In the morning, Ed went to train. He didn't train enough while he was crafting, so he was feeling rusty. He sparred with Raikou, while Gobuta sparred with Goburou. The latter two complemented each other. Gobuta focused on power and defense while Goburou was all about speed and vitality. Their racial traits were now showing. Later on, Suika fought against Garu. All of Ed's monsters, other than Raikou, were about as strong as one another.
After sparring, Ed took a bath and headed to Arthur's office. He was going to discuss some stuff with him.
"So what did you want to talk about, Ed?" Both Arthur and Leonard were in the office when Ed came inside. Ed didn't mind Leonard's presence, as he trusted him as much a family, so he started speaking.
"I'll be going to the central continent after one week". Ed told them while looking serious.
The world that Ed was in right now had five continents. When looking at a flat map, two were in northeast and north-west, while two more were in south-east and south-west. The last one was at the center of them all.
"So you'll be heading to the Tower of Origin…" Arthur quickly figured out Ed's real intentions. In the central continent, a tower existed. This tower appeared hundreds and hundreds of years ago. At the same time, monsters started appearing in the world. Many people thought that the tower was the reason why monsters appeared. Thus calling it Tower of Origin. However, as people conquered the monster-infested tower, they couldn't find anything related to the origin of monsters.
"Yes. There will be monsters much stronger in that tower, which will help me, get stronger." Ed found out about the tower from the library in the academy. He already knew about the central continent from the memories of the previous prince.
"The tower was made from twelve floors. Each time you ascended, the cultivation level of monsters would increase as well. By the time you reach the twelfth floor, you'll be fighting Heavenly Establishment monsters". Leonard who was quiet until now started explaining things for Ed. It seemed that he had visited the tower himself.
'Shouldn't it be more?'. Ed found it weird that the tower, which was suspected as being the origin of monsters, only has Heavenly Establishment monsters.
"So you'll be heading to the Southern country?" The continent where Ed was at is the North-east continent. So he'll have to leave to a southern country to be able to sail to the central continent.
"Will you need money?" Arthur knew that Ed had a lot of money, which was obvious from the way he bought the materials. But he still offered him.
"No thanks, I'll be fine" Ed also didn't plan on taking any money. He could make as much as he wanted from simply selling potions, let alone magic weapons and other items.
"Another thing I wanted to discuss is the Blood sect. Seeing that they still haven't made any moves after their first attack, I'm now convinced they won't act for a long time". Ed didn't simply spend his time in the basement for the last three weeks. He asked his father to inform him about any news concerning the Blood sect He was afraid they might be targeting some of his friends' countries.
"I believe that the attack on Scale kingdom was a planned attack, not only a greeting. They must be using Scale kingdom as a stepping stone for them. That way they'll attract the attention of criminals and other rogues." Attacking a kingdom, as strong as Scale, is bound to sound appealing to some. "They will probably wait for a year or so before getting back to their old ways of terror". Ed did his best to estimate the Blood sect's time of cool down. In a year they will have gathered enough forces to truly be called a sect.
"What you said does make sense. But, we can never be too careful. You can leave for the central continent without any worries. We'll take care of things over here." Arthur didn't want to stop Ed's plans of power. So he reassured him that nothing would befall his family, as well as friends.
Ed finished discussing the things he wanted with his father. He also gathered enough information about the Central Continent, so he wouldn't be lost there. Another important thing he discussed was Nen. Ed asked Arthur to teach Nen to Leonard as soon as possible. It wouldn't hurt him as he was already at the upper levels of Heavenly Establishment. He also asked him to teach Oliver, Eric, and Griffin when he felt the time was right. Teaching Griffin would make it a gift to the top disciple of the sect from now on.
Ed spent the week doing three things: shopping, training, and training Bella. He asked Becky to get him some items he would need for his travels. He also trained normally with his companions. As for Bella, he continued teaching her sword techniques. He was astonished at her learning speed. She understood everything at an incredible pace. She was already impressive before, but it was even more impressive now after learning Nen. Ed didn't have to worry about her taking too long to get her Katana from Arthur.
The days went by quickly. Ed was now getting ready to leave Avalon kingdom one more time. Everyone was present to send him off. Same as last time.
Each one of his friends and family sent him off with the best of wishes. Ed was happy such a thing was happening. It always filled his heart with joy to know that people cared about him. Ed was leaving Avalon Kingdom one more, but this time he was leaving a gift.
Ed asked Arthur to build an orphanage for the children of the slums. It was his final gift to Eri, and the children, as he would be helping as many unfortunate children as possible from now on.
"Let's go Raikou, Suika!" Ed spoke while running towards the distance, with his two companions by his side. He was going on a journey to get stronger!
Hello everyone! A bonus chapter!
This chapter marks the end of Volume 1.
Chapters tomorrow might be coming later than usual, so forgive me :x
"Come on children let's go" A man got up and started walking, followed by two small children. A boy and a girl. "It's been a while since I got so much money! We'll have some meat today!" The man was a simple hunter and made his money by hunting in the sea. The children were ecstatic about hearing the news.
"Ohh? That's an interesting talk, old man. If you have so much money then you have to give us our share." Suddenly, five men came out of a dark alley. They were all young, not more than 20 years old.
"Run!" When the man saw them, blood left his face. Who didn't know these five men, disciples of the blood sect? They terrorized this port city for a week now. He didn't have any choice but to let his children escape.
"You can't leave that easily. Children fetch quite the price on the black market!" The leader of the men didn't seem intent on letting them leave. With the money the man had and the hopeless children, he would be making quite the sum of money.
The children were smart. As soon as they heard their father, they turned back and started running. Their father was a hunter, so his physical ability was high, yet he was no match for cultivators. He could only but them a couple of seconds before being tossed aside. The men would be coming back for him when they catch the children.
"Kyaaa!" The little girl's voice sounded. The man's heart leaped out of his throat with fear. His family was going to be sold as slaves.
"Who the hell are you?!" the leader, who should be laughing, was asking someone a question. The hunter did his best to look up. He saw a man no older than those disciples, with something on top of his head. 'Is that a slime?!!' The man was bewildered by what he saw.
"Are you okay? Sorry I didn't look in front of me." The young man helped the little girl up. She couldn't help but feel safe with him. "Please help us!!" She had tears in her eyes, and her younger brother was sobbing.
"He can't help you! We're from the Blood sect, no one would be able to oppose us!" The leader of the young men started babbling on and on about how he was part of the Blood sect, until.
"You're not from the Blood sect. Its members all have a tattoo of a drop of blood on their left cheek." The men heard him and unconsciously reached out to touch their empty left cheeks. "I was kidding. It's actually the right cheek." This time they were looking like idiots, with both of their hands on their faces.
"You don't have to be afraid of them. They're only idiots that like to touch their cheeks" The young man spoke to the two young children. When they heard him, they looked at the group of men and started laughing.
"You bastard!" The young leader knew that he couldn't stay in the port city now. His scheme was discovered. Many people heard them, but simply chose to hide or run away at the beginning. All five people rushed at Ed, trying to get revenge.
"You're a danger after all, so…". Before anyone could understand what had happened, the five men lying unconscious on the ground with red bruises on their forehead. No one could see what the young man did. They only knew that he was the one who did it.
"Eat this" The young man made his way to the injured hunter and gave him a pill. As soon as he ate it, he felt that his injuries were healing. "Thank you so much!" The hunter kept thanking the young man. He had just saved him and his family. "How can I repay you?!"
"Well, you can tell me how to get to the ship leaving for the Central Continent." The man only asked for directions as payback. The hunter happily told him. "If I may ask, what's your name?" The hunter asked.
"Edward," Ed told him and made his way to the ship. What he didn't know was that a certain family's hero would forever be called Edward for generations to come.
Ed spent two weeks before he reached the Port city. The distance was quite long, so he couldn't reach as fast as he thought. Fortunately for him, ships heading to the Central Continent were always present. Ed went ahead to the ship and bought a ticket for boarding. Every ship could take about 500 passengers, so they had to count them using tickets. Ed had to buy two tickets because of Suika. He didn't want to make her stay in card form, so he chose to pay for her. It was only 1.000 gold coins each anyway.
Ed boarded the ship and looked for his room. The ship was huge. Big enough to be called a cruise ship. It was made from metal, making it sturdy. Ed didn't know how it was able to move with all the weight but guessed it had something to do with magic. Every passenger had their private room, but you could ask for shared rooms. Ed and Suika obviously stayed at the same room.
Every time a ship departed, they would have at least one Heavenly Establishment staff on board. The way to the CC was not a safe one, as sea monsters would appear every time. This was the reason why the tickets were very expensive. Ed was tired from his journey, so he took a bath as usual and slept. He didn't even eat. Nor did he care about the scenery of the trip. All he wanted was to sleep.
The ship needed three days to reach the CC. Ed had enough time to make his plans before he got there. He was also relieved since he met a lot of people posing as Blood sect members. This meant that Blood sect is truly looking for members. This guaranteed that Ed can take his time leveling up. Without having to worry about his friends and family.
Ed's thoughts were running wild, as his eyes closed shut.
