Chapter 24: Chapter 24 the Start of a journey
Marconi is in English class as he finally can pronounce and write the Russian English teacher's name.
In this class a few new faces show up as this class starts to fill and the higher point people leave to other classes.
Here they start on the book Mein Kampf, as they are there to study the power of language and the language of politics. In the book they talk about "I can fight only for something that I love. I can love only what I respect. And in order to respect a thing I must at least have some knowledge of it".
Written by the author they discuss why this would impact the population, how background contributes to language and after one productive brainstorming class they leave the classroom exhausted.
Marconi decided to stay longer as the students get to decide how long to stay and for his studious nature, he got 1 academic credit. Currently he has a total of 5, 1 from english, 2 gifted by the janitor, 1 from the librarian but only as collateral for books, and 1 that was given for turning in an extra credit work.
Marconi knows he won't be able compete with the powerhouses for the high tier items in his grade, such as a 1.2x grade booster or will he try his luck on the wheel of fortune as he isn't a trivia person.
Although there are items such as the lottery, most know they won't get anything although the possibility is there. Marconi is thinking of borrowing a second hand passive boost sold in the student store or trading with a senior.
Tobias got his hands on the 1.2x grade booster and a low tier study guide. Preston is currently using his athletic skills to gain academic credits. While Edgar is coming up with schemes and rackets to make more credits.
Marconi is just an average student. He does however try to gather some information as everyone is doing to see if he can find an advantage.
He does finally try something very few in 6th grade try to do which is approach 8th grades and ask for advice and tips. Although they sort of ignore him, by hanging out he does pick up on a few tidbits and ideas that he could try.
While talking to the Janitor, he says "hey james, could I get a low interest academic credit loan from you I'll pay you back later." James responds
"Don't worry, although I'm not a gambler and I wouldn't get on our games I can still give you a zero interest loan for 100 academic credits.
One piece of advice is to not be in the red during summer break to the school bank because it accumulates when you come back even though we don't have school.
Also find a safe place to store these pieces of paper (think stamps or class currency - that's an academic credit). School card storage siphons up a large amount of school credits."
With a large amount secured Marconi decided to run a lottery at a loss, where everyone can win more than they paid. but the catch is that he would pay them 4 months later and pay in increments. After creating an artificial scarcity of 20 tickets (he only has 100 academic credit).
His current balance is -120.
He owes James 100 credits + the extra 20 credits he loses from the lottery that he promised the owners of tickets. What Marconi did was effectively take out a loan of 120 at a very low interest. He can't really rely on the goodwill of James to much as he wants some independence and by doing so he bypasses the banks high interest rate.

Michael_v1 I do believe at this time I was watching an extra credit series of the south seas bubble or at least drew inspiration from the england bank lotto of [some year]. I thought this was quite clever considering he created some liquidity. I enjoy economics, and I guess I tried to make something of it.
