Chapter 5: Reports to the Emperor
Devil Continent, that's what this continent is called. The Devil Continent values strength and status over everything. However, it doesn't mean that this is a place without any rules and regulations. Instead, some of the rules and regulations on the continent are set solid and no one can break those. The same way as no one can stop the sun light from reaching the earth, but if it is done, the consuqeunces are unimaginable, the said rules cannot be broken. The rules that cannot be broken are called the Immortal's Laws. The reason for it is because these laws can be created only by the people who attained immortality. Immortals gain the understanding of secrets of the natural laws and gain the power to manipulate them, therefore the laws they set are equal to the heavenly laws. Only when a person reaches Immortality, he gains a one-time chance to set up a single law using the understanding he gains of natural laws. Of course, given the strengths and knowledge one has to have to reach immortality, the talent required is beyond extraordinary and when someone does attain immortality, after some time he forcibly gets transferred to another dimension called the Immortal Realm.
Reaching immortality, a one in a millennium kind of genius called Chang An being tired of the wars between countries and the mentality where strong preys on the weak, a few thousand years ago set up his rule about the amount of countries that can exist on the Devil Continent by fixing the borders for the countries. He was an Immortal who attained the understanding of laws connected to the earth, therefore if one country was to expand beyond it's set boundaries, the Chang An immortal's law would take place and bury the country that broke the law under the ground.
Since then, the Devil Continent was to have only 6 countries. The boundaries were fixed, and couldn't be changed, therefore, there was no way for the countries to start a war against each other, even when at the stake were some of the extremely valued treasures or royalty from the country that committed atrocities. The countries are: Monster Empire, Empire of the Southern Evil Phoenix, Evil Dragon Knight Empire, Northern Frost Devil Empire, Western Empire of the Sun Eater, Eastern Sun Creating Empire.
The countries didn't interact much officially, since there was no reason for them to ally against each other since they couldn't overtake the land. However, behind the curtains, there were many spies sent to the countries to snatch away any rare treasures that are discovered in the allocated country. The 6 countries were constantly keeping each other in check. And when an opportunity would present itself, they would assassinate the officials, rob and steal for treasures.
Monster Empire was consisting of more than a thousand cities. However, none of them could be matched equal to the capital of the Empire which was called Monster Abode. It was called such because any person who was able to get a foothold in the city was of either terrifying background or of terrifying strength compared to any other city in the Empire.
The Monster Empire was no different from other countries when they were sending their own spies or protecting from them. Moreover, because of the status of the strongest, the Monster Empire had the highest concentration of spies. Some countries even formed an alliance against the Monster Empire, where their spies would act together in cases where there were highly important missions. Each spy organisation from the alliance would request the help only limited amount of times. And the side without asking for unnecessary question would help to fulfil the mission.
To find and eradicate the spies, each country had created a special force consisting of elite fighters and elite scholars, who were among the best in the country. In the Monster Empire, the special force was named CIA -central intelligence agency, and it had two departments. First the was the Devil department whose job was checking backgrounds of the people, finding out the suspicious people and recruiting for the enemy spies into their own. There also was the Monster Department whose job was to catch or liquidate the people who are suspected of espionage.
The CIA had branches all over the country but showed especial attention to the capital Monster Abode. The reason being for the Imperial family presence in the capital, since any form of mishap with the members of the Imperial Family, would lead to great turbulence amongst the society.
The last three month, the CIA have been directing all of their power to find the culprits behind the third prince Julius's case by the highest order from the Emperor himself. The Emperor had 4 sons, and dearly loved each of them, but since every parent has a favourite, the Emperor was not an exception. The third prince was his favourite, firstly because of his talent, secondly because of his righteous character.
The third prince Julius had all the means, ability to act like he wanted, and no punishment could be given to him whatsoever, however not once he committed something that might be seen as unjust or wrong. He was the epitome of justice and moral character that everyone recognised. Obviously, there were no perfect people and Julius was not either. Julius's looks were too lacking for a member of imperial family. Julius himself didn't care about the looks, he never felt that he lacked in the aspect of looks and even built a body of muscle mountain, which made him even more lacking in this aspect rather than giving him additional points.
When the Emperor received the news that his son was poisoned, he couldn't believe it. He immediately rushed out to see his favourite son and confirm it with his own eyes. When he got to the place where the doctors were trying to treat Julius, his body lost all of it's power and went stiff. He was shocked and despair overtook his mind. He felt like shattering everything to dust but couldn't move. His son's listless body was laying there on a medical bed turned all green. He immediately recognised the poison, because only one kind of a poison could turn the body green to this extend.
He couldn't be happier, when he learned that for some odd reason Julius's life was not in danger and his condition slowly was getting better. They used some extremely rare spiritual herbs, pellets and artefacts to treat his damaged soul, and after about a week the prince was able to move some of his body parts. During Julius's treatment, the Emperor in his fury stripped a few nobles who were responsible for the protection of the members of imperial family of their noble status. He could have killed them, but because he was well aware, that Julius had a habit of sneaking away for adventure not allowing anyone to follow him, he showed them mercy.
For the past three months the CIA was working without a second of rest. They have caught hundreds of enemy spies but couldn't get any information about the people who poisoned the prince. Logically speaking, it was impossible for anyone to accomplish such a thing without anyone noticing, even more so without any wounds or traces of monster energy, the only explanation was that the third prince drank the poison himself. Of course, no one stated the opinion aloud since it was even more rediculus.
Today however, was different from the past three month, since their HQ in the capital received a mysterious letter, saying that the head of the trading guild is the one of the people behind the incident. Armani Empo was working for the benefir of the Monster Empire for many years, he was amongst the people of the highest echelons of the Empire and couldn't be easily accused of such of crime. The didn't believe in what was said in the letter but still decided to report it to the Emperor.

The Emperor was sitting on huge throne made of purple crystals. They were the extremely rare Monster Manifestation Crystal which only formed when a spiritual monster reached a Body Manifestation Stage. The Soul Monster would manifest it's body in reality and might to start to undergo some extremely rare evolution. When both of these conditions were met, the excessive energy of the breakthrough would be released into the surroundings, and if the energy was of the highest purity, the energy would condense and form the crystal. The formed crystals would of the size of a fist. It could be imagined how many such crystals were required to create the throne.
Other than the throne, the hall itself was very eye catching. The word "extrovagant" was one way to describe it. Golden pillars amounted to hundreds, the floor was made entirely of highest grade pearls which were processed and joined together in such a way that they floor was perfectly flat.
When Emperor heard the report, he knitted his eyebrows falling into deep thought. Immediately after, two more people requested the audience. One of them was saying that the third prince expressed his wish to see the Emperor, because he felt something bad going to happen, and the other person reported that Armani Empo was going to visiting the prince's palace.
Emperor was always keeping an eye on his son's palace. Therefore, when somebody was going towards Julius's palace, he would immediately know. Emperor thought for some more and stood up from his throne.
Emperor knew that Julius's intuition was mostly spot on and he thought that he might have kept his intuition with him even after the incident.
"Let go, this Emperor wants to see what is that lowly sly fox has on his mind." – Emperor said in a deep commanding voice.
The Emperor didn't believe that Armani had something to do with the poisoning but knowing the person he might be just brave enough to take advantage of his son's current condition. If it was something small he wouldn't care, but if it really turned out that Armani was planning to harm Julius, he was full of determination to end his live in the most painful way no matter what good service he has done for the development of the Empire in the past.
The people who were present in the hall giving the reports immediately followed straight after Emperor.
