Mia worked the whole day doing her usual chores, though she had questions, she still had to work with her utmost effort. Dr. Canes also worked as if nothing happened and their day passed just like that. After work, Mia was called by Dr. Canes when they were done closing the shop.
"Mia, tomorrow is your day off. I'm sorry if I have to give you a day off on a Thursday but our Friday's and weekends are usually full of customers. I know young people like yourself would like to spend some time with your friends. Don't worry as we can schedule a day off for you and Bert so sometimes you can have the weekends as your day off." Dr. Canes said kindly while thinking of Mia's needs.
"It's not really a big deal Dr. Canes. I like spending my time at home. I don't really go out much to parties, so it doesn't bother me if my day offs is at the weekdays or weekends." Mia said with a shy smile.
"You're still young. You should live life a little more and don't regret it once you get old. Look at me, I spent too much time with animals that the customers are telling me to get out more and interact with people." The doctor laughed at his own words and his face was filled with a bright smile. It was as if he did not have any burden or worry in his mind.
Mia also laughed at the doctor's words. This personality was actually part of his charm. His dedication for his work might seem like a waste of time for some people as he spends most of his time with animals but it was something she looked up to.
"What are you saying Dr. Canes. You are still young to do the things you want. You can still go out and party with young girls." Mia jokingly said.
Though she also did not like going out to one as she did not enjoy loud and crowded places, she decided to tease the doctor who seemed to be feeling better.
The doctor laughed once more, "Maybe some other time. Well, take care of yourself when you head home. Goodbye." Both gave their farewells before the Doctor left.
Mia did not have to take another step due to a person waving enthusiastically across the street while standing near a car. He walked fast and approached Mia once he saw her going out of the shop.
"How was your day?" William asked with enthusiasm.
"It was fine," Mia said while walking together with William. William leads her to his car and assisted her to a seat. Mia felt like it was natural to seat beside William.
"William, how would you know if a girl likes you?" Mia started to ask.
William was about to start the car when Mia asked the question. It was so out of the blue that he was not sure how to answer her question. He began to wonder what Mia meant when she said her day was fine.
Pausing for a bit to think of a decent answer, William realized he had no one to base his answer aside from Melissa so he used her as his example. William spoke, "If the girl frequently approaches someone with vigor and is willing to dedicate her time to a man."
"Hmm… So what if the woman approached a man with tears in her eyes and tries to grab hold of him?" Mia asked seriously while looking at William.
It seems she was really interested in the topic and would not easily let things go.
William started to sweat with Mia's question. He remembered Melissa's action and it was somewhat the same with what Mia was saying, "Is she testing me? But she wasn't there when the whole event happened. Did someone send her a video of me and Melissa talking in my office? But I was sure the blinds were closed when we talked." William had these random thoughts.
"I think if the girl acts that way, then it is up to the man to make a decision if he will accept the girl's feelings or not." William thought his answer was the safest.
Mia held her chin as if thinking before saying, "I see, so it is up to the man to make the final decision. Oh, by the way, tomorrow is my day off. I remembered you asked me yesterday to tell you if I have one."
William looked into his schedule and found that he was mostly free since Melissa has not given him an answer for further discussion. He thought this would be a good chance to ask Mia out, "Do you want to go out with me on a date tomorrow?"
"Hmm…" was the only sound Mia made. William looked at her side and it seems she was still thinking of something.
"That was a yes right?" William asked himself.
He became bolder when he heard a reply and continued, "I'll pick you up at your house at ten." William's smile was so big that his sparkly white teeth were blinding.
Mia's only reply once again was a "Hmm…"
