Chapter 4: Level Up
Xander wanted to exterminate those cowardly, weak snakes because he wanted to level up. Wondering what would his first level up reward him.
Going through the forest, Xander killed all the Shadow Snakes he could see. Even though they were weak, Xander lost a couple of minutes trying to catch the snake cowards who would flee after the first strike.
When Xander killed another nine Shadow Snakes a window appeared in front of him.

"This game system is stingy. Only 1 Attribute point for leveling up." Xander was hoping for something more.
But thinking that everyone else has to cultivate for days to increase the strength of their body and expand their mana storage, Xander didn't complain any longer. He doesn't even need those expensive medicine which would increase the speed of others cultivation. With one attribute point, Xander could increase whatever he wanted.
He was also happy that he leveled up for the first time, and trying his hardest to figure out what attribute to upgrade.
While concentrating on each stat, basic knowledge was being transferred into his mind.
Strength upgraded his physical power. So his bite would do more damage.
Endurance upgraded his health and stamina. So his health bar would increase by an unknown amount and he wouldn't get tired as fast.
Dexterity upgraded his max speed and acceleration. So his Shadow Slip ability would be more useful since it increases his speed by a percentage.
Intelligence upgraded his learning ability, max mana, and ability damage. But with no offensive abilities, this would be useless.
For his current state, Xander decided to increase his agility. This would help him out the most.
Since Xander was so weak right now, having more speed for escaping would help a lot. Also with speed he could catch up to Shadow Snakes even faster which would increase his killing speed. Another boon would be the effectiveness of Shadow Slip. With a higher max speed, the higher the boost from Shadow Slip will be.
Xander also checked his character window to check how much EXP he needed to level up again.

"Alright, just need to kill another 15 Shadow Snakes. Let's go try out this new speed."
Xander than activated Shadow Slip and made his way through the forest. Killing all the Shadow Snakes he could see.
After killing another 15 Shadow Snakes, it only took about the same time killing 10, because increasing Dexterity helped out a lot with farming Shadow Snakes. Another Level up window appeared. Increasing Dexterity helped out a lot with farming Shadow Snakes.

"Oh, what is this." Xander wanted to know what this Ability Level Point was. "Can you upgrade abilities too!?!"
Xander went right ahead and upgraded Shadow Slip. He also added another point to dexterity.

Upgrading abilities is unheard of in the Dragon Empire. With this unique ability upgrade, Xander could face off against monsters or beasts that have exactly the same stats or maybe even higher stats.
Xander was excited about his development that he started to farm Shadow Snakes even more. Even though it wasn't an amazing upgrade, it still increased the abilities usefulness. Once it became level 4, Xander would be able to use the ability for a long time without stopping if the cost continued to lose 1 mana per second.
The forest around the lake wasn't just full of Shadow Snakes, there were other beasts and monsters. There were Venom Snakes which were peaked at 0-star top tier. There were also Shadow Bears one of the strongest beast that was close to the lake. A 1-star low tier monster.
Xander knew he couldn't go against those monsters and beasts right now so he avoided them. This lowered his farming speed a little.
When Xander was killing for an hour he ran into a Venom Snake that was hiding in a bush waiting for its prey, and almost died because of it. Difference in tiers isn't a joke. With a health of 250 and mana of 300, the snake was leagues above Xander. But thanks to his upgraded dexterity and Shadow Slip(+3) that he recently upgraded, the venom spitting snake lost his prey.
Xander killed the snakes for another 2 hours straight while being careful so he finished when the sun was just about to set. Xander farmed non stop and only used his character page to increase his dexterity since he was mainly focusing on his surroundings. So he wanted some rest to check his progress.
