raikou. The latter understood that Ed was going to use an AOE skill to kill all the monsters. They weren't particularly strong, but there were a lot of them.
"Fire Tornado!" Ed spun around while slashing with his swords. The monsters were caught up inside the tornado. Seemingly unstoppable, it kept killing them one after the other. Soon enough, all monsters were on the ground.
Raikou got back out, and Ed summoned Suika. He didn't bother to store the monsters' bodies. They were too mutilated to be worth something. Ed activated his Map. It would usually give him a general idea of the structure of the area where he is. The floor this time was like an ant hive. Many rooms were joined together. What's more, the floor was brimming with monsters.
The challenge on this floor wasn't the strength of the monsters, but the number. Each room had hundreds of Knight Establishment monsters. Ed knew that if an inexperienced person were to enter, they would suffer greatly. Ed only asked for the information on how to get to the tower from Leonard. He wanted to conquer on his own, without help. No one would guarantee that he would always have a good understanding of his opponents.
On top of that, Ed also chose this place because he wanted to train a certain skill. He still didn't acquire it, but he had the prerequisite for it. Ed asked the system about the ability to learn skills on his own. The answer was favorable. Ed wouldn't have to rely on the Gacha to learn skills. But he couldn't learn skills that were too specific. For example, he would have never been able to acquire the Sharingan on his own. This automatically excluded race skills such as Super Saiyan abilities.
"They should be good enough" Ed stopped in front of one of the rooms. Inside the room, monsters that looked like Golems stood there. However, these ones weren't the usual type. Instead, they were too diverse. Some of them were holding swords, looking slim. Others had a big frame. Each one of them was specialized in speed, power, or defense.
Ed chose these monsters specifically for his skill training. He was trying to train his Haki. He already got a general idea for training it. Haki is split into three types. Two of them could be trained by anyone, while the last type is very rare. The first type is Armament Haki. This type lets people use their spirit as an armor. Allowing them to block attacks to a certain degree, while also serving as a good offense. This type enables the user to hurt intangible opponents. Even if they were made from fire or lightning, they would be powerless in front of this Haki.
The second type is observation Haki. This type allows people to feel the presence of others even when they couldn't be seen. This one was similar to En, but Ed knew that it was much more useful. It doesn't drain the person as much. It also allows them to feel the intention of others, making it easier to predict and dodge their attacks. If it is trained enough, it could even let the user 'see' a few seconds if the future.
The last and most important type is the Conqueror's Haki. Ed wanted to acquire this type the most. It allows people to overpower others through their spirit. Those who are too weak would not be able to keep their conscious in case it is used. Ed was bound to fight a was a war against the Blood sect. And wars are fought in great numbers. If he could reduce his enemies' numbers, it would be worth it. It is also said that whoever can use such Haki has the disposition of a king.
Ed entered the room with a blindfold. He was going to train the second type of Haki. The first one was already like Ken. Ed would be able to use it as soon as he can condense his spirit into an armor. The Observation Haki was also similar to En and Seikuken, but also inherently different. It couldn't only sense the presence of other also their feelings and thoughts.
Ed used a short teleport to the middle of the monster horde. There were more than 100 monsters who quickly pounced on Ed. The fast ones took less than a second to reach him. Ed was used to fighting monsters, so his instincts kicked in allowing him to dodge them. He suppressed them and tried to train properly. Raikou and Suika were on standby by Ed's orders. They would intervene if they felt like Ed was in danger, but it seemed like they didn't have to worry. The monsters were far weaker than Ed. Making them unable to harm him.
Ed spent almost two hours in this state. As an Enhancer, his durability, stamina, and defense were much higher compared to others. The monsters simply couldn't keep up. Most of the Golems' arms or swords were crumbling by now. Ed knew that this was their limit, so he simply killed them. In one sword slash.
He took his blindfold off and walked to the entrance of the room. He felt like he only made a little improvement. He knew it wasn't simple to be able to use Haki naturally. But, he still felt annoyed. It was one of his bad habits since he got many skills already at a high level.
"I'll do the same in a few more rooms, then we'll look for the floor boss." Ed had one advantage. The monsters' numbers were almost unlimited. The tower would keep generating monsters at a speed far greater than the speed they are killed by. This gave Ed the chance to train as much as he wants. He opened his Map and marked the most populated rooms in his mind. He had to check the type of monsters as well. He wanted to try monsters like Golems who were automated since it means that their thoughts are almost nonexistent. Thus, letting him train his Haki much more efficiently.
Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the late release but there is a reason for it. I started an Internship today, making me unable to post at the usual time which was around 12:00-16:00 GMT.
Now I'll have to change the publishing time to 20:00-00:00 GMT. I'm sorry about the sudden change. I hope you enjoy the chapter^^
Ed spent an entire week on this floor. Not by his choice, but he couldn't find the boss monster or the teleportation circle. The second floor was huge. Vastly superior in size compared to the first one. 'The boss would usually be in the lowest room. But it is so far away…' Ed kept his Map on all times. He didn't meet any other humans. This made him question his ability to explore. If other people found the next floor so fast, then that means Ed was wasting his time.
However, Ed did manage to level up quite a bit on this floor. He was now level 26. One step away from Earth Establishment. His training is also making him better and better at Haki. Ed's plan was to acquire the Haki skill, and then focus on his space magic. He felt like he was close to a breakthrough when he entered the tower. So now, it was only a matter of patience.
"This will take too long! Raikou get in my shadow…" After walking around for two full hours, Ed finally snapped. "If I need to get to the last floor, I'll create my own way!". Ed was focusing his Nen in his hand. The yellow aura kept on condensing, turning as bright as the sun. Ed was thinking of developing his Hatsu, and this was the first step he decided on.
After a couple of seconds, Ed hit the floor beneath him with his powered up fist. The feeble ground couldn't bear with the punch and crumbled. Ed popped up a couple of pills he had created. These pills were specifically made to help one recover his QI. He kept charging one punch after the other. The floor's ground was like paper for Ed.
Some people, who were considered professionals in this tower, had just teleported inside the second floor. However, as soon as their feet touched the ground, they felt like an earthquake was happening. An extremely powerful one. 'What is happening?!!' None of them had experienced this before. This floor wasn't a dangerous one, especially to experienced people. But now, they felt as if a monster belonging to the top floors was somehow summoned here.
Ed was happily destroying the floor's grounds. Unbeknownst to him, the group of people would live in fear for a couple of days on this floor. Ed spent a good 30 minutes destroying the ground. The last room was hundreds of meters deep, making it hard to reach. Yet, Ed did it in less than thirty minutes. Excluding the last week.
As Ed was falling down, he noticed a huge metal door. "That better be the boss' room" Ed wasn't in the mood for any games. He looked up and noticed that the floors he broke were being fixed on their own. It was a magical ability of the tower. Its ability to mend itself was outstanding. Ed made his way to the metal door and pushed it open. Inside was a huge room, and in the back were three Golem statues. Only one was missing for them to make a circle. They were holding great-swords in front of them, resembling ancient statues.
When Ed reached the middle of the room, the three statues started moving. Each one of them carried their own sword and faced Ed. In Ed's case, he brought out a blindfold. He was adamant about learning Haki on his own. No matter how long it took him. Ed scanned the Golems before losing his sight. He found that each of them was King Establishment level 2. Not too strong, but not too weak. Just right for a challenge. Of course, this only applied to normal people. Ones that didn't blindfold themselves in a life or death battle.
The Golems were making their to Ed. However, he simply stood still. As if digesting all the information he was getting. Slowly, but surely, the world was getting slower and quieter around Ed. It was as if he was swallowed by darkness where only he existed. Suddenly, four small light orbs appeared around him. Three were in front of him, while one was in his shadow. 'This is?!' Ed finally got an inkling about Observation Haki. It was different than anything he experienced before.
Ed kept observing the orbs as they got close to him. 'How will they move' Ed was trying to figure out how they will attack. He was trying his best to make the orbs take the actual shape of the Golems. Unfortunately, he got too into it and got sent flying by the slash of one of the Golems.
"That hurts!" Ed was not really hurt. But his senses were dulled currently, making him sensitive to other feelings. What he didn't know was that Raikou, who was in his shadow, was secretly laughing. Suika wasn't around since he recalled her while he was destroying the ground. Ed got up once more and approached the Golems. This time a little more carefully. Every time, he would go into the 'darkness' making him 'see' the things around him. But, he would either get hit or dodge by instinct breaking him out of his trance-like state.
Ed repeated this process a few times before he got sick of it. "I'll do better if I fight someone stronger than me anyway!". It was the truth. Ed always did better when fighting stronger opponents. Not those that couldn't even kill him when he didn't even retaliate. Ed summoned Gobuta, Goburou, and Garu. It has been a while since all three of them were summoned together for a fight.
"Those are your opponents" Ed pointed to the three Golems. These Golems were different from the ones Ed fought before. These ones didn't get tired or break down. Each one of Ed's companions chose his opponent. Nothing could describe the battle better than 'One-Sided Slaughter'. Ed's three companions didn't know how to hold back. They did their best to finish things quickly.
Gobuta shattered the first monster with one sword slash. His Silver great-sword seemed as if it had cut through dimensions when destroying the first Golem. Goburou's opponent had hundreds of holes in him. The Golem started crumbling down from the sheer number of holes. Garu didn't even use his two swords. Instead, he was holding the giant Golem with one hand while breaking it apart with the other.
After the last Golem was defeated, Ed and his monsters were surrounded by light. They were being teleported to the third floor.
