Chapter 2: He was a hero and so will be I.
Early in the morning when the sun only started to get to be visible, two girls in their 20-th were walking along a path between beautiful huge stone pillars that were painted into the colour of the cloudy sky, the flour was accurately done from flat white stone and was creating a harmony with the pillars. The girls were wearing your typical maid clothes and were carrying a basket each with similar clothes in them.
"Sugar, Caroline it seems the stupid third prince is following us, does he really think we can't see him! Why doesn't he sleep this early in the morning!?" – one of the girls facepalmed herself looking back with a corner of an eye. There was a man in his 20-th hiding behind a column running from the one pillar to another from time to time. But the stupid thing about the prince was that he was half exposed and didn't try to cover that half at all, as if he didn't know that they saw him.
"Jessica don't say something like this, if someone hears us, we are going to be in big problems!" – immediately replied the other girl. She continued – "It has been 3 months since the prince turned into this state. You have been his maid only for two month so you might not know, but before the incident where he was poisoned Prince Julius was actually one the best graduates in all of the Imperial University history, but what a pity, he is like this now, behaving as 7-8 years old child. Don't overthink it Carolina, he is just mis behaving like a child and doesn't mean any harm."
"Imperial University!? Oh my god, it is the place where only prodigies of the Monster Empire can study. Are you sure you are not exaggerating, Carolina? Just yesterday, the third prince stole the underwear of the kitchen chief Barick and waved it running around the palace shouting it is smelly." – Jessica was suspiciously looking at Caroline.
"Hahahaha…that was very funny... Barick should be beaten to death…there has a few cases where he actually harassed a few of our girls, he would never have been bold enough to do it if the third prince was the same as before, but now Barick can behave as he wishes, and we can't do anything about it." – Carolina replied as if remembered something good at the beginning and then disgusted look appeared on her face.
The girls were chatting and laughing from time to time, when the third prince all of sudden rushed at the girls and snatched the baskets from the girls shouting "catch me, catch me" in a childish voice.
"No prince Julius, there are maid's dirty clothes in the basket, please return it to us" – shouted after him Carolina.
"Return!? Why!?" – Julius looked childish even though he was an adult in his mid 20, to be exact he was 26 years old.
"Because good boys don't steel women's clothes" – sharply interjected Jessica, glaring at him.
"Hahaha, I am a bad boy, not a good boy. Stephanie said girls like bad boys." – replied Julius to the girls cutely smiling.
"Miss Stephanie is still too small, she doesn't understand it yet, girls like good boys!" – replied Carolina smiling and triying to look as honest as possible.
"Then if I am a good boy, would you like me!?" – asked the prince suspiciously.
"Yes...Of course" – replied the girls in unison.
"Then I'll give it back to you, but you have to kiss me to the cheek." – said the prince while being shy.
"Oh my… again!?" – mumbled Jessica while taking a deep breath.
"Okay…!" – replied the girls knowing there is no way around it.
The third prince had average looks, and no woman could sincerely say that he was handsome. He was not ugly but definitively wasn't on the handsome side. However, he was once one the brightest stars in the Empire. He was a genius that could be only born once in a thousand years. He was not arrogant even though had that air of royalty around him that didn't allow others to speak to him as an equal. About 3-4 years ago after he graduated from the best university available on the continent with the best possible results. Due to his nature that loved freedom, he would very often sneak out from the capital by himself and travel around the empire. Recently, it was happening more and more often and for longer times, but no one from the imperial family was bothered about it, since he could definitively take care of himself. 3 months ago, when he sneaked out from the capital again, all of the Monster Empire elites were shocked to receive the news that the famous third prince was on his death bed due to a very terrifying poison. However, a miracle has happened and against all logic the prince still lived. The bad news was that he lost his memories and only knew that his name was Julius, he lost all of his divine power but even more worrisome was the fact that he became mentally retarded. It was a cruel destiny when somebody who spent his life studying and training lost all of it in the blink of an eye.
The strangest part of it was the fact the imperial family didn't have a single clue who was the person who did it to him. The poison used was exceptionally rare and expensive. Only major powers on the continent could get a hold of it. But to able to poison the third prince, the party's strength was said to be unimaginable. The third prince's strength stood at the pinnacle of the world and less than 100 people on the continent could defeat him. However, if the third prince decided to run away from the battle, no one could stop him. Therefore, many members from the imperial family were afraid to pursue this matter any further.
The Emperor of the Monster Empire and father of the third prince on the other hand was doing everything in his power to find the culprits. He knew the personality of his son and knew he would never be involved into something evil. He knew that the prince was a It was a huge loss for the national strength of his empire and as a father he was devasted by the fact that his genius son lost everything he worked so hard to get but still as a father he was glad that his Julius recovered and kept his live even though he became mentally retarded.
The two maid girls just received back the baskets with clothes and with a slight reddish color on their cheeks were kissing the third prince's cheeks from both sides at the same time. They tried to do it one at a time, but the prince insisted for them to do it at the same time.
"Chmock" – with a very listless kiss the girls run away to their destination, list the prince does something else.
When the girls were no longer visible the supposedly mentally retarded third prince started to wickedly laugh, and then mumbled to himself.
"hahah…What a good start of the day, two beauties kiss, the plan was a perfect success!" – He had a satisfied look on his face, as if he accomplished something great. If people knew what was going in his mind, they could have immediately guessed that the princes Julies body was possessed by someone else, since such a pure person could not take advantage of girls like this.
[It's been 3 months as I have arrived into this world, I should stop pretending to be mentally retarded, I have just a few pieces of information left to collect for me to start to live in this world for real.] – thought to himself Evan, who took over the prince's body.
When he first woke up, he couldn't anything with his new body. He stayed in this condition for 2 days and slowly started to get control over the body. Because it took him more than 2 days, he thought that it would very unwise for him to act normal since in one the conversions between the people who came to visit him, he learned that there some very rare occasions where human body contained another soul and that it was the only theoretical possibility why he has survived. Evan thought that he might get discovered if tried to take over the third prince personality without knowing anything about him, so he faked as a mentally retarded person and started to collect information under the pretext of memory loss. Another reason was that he was afraid there were some people from the imperial family who were involved into this attack, and obviously they would try to silence him while he is powerless to protect himself. It was better to keep a low profile until he got a good grasp about his new circumstances. He tried to gather information from books but turned out they had completely different writing to his. The only choice left were other people and luckily they spoke the same language. Of course, he started from those who wouldn't suspect anything no matter what he asked them about, and the targets obviously were children. But when got to learn about the personality of the third prince, he was more or less on the verge of cursing. He had no good looks to boost about and would be of the people who would say that "only inner beauty is important" but then he himself was actually such a person…
Julius was considered to be a man with perfect character by many of his friends. He would never loose himself to anger, would never oppress anyone by his status, and even when a conflict was about to happen, he would always initiate the ending in piece. But it doesn't mean he had a weak will and didn't have courage to fight. It was quite the opposite, he had a will stronger than anyone, he had courage to fight against 10 people of the equal strength without any fear when he has defending the weak against the strong. People often would call a hero and especially this was the case with a small girl named Stephanie. The comment Evan gave about Julius was "Too perfect to be true, I do not believe such a person could exist, and then such an MC character has to be accordingly handsome, and look at me, just a random Johny's face, I rate him -1 on the scale of from 0 to 5. If you act like an OP MC, you have to look like the MC!".
Stephanie was 9 years old and was his second cousin. She was living in Julius's castle since he was allowed to come back home from the royal hospital. She was his biggest source of information about himself and without suspecting anything she would always give away all the information she knew. She was his fan and the two turned out to be very close to each other before the incident with the poison and she knew almost anything about him. Unfortunately, Julius hadn't told her about the reason why he would sneak away without anyone noticing. There was no progress on Julius's poisoning investigation, and Evan couldn't do anything about it.
Evan had a lot to think about and was not planning to give up this chance to have the second live, especially so when he had a very important goal to achieve in this world. The people from his previous world had sacrificed too much to give him this opportunity and placed a huge burden of a whole world's destiny onto his shoulders.
A few more days and he was ready to get rid of his mentally retarded status and start this live with a solid ground under his feet. His plan was already finalized, it would be the epic return of the hero with an upright character, some lives would end and some lives would be blessed, some would be experience shame and torture, others experience justice and delight.
Evan's now black eyes were full of determination as he said to himself – "He was a hero, so will be I. He had an upright character, so will be mine. He looked like sh*t…I hope they do plastic surgery in this world!!!"
