She remembered that day clearly as if it happened just a few days ago. The day where her leisure life was taken away from her. Kasimon was a good and diligent girl. She was not a beauty on par with artists nor models but she was still a beauty pleasant to the eyes.
It was her sixteenth birthday, a normal day like any others where she came home from school expecting a birthday cake and her parent's heart whelming welcome at home.
"Mom, dad. I'm home."
With a happy tone, she entered her house after placing her shoe on the shoe rack beside the door. The house was dark since the lights was off. She guessed that her parents wanted to surprise her like her previous birthday so she didn't bother with the darkness.
As she walked toward the living room, she heard some weird noise. She didn't know what it was at first but then she noticed that there were actually a group of people in the living room, herding over something.
"Mom? Dad?"
Kasimon started to feel weird. Since the living room was quite dark, she couldn't recognize who these people were but from their silhouette she knew that she never met these burly and stout people before.
"Finally, the daughter is back. Turn on the light."
A hoarse voice reverberated inside the living room before the light was turned on. Kasimon now could see clearly the face of that person. She didn't know who he exactly was but she felt that he looks familiar.
A middle aged man with a knife scar on his forehead sitting on the sofa at the living room. In fact, Kasimon had seen this man multiple time at the shopping district. He was actually an underground money lender who always target poor families with daughters.
He was also a human trafficker, specialized in kidnapping young and pure maiden. His boss even had connections with the police, making it easier to cover for their murder and kidnapping case.
He stared at Kasimon for a while before he pointed his finger somewhere near the crowd. Kasimon's gaze followed the direction of his finger before she saw something horrifying.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRHHHHHHH!!! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDD!!!"
Kasimon leapt toward the bloodied body of her father inside a puddle of his own blood. Her father's body was already cold, it was already a corpse. Panicked as she was, she still noticed that the crowd of people she saw earlier was actually herding over her mother, raping her while occasionally hitting her. Her mother appeared very weak with bruises all over her body, as if her life was almost at its end.
"NOOOO! MOOOOOOM! RELEASE MY MOTHER!"
As if she was possessed by something, Kasimon rushed toward the crowd. She tried to get to her mother but she was kicked several time by that crowd. Her body was bruised all over before she was knocked unconscious by one of the men.
"Bind her. The boss wanted her pure and untouched."
"Okay boss."
Two burly man immediately bind Kasimon with the rope they brought with them. They were exceptionally used to this kind of job since it was not the first time they had done this. Their boss would swindle the parents with unreasonable debt before they made their move like this.
"Ugh, this girl is such a babe."
"Shut yer trap. There is already a buyer for this girl. If not, why would I come here myself to ensure the job done without problem?"
The guy with the knife mark on his forehead scolded his man who was eyeing Kasimon lecherously. He didn't want the product to be touched by these lawless men. He would be punished by his boss if that were to happen.
"Boss, this bitch is dead. Should I call the cleaner now?"
One of the burly men kicked the dead body of Kasimon's mother as he asked his boss for further instruction. Everything was decided by the man with the scar every time they carry out an operation.
"Yep. Tell the cleaner to do it quick. This neighbourhood gets busy in the evening. "
"Consider it done, boss."
Following their boss walking out of the house, all the burly men swiftly moved toward their van parked in front of the house. Just before the one who brought Kasimon out of the house entered the van, he was kicked from behind.
"Let my sister go!"
This brave little guy was none other than Tomiran, Kasimon's younger brother. He skipped his football club training today because he planned on celebrating his sister's birthday with their family. He would never have guessed that a group of unknown men was kidnapping his sister in broad daylight.
"Beat that kid."
Three men immediately surrounded Tomiran after they heard the command and they immediately started beating him mercilessly. Even after several round of beating, Tomiran stood mightily despite the blood flowing all over his injury.
"Whoa, what a tough kid. Take him with us, we can use him to kill some time in the ship later."
"Okay boss."
The boss complimented Tomiran for his tenaciousness. Because of that, he changed his mind and decided to take this kid together with them. Kidnapping one or two people made no difference to them at all.
--------------------------------------------
Kasimon woke up and realized that she was somewhere she couldn't recognize. She was currently inside a metal cage where there was only one light bulb illuminating the whole room. It was beyond gloomy all around her.
She observed her surrounding only to notice that this place was totally isolated. If not because she saw a rat passing by at the corner of the room, she might even thought that she was the only living thing present in the room. She even felt that the room itself was not stable, as if it was moving.
But again, it might just be her imagination. She was hungry. Her head hurting. Her legs swollen. She was bruised all over her body. She screamed every time she recalled what she just witnessed inside her house previously. She was depressed. Her life turned into living hell in less than a day.
"HELPP!! PLEASE!! HELP!!"
"ANYONE!!!"
Time passed as minutes turned hours. Kasimon lost track of time ages ago. Her voice was now beyond hoarse. She could barely talk, let alone shout for help. She helplessly held the metal bar she was caged in as she cried her heart out.
"Hu... hu... Help..."
"Any... one..."
"Hu..."
"Help... me..."
"Please..."
It was then when suddenly Kasimon heard footsteps closing in. She was bewildered at first as she thought that her end would be coming. Who else would come to her if not her kidnappers? With her current situation, there was nothing she could do except praying for a miracle to happen.
This was the very first time she prayed to god. She didn't even ask excessively, just for someone kind enough to save her from this predicament.
"Sis... you okay sis?"
Kasimon heard a familiar voice, a voice she recognize, the voice she heard almost daily. It was the voice of her younger brother, Tomiran.
"Tomiran? Is... that... really you?"
"Yes sis, it's me. Wait for a bit, I'll open up the lock."
Kasimon who was observing Tomiran felt her heart ache when she saw how bloodied her younger brother was. His face was swollen black and blue. His limbs was no better either. She was going to ask him about it when she noticed that there was actually a stranger inside the room beside them.
"Who... who are you?"
That stranger was Mays. He was wearing a full black suits together with a full face silver mask. He was actually at this place to trash the swindler who refused on paying his fee after using his expertise. Him being there was totally coincidental. He took the first flight from his home to this rural area just to teach them a lesson. Helping this sorry siblings was just a bonus since he was already here.
"It's okay sis. He is a good guy. He saved me and he even helped me to find you."
Mays who stood not too far from them had no intention to answer the question but Tomiran who was opening the lock replied in his stead. After he saw how Mays easily crippled those people at the port, his trust on Mays was exceptionally high.
Clank!
All three locks of the cage was now unlocked and the cage's door was opened. Kasimon weakly walked out from the cage before she hugged her younger brother.
"It's not my hobby to interrupt happy moments but we need to get out of here fast."
"Uh, sorry."
Both Tomiran and Kasimon apologized when they realized they were still in the enemy's territory. They would be in a pinch if they didn't leave before the enemy's reinforcement arrived.
"It's okay. Just be quick and follow me."
"Urm..."
"What?"
"I... I... can't move."
Kasimon hesitantly replied as she shyly looked at Mays. With how hungry and tired she was, it was normal for her to be unable to move, not to mention her swollen feet. Even though Mays was wearing a silver mask covering his whole face, she knew that Mays was a young man from his voice.
Asking a stranger to help her in that situation was too much for a pure maiden like her. Mays observed both Tomiran and Kasimon before he shook his head. He let out a small sigh before he approached Kasimon and lifted her.
"Can't be helped. Hold me tight."
"Oookay."
Giving the girl a piggyback ride, Mays immediately move out without making a fuss. Tomiran followed behind him as Mays led the way. Out of consideration of the injured Tomiran, Mays moved quite slow compared to his usual speed but they managed to get out of that cargo ship easily as they slip past countless empty cargo.
Only now did Kasimon realized that she had been shipped out somewhere far away. It seemed like she was not wrong earlier when she felt the room she was in was moving. Mays stopped moving after they arrived in front of an old factory at the corner of the dock.
"Wait here for a bit. Ima get us our transport."
Without waiting for their reply, Mays moved into the old factory alone and worked up on something. Both Tomiran and Kasimon stared at him without saying anything. It was quite lucky for them since the two of them were good students back in school. If not, they might not even understand what Mays was saying since everything he said was in English.
"Get in."
One hour passed by and the three of them were now far away from that dock. They were in a worn down jeep prepared by Mays before he came to that dock. Mays was meticulous with his plan hence both his arrival and departure was with different vehicle.
There were even foods prepared inside the jeep which both Tomiran and Kasimon immediately eat without reservation considering how hungry they were.
"Thank you for saving us."
Kasimon who was better at talking in English initiated a conversation with Mays. At the moment, Mays was not wearing his silver mask anymore revealing his youthful, typical Malayan face to the open.
"No sweat, it's just a small matter."
Mays answered nonchalantly as he focused his sight on the road ahead. He was currently driving the jeep. Kasimon often glanced at him in that one hour they were in the jeep. It was apparent that this young girl was quite interested in her saviour. He was her knight in shining armor after all.
"My name is Kasimon. I am from Cuyo Island, Phillipines. What about you?"
"Mays, Malaysian."
"Can you tell me where we are?"
"Tawau, Sabah."
Once again, Kasimon turned silent. She was now lost in her own thought. She never thought that her kidnapper already smuggled her out of her country. It was a big problem for her to go back indeed. Despite her young age, her mind was quite bright.
After being caged for almost one day, she already came to term with her current situation. She knew that there would only be problem around them if they managed to go back. Their parents had been killed and they just got kidnapped.
Obviously those human trafficker wouldn't leave them alone. Her only visible and plausible choice right now was to clung tightly at their savior, hoping for a chance of a new life here in this new place.
"I'll tell you this in advance that I can't help you go back home. I don't deal with immigration and I don't wanna do it. I can only bring you with me for now. You guys can do what you want after that."
Mays who noticed how often Kasimon glanced at him told her directly what he had in mind. He wouldn't mind helping them for a while but they need to survive by themselves later on. He would only consider taking them in if they proved their worth. He only helped them because he just felt like it, no particular reason whatsoever.
All this time, Tomiran who sat at the back seat of the jeep just stared at Mays without saying anything. He knew that it was not his place to say anything hence he kept his mouth shut. He just left everything to his sister knowing how dependable she was.
-----------------------------
Inside a tree house at the outskirt of MoonElf Dukedom, two figure were drinking roughly without care of their surroundings. One man and one woman, drinking and talking to each other without any reservation. They were drinking the famed Dragon Blood Wine, one of the most expensive commodity in HeavensTale.
"Did he mention when he will be here?"
"Nope. We can only wait."
"Haha, as always."
"Yeah."
These two were Tomiran and Kasimon. Apparently, Kasimon already grouped up with the rest of Misfit Squad members as they awaited their further order while waiting for Mays's group and The Alliance's army to come.
"If he tell you to sacrifice yourself, will you do it?"
Out of the blue, Tomiran threw a deadly question.
"Obviously I will. My life is his since the day he saved me back then at the dock."
Without hesitation, Kasimon answered right away. There was resolution in her voice, showing her unwavering determination.
"What are we to him... you think?"
This time it was Kasimon who asked.
"What else? Friends of course. We graduated from being his lackey one year after he saved us."
"Just friends eh. Even after spending years with him."
There were trace of sorrow in her tone. She was after all the woman who spent the longest time with Mays. Kasimon turned silent right after that as if she was reminiscing about something.
"Tch, save it. It was good enough to be acknowledged as friends by him. In fact, he didn't even have more than ten people he could call friends."
"For real? That few?"
"Haha of course. But even as friends, I bet you would offer your body if he asked for it OUCH!!"
A strong slap at the back of his head made Tomiran spilled the wine inside his mouth. It was his fault anyways for touching that taboo topic, talking about the relationship between his sister and Mays. Kasimon once again turned silent right after that. Being drunk was always the best way to reminisce the past.
"Eeeeh, wait. Don't tell me you guys already done it?"
"We did not, idiot. I regret it though."
"You regret it? Don't tell me you actually turn him down? For real? OUCHH THAT HURTS!!"
Once again, Tomiran received a strong slap at the back of his head. This sister of his was quite violent when she was drunk.
"Am not telling you anything about that. Heh."
There was a time back when Mays's previous girlfriend suddenly disappeared from his life, the girlfriend he spent his four years of his university life with. God knew how depressed he was at that time. He even turned berserk for one full day, trashing his house into rubbles. If not because of his uncles and cousins rushing over to subdue him, nobody knew how big the casualties would be.
It was the next day after his rampage that Kasimon came over to check his condition. Mays was defenseless, devoid of emotion. Even Kasimon felt her heart ache when she saw Mays like that. She respected Mays from deep in her heart.
Mays was the best man in her eyes. True Mays was not as gentlemanly as those depicted in televisions nor he was well mannered like a scion of some nobility. But Mays had his own charm. His casual routine was easy to get along with. His petty attitude was amusing in its own way.
His overprotective nature was something she experienced herself many time already. Yet the current downcast Mays was something she never saw. Mays was always a proud young man. He could even trash a local tyrant if he felt like it. But now, he was in this sorry state. Kasimon couldn't even say anything when she was in front of the current Mays.
She couldn't forget how dejected Mays looks like when he looked at her before he asked her to accompany him in bed. She left after a resounding slap landed on Mays's left cheek without any words. She would love to be with Mays if that was what Mays really wanted but she didn't want to be a mere replacement. She had her pride as a woman.
"That girl Beatrice, I'll kick her ass if I ever meet her again."
Kasimon muttered before she chugged down more wine to calm her raging heart.
"Beatrice? That name kinda rings a bell."
"Its nobody. Forget it."
The incident regarding Mays's former girlfriend was one where only a few people knew of. Not even Tomiran knew about her. The only reason why Kasimon knew was because Mays asked for her opinion once about a suitable present considering that Kasimon was a girl herself.
"Is it? I smell something fishy going on hehe."
"There is nothing to it. If you ever mention that to Mays i'll beat you until you forget everything."
"Haha okay. I'm just joking."
Just like that, the two of them spent their night reminiscing about their past and how grateful they were toward Mays. There would be no Tomiran and Kasimon of today if not because of Mays.
