"Well then master Ed, how should we handle this?" Griffin was now standing next to Ed. He was a King establishment level 5 but he was still no match for the man in front of him.
"We just have to hold on until my father comes here. I sent all of the disciples to inform him. Even if there was an issue all of them wouldn't be stopped" There were no disciples on the sect because Ed sent them all. This was also so he could fight without being reserved.
Ed had deactivated his Sharingan so he could last a little longer in the fight.
Griffin drew his sword and Ed took a stance once again. Then the man started his assault.
"Be careful Griffin, he can use illusions." Ed made sure to warn him about the opponent's abilities.
The man's speed was astonishing. In less than one second he was in front of Griffin. However the latter was also incredible, he could keep up and even counter-attack.
'He certainly is amazing' Ed could see how this young man was the number one disciple of their sect. He also joined the fight and both of them could pressure the man with their sword skills. Suddenly the man stepped back and looked like he was charging something up.
"Be careful he's using some type of magic!" Ed warned Griffin. Sure enough, the man conjured a huge fireball and threw it at the two.
"Leave this to me" Ed spoke and sheathed both of his swords."Nitoryu Iai: Rashomon!!" He then used the skill that was able to cut up a train compartment. After he was done the fireball was split into two and passed both of them.
Ed looked towards the old man and noticed he was gone. Griffin was also on guard seeing him disappear. "He must be using illusion magic to make himself disappear!" Ed figured out the trick and activated his Sharingan once again. He looked around and could see the space being blurry behind Griffin so he warned him quickly.
"Behind you!" Griffin heard Ed and quickly slashed where the man was, but could feel nothing. The man's speed was very impressive.
"Those eyes of yours are troublesome" The man was annoyed that his plans were foiled because of Ed so he switched his attention to him.
Griffin still couldn't see the man and was on guard but noticed Ed was tense so he knew he was being targeted. He rushed towards him and asked for assistance. "It would be a great help if you could tell me where he is, young master"
Ed knew Griffin wanted to help him so he started giving him directions. After a while their team play was perfect. However, the man was just too strong and they had suffered a lot of injuries.
Ed was now panting because of the Sharingan. He could usually last longer, but following the man's illusions while giving Griffin orders took its toll on him.
The man rushed at Ed and slashed. "It's time to end this" Ed was tired but still smirked.
"It is time to end this indeed" Ed jumped backward and yelled "Raikou!"
Ed's trusted partner who was waiting all this time jumped out of his shadow and used his lightning attack. After evolving for the 2nd time he now could use the lighting from a distance.
"Aaaah!" The man got hit by the lightning and stiffened up. He never expected a shadow-wolf to be hiding all this time.
Ed and Griffin used this chance to attack.
'Wind blade!' Ed coated his swords with wind and used fire magic on them. It was the combo he had used in the spar with Raikou.
Griffin also seemed like he coated his sword with something. It seemed like it was dense Qi.
Ed slashed his swords and sent the flames towards the man. The strength of this skill seemed like it was doubled when he used it with his two swords this time.
Griffin also slashed. The attack looked like what Ed's father used in their spar.
Raikou used flame magic as well and conjured many small fireballs.
All three of their attack hit their targets. A great noise was heard as if an explosion took place and dust filled the place.
After the dust cleared out, they could see that the man was injured. He had a deep slash on his body and some flame markings on his arms and head.
"How DARE YOU!" The man seemed like he was still fine after all of that. Ed and the rest were dumbfounded seeing that.
'All our attacks didn't even cause him to slow down...' Ed was now desperate.
The man charged up a lot of fireballs. It was similar to what Raikou just did, only the fireballs looked more menacing.
Ed got in front of the two and used the Sharingan and Seikūken combo. With perfect precision, he kept hitting all of the balls. Griffin was surprised by this; he knew he couldn't do it.
After the Fireballs stopped Ed was simply too exhausted. He had pushed his body too far. Raikou realized this and came in front of him, protecting him. Griffin did the same.
Ed knew he would only get in their way if he tried to fight so he got back and simply warned them when the man used illusions.
Ten minutes later, all three had wounds on them. They could not fight anymore. The man knew this and moved to Ed to kill him, as he was the most troublesome.
"You should be proud kid, no one has pushed me this far when they were weaker than me!" The man showed respect to Ed and swung his sword.
However soon a shout was heard that made hearts tremble.
"YOU DARE KILL MY SON!" It was Arthur, he had finally arrived.
The man knew his time was done. He could not fight Arthur let alone escape from him when he was injured. He could kill Ed before his father could reach him, but he wanted to know how far this child would go so he simply walked to where his father was.
Arthur understood his intentions and pulled out his saber. He was glad his opponent was a warrior at heart and not a savage.
The two began their fight. Ed and Co. couldn't follow at all. The man was taking it easy on them all this time.
'I need to get stronger...' All three of them had the same thought.
Soon enough due to his wounds, the man fell on his knees.
"As thanks for having mercy on my son at least, I'll allow you to die as a warrior!" Arthur swung his sword and decapitated the man. One could see gratitude in his eyes as he died.
Arthur had thought about interrogating him but as they fought he knew the man was an expert so he would not disclose any information. And his act with Ed made Arthur respect him.
As the man died, Ed could hear the notification.
*Ding*
Mission complete.
Obtained 10.000 exp.
Hey everyone. I hope you enjoyed the fight. If you find anything wrong please mention it so i could fix it!
'System I wasn't the one who killed the culprit so why did I get the exp?'
[The quest only asked to stop the culprit. No one said anything about you killing him yourself. As soon as the threat disappeared the quest was considered done]
'...' Ed had a stupid look on his face after realizing that what the system said was true. 'Next time I need to make sure I understand the quest first'
Ed was injured and tired so he was sitting down on the ground when his father got to him.
"You've done an excellent job, Ed. If we waited for any longer your brother would have completely under their control."
"I was just lucky I found out. It was harder to find them" It took Ed more time searching for his brother than fighting the enemies.
[If host used the Map he had gotten it would have been easier]
After hearing his system, Ed had a twisted face. 'Why didn't you tell me?'
[You never asked]
Ed's face got even more twisted. His father noticed it and got worried. "Are you okay Ed?!".
"I'm okay father; it's only my injuries" Ed couldn't tell him what was actually wrong, so he just blamed his injuries.
"Then let us return to the castle." Arthur turned back and ordered some disciples to carry Ed and Griffin back to the castle for healing. However, when the disciples got closer to Ed, Raikou got in their way and put Ed on his back. He wasn't as injured as Ed and it looked like he didn't trust anyone with his partner.
Ed didn't forget to check on the orphan who saved him but didn't find him around. He probably left as soon as Arthur got to the scene. Ed wouldn't forget his help would help him when he finds him.
When Ed and the rest got to the castle they were immediately checked upon by doctors. They wounds were bandaged and Arthur gave them pills to help them with their treatment.
Ed and Griffin were now alone since Raikou left to sleep in Ed's room.
"Thank you, Griffin, if you didn't come to help I wouldn't have survived" Ed was grateful for Griffin's assistance.
"Do not say that young master, as a disciple of the sect and as a citizen of this country, it is my duty to help the royal family."
"No, I need to thank you and apologize to you. When I met you last time I felt caution against you. So I presumed you were an enemy at first and even doubted you when this incident happened"
"... Then I need to apologize to you as well. The caution you felt toward me was probably because of my jealousy. As expected I couldn't hide that from you."
"Why would you be jealous of me when you are the number one disciple?" Ed couldn't understand Griffin's thoughts. "I was always bedridden".
"It is precisely because of that. I always had to work hard, and I thought you who had everything didn't need to work at all. But today I clearly was mistaken, the power you showed was beyond anything someone who didn't work could achieve!" Griffin regretted the image he imposed on Ed.
'Well you aren't wrong exactly... the previous prince didn't work at all. But he was bedridden so it wasn't all sunshine and roses.'
"Then let us thank each other only and not apologize!"
"Agreed" Ed and Griffin's relationship would be better from today onward.
Ed spent two days recovering. After that, he went to his father to discuss the incident.
"So Ed, tell me how did you find out your brother was being controlled?"
"These eyes allow me to see Qi. When I saw Eric's Qi the other day it was disturbed so I thought something was wrong with him. I looked for him at the sect and found him with those 3. When I activated my eyes a 2nd time, I could see through the man's illusions so I thought he was using them to control Eric." Ed told Arthur and even showed him the Sharingan.
Arthur had seen the Sharingan before during the spar with Ed so he wasn't surprised at first, but after hearing its abilities he was stunned.
"How is Eric father?" Ed hadn't seen Eric since he knocked him out.
"He is okay. He is not being controlled anymore but I would like for you to check up on him again just to be safe."
"Okay father" Ed was relieved his brother was okay.
"By the way father, why did they target Eric?" Ed wanted to know why his brother was targeted.
"All of the culprits were killed but I can guess their objective. They probably wanted to control Eric before he got stronger so they could control the country when he... becomes king" Arthur hesitated at first but decided to tell Ed the truth.
Ed understood as well. He was bedridden for all his life, so although he was the eldest, he couldn't become king. And now even though he was getting stronger it was already announced that Eric was next in line so it couldn't be changed or else they would lose face.
"This time it was my fault. I let them get all the way inside the country, they even targeted my family!" Arthur was blaming himself for his negligence.
"We stopped them and that's what matters father." Ed consoled his father the best way he could.
"Indeed. Leonard should be back with the sect elders so security should be increased in the country"
Ed now understood why there were no elders in the sect when he fought the illusion man.
"When will he back? And where were they?" Ed was curious about the general's absence.
"They should be back in two days. They were in a neighboring country trying to establish diplomatic relationships with them." Arthur answered Ed's questions; he had nothing to hide from his son.
"Then I will take my leave." After finishing his talk father Ed prepared to leave.
"Wait Ed take this." Arthur put two pouched on his desk. One was a lot bigger than the other.
"This one has 1000 gold coins from the bear you killed the other day, while this one had 5000 gold coins for killing the man" Arthur didn't forget to give rewards for his son.
"Then I will take the 1000 gold coins only for the other pouch please give it to Griffin he helped after all" Ed didn't forget his friend, Griffin's share.
"The rewards was 10.000 gold coins at first but 5000 was given to Griffin, I knew you would want to share it" Arthur indeed knew Ed's personality well.
"In that case, I want to buy something from you, father with this money" Ed was smirking as if remembering something nice.
"What is it?" Arthur asked his son.
After reaching an agreement with his father, Ed left the castle with Becky to search for a certain individual.
Ed got some rewards for all his work!
