Chapter 39: Dominic the Omnipresent
The current capital city of Durahel Kingdom was literally non-existent. It was razed beyond recognition by both the spirits army and the demonic beings. Even the strong city wall was no more in sight. Nobody knew how many humans managed to escape the tragedy with their life still intact.
Mays was sent flying quite far away after that combo attack. As for Alakan, he was reduced to dust in no time. He received the pincer attack of both Mays's and Ria's ultimate skill's combined head on. There were also the additional meteor shower adding up stacking damage on top of it.
"That attack from before… what happened?"
"It's way too overwhelming. Who are those people?"
"And that army! What is that army?"
"It's a celestial army. The army of gods!"
"They're so strong. Not even the empire could have an army like that."
The survivor of the wyvern knight squad had long before entranced by the fighting prowess shown by this unknown army. Those demonic beings couldn't even put up a fight as they got killed left and right effortlessly by the army. As for that last attack from before, they couldn't even think of anything comparable to it.
"Say, do you know who those people are or which army they belong to?"
Captain Romanov knew that wondering about it by himself wouldn't get him anywhere so he asked someone who knew.
"They… they're Lady Ria's spirit army."
Aloha tried her best to answer the question. She still felt awkward every time she talked to someone else.
"Lady Ria? Spirit army? This powerful army served a person? Where was she from? Which kingdom or empire she served? "
Question poured out from Captain Romanov's mouth one after another. He just couldn't hold himself back. He didn't even know what a spirit was, let alone a spirit army.
"I… I…"
Aloha was flustered by the sudden barrage of questions. She didn't even know how to reply. It was then when someone step up for her and reprimanded their captain for his thoughtlessness. A fairly handsome blonde around mid-twenty of age. He was one of the lieutenant of the wyvern squad.
"Stop that captain. She couldn't answer you if you asked like that. Calm down for now. And you esteemed lady, can you tell us more about this exalted Lady Ria you speak of. Anything you think of will do."
"Tch, fine."
Captain Romanov clicked his tongue at this knight who interrupted him. He still agreed to his suggestion though.
"Emm… whatever I thought of?"
"Yeah. Anything."
It was true that talking to this new guy with a handsome face and friendly manner was easier compared to the fierce looking captain. At the very least, that was how Aloha felt.
"Those… those people are Lady Ria's personal army. They… they come here to help my master, Sir Mays. Lady Ria and master are… are… lovers. They helped each other every time."
"That… that last attack from before, it… it was master's and Lady Ria's signature combo attack."
"Personal army? Combo attack?"
"Shut up for now captain. And where do they come from and what are they usually called?"
As always, the captain couldn't contain himself whenever he heard more about them. He just couldn't believe that an army this powerful was under the beck and call of someone who had nothing to do with any kingdoms or empire's military.
"I… I don't… urm…. Ya… master and Lady Ria are what you people call godkins. That… I… I am sure of."
"GODKINS???"
Not just Captain Romanov and that blonde knight, almost every single knight nearby who listened to Aloha shouted in unison. Obviously they couldn't believe what they just heard. Godkins were after all, being of legends. They were even rarer than dragons itself.
"Then… then… you're saying that godkins are real?"
This time, even the blonde knight stuttered when he asked Aloha for confirmation. After everything that happened, normal people would believe right away if they were told that the army from before was god's army. Their overwhelming power was just out of the human realm.
"Err… they…"
"Of course we are real, dumbass."
Ria interrupted before Aloha finished her line. Beside her was Mays, bruised all over. He even need to borrow Ria's shoulder to stay standing. After the huge explosion earlier, almost everyone got sent flying away from the battlefield. Ria with her high defense forced herself toward the center of the explosion just to grab Mays.
After an explosion of that calibre, even an over maximum resistant couldn't cover Mays from all the damage. In fact, the resistance only applied on magical force, not physical one. Rubbles and stone pieces which flew all over the area damaged him severely.
"Hey you, heal your master."
"Ahh MASTER!! Greater Heal!"
Casually ordering Aloha who seemed clueless, Ria observed the surrounding Knight who stared at both her and Mays as if they were some rare specimen. She was obviously not feeling good when these people she knew nothing off started measuring her up.
"What is it? Got a problem with me hah assholes?"
With her straightforward personality, she would never stay silent if she found something not to her liking. Her question startled every knight around them. Several of them even stepped back due to fear to this unfathomable godkin.
"Ria."
"Yea?"
"Your real nature is showing you know."
"Ehh, ahh. Sorry, I need to confirm something over there. I'll be right back."
Being told that by Mays himself, Ria flushed in embarrassment as she moved away from the crowd. Truth be told, Mays was more familiar with this straight forward Ria. This was how she was back in HeavensTale after all. The fake Ria which fawned over him just felt awkward. But still, Ria tried her best to do so hence Mays said nothing about it.
"Sorry about before, she is just awkward with people. By the way, I'm Mays."
"I… I am Romanov. Captain Romanov of Durahel's Wyvern Knight. It's an honour to meet you."

Black Dragon Chasm.
Inside the very same room in the Black Dragon Palace where a meeting was held days ago, another meeting was currently proceeding. All four representative of the strongest dukedom in demon continent were gathered again to discuss about their current problem. This time, they were not just in the presence of Kelabu but the famed dark dragon himself, King Hitam Legam.
"Winged Associates had been decimated."
Silence. Utter silence.
That one fact reverberated in the mind of everyone present. The plan which had been going for years was now foiled by an unknown element.
"HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?!!"
King Hitam Legam was beyond furious. The anger from last time was yet to subside and now another problem arises. It was an even bigger problem than last time. How could he not be mad at this?
"Almost all Winged Associates members in human continent were killed. From the report we get out of the survivors, there was an army of gold ranked godkins numbering around one hundred attacking them."
The black robe elder who was in charge of Winged Associates started talking. The others were all observing him pretentiously, hoping for more info about the event.
"AND?"
"There were less than twenty survivors who managed to come back to demon continent. Even Zaramoth was killed in that fight."
One word from King Hitam Legam and the black robed elder immediately blurted out everything he knew. There was no reason for him to add oil to fire when King Hitam Legam was already enraged to this degree.
"Even Zaramoth?"
This time, several representative shouted in unison. Zaramoth was a famous figure in demon continent without a doubt. As one of the guardian ancestor of BiliardPegasus Dukedom, Zaramoth prowess was well known throughout the continent.
"No info to which organization they were associated with?"
"Sadly no. The highest chances are that they're from The Alliance. The Sentinel might have numbers but they lacked quality. They can't subdue Zaramoth easily."
"If it really is The Alliance, then we have a really big problem at hand for sure. They will surely investigate this thoroughly."
"At this rate, we might even need to ask Aqua Trinity to fall back. They would be destroyed easily if The Alliance come for them."
"Enough with this nonsense."
Once again, the room turned silent after King Hitam Legam started talking. Nobody in the room dared to talk back to him, not even his representative. They all knew how short tempered this dark dragon was.
"I'm afraid, you guys had it all wrong."
A voice came out from a big mirror inside the meeting room. A few seconds later, a figure came out from it elegantly. He was none other than Dominic, the current external advisor of Ancient Demon Empire's Head Minister.
"Wrong? Explain yourself Dominic."
Aside from King Hitam Legam, nobody else questioned Dominic's opinion. These people knew who Dominic was. Among the people present inside the room, only Dominic had the gall to talk back to King Hitam Legam. Reasons was, he was his biological grandson.
"Easy. It's because those people who destroyed Winged Associates were not The Alliance. They were not The Sentinel either. I got all these info from my trusted spy in human continent after all."
"Ahh… those normal boss which were scattered all over human continent? I see."
"Too bad one of them was killed, the one I placed in Mercia Kingdom. I suspects the one who killed this spy of mine was the same stray godkin which destroyed Winged Associates. For a stray to be this strong, he shouldn't be taken lightly."
"Erm… That's true."
Nodding in agreement, King Hitam Legam accepted everything his grandson told him right away. He was not skeptical at all even though the information he just heard had lots of loophole. As for the others inside the meeting room, they couldn't even refute if they wanted to. Not when they were in the presence of King Hitam Legam.
Dominic was not a pure blood dragon kin. His father was a dragon kin while his mother was a demon. Both his father and mother were not simple character either. They were both prominent character inside Demon Continent.
Despite being half blood, Dominic forcefully inherited both secret art from the dragon kin and demon kin through his will alone. He undergone insane training and suffering for decades before he finally able to master both secret art perfectly. With how promising this grandson of his was, King Hitam Legam favored Dominic more and more.
"Well, worry not grandfather. I'll send my clone there to sniff things out. It's been quite long since last I go to human continent anyways."
"Whatever it is, Dominic. I have faith in you."
"Hehe thanks, grandfather."
The current King Hitam Legam was cheerful. There was no trace of his earlier anger after he started talking to his grandson. In his eyes, this grandson of his was no doubt someone who would rise to prominence. His grandson might even surpassed a living legend like him. At the young age of two hundred years, he already stepped foot into the realm of gold ranked insane boss after all.
Dominic the Omnipresent.
That name was once a nightmare to every HeavensTale player back when the capped level was still seventy five. Dominic was supposed to be the second boss of the dungeon Tainted Mirror World. But due to his quirk, he could appear anywhere inside the dungeon randomly as long as there were mirrors nearby.
The scariest part of that dungeon was when Dominic appeared at the chamber of the other boss, forcing players to face two bosses at the same time. Even an elite party would have a hard time against that.
And now, in this world, this Dominic could move wherever he wanted as long as there were mirrors at that side. He still couldn't travel to the human continent with his mirror world ability though. The system prevented him from doing so. However, he could still send his clone over there nonetheless.

Hours passed since the battle at Durahel capital came to an end. Currently present in the middle of the devastated city was a group of human knight. With Captain Romanov in the lead, the other seven survivors were all sitting in a circle, surrounding the campfire.
Glug! Glug!
"Fuaaaaah! Nothing beats wine after a long day of hard work!"
"God damn true."
Despite being surrounded by rubbles all over, this group of people were eating grilled meat and drinking wine in a loud manner as if everything which happened previously had no effect on them.
"So captain, what should we do now?"
"Truth be told, I don't know either. Everything seemed like a dream to me."
"Let's just go back to the countryside and go back to being a mercenary. I've had enough of fighting demons."
After parting ways with Mays, these knight survivors decided to spend the night at the former capital city one last time before they leave. Mays respected their wish and leave them there by themselves. He did gave them a barrel of wine as a parting gift. They even managed to scavenged some meat nearby and it turned into a drinking bout soon after.
It was then when suddenly one of them noticed that several black dots were approaching them from the distant sky.
"What is that?"
"It couldn't be demons right?"
"Please don't joke like that. We are in no position to even fight one of them. The exalted godkins are not here anymore. Nearby cities wouldn't send reinforcement in the middle of the night either, they just don't."
Captain Romanov stood up and focused his sight at the black dots which grew nearer by the second. He then let out a relieved sigh after he confirmed what those were.
"Don't worry, they're just fellow humans."
The black dots on the sky was actually Princess Mintrina escorted by two small squads of Mercia Kingdom's Griffin Knight. After several hours of travel, they finally arrived at Durahel Kingdom's capital city. On closer look, there were also two wyvern knight of Durahel Kingdom with them.
"What in the world happened here?"
Even Princess Mintrina was shocked senseless after she saw the current condition of Durahel's capital city. Never had she witnessed a devastated city as horrible as this one. Not to mention that the city was turned into this ruins in just a few hours.
"Here! Here! Down here!"
Several knights on the ground shouted as the group of griffin knight flew passed them. Princess Mintrina who was in the lead immediately commanded the griffin knight squad to descend.
"Greetings. From the looks of these proud griffin, I assumed that you all come from Mercia Kingdom am I right?"
Captain Romanov was the one who started talking soon after Princess Mintrina and the rest of the griffin knight unmounts their griffin.
"Yeah, that's true. I'm Princess Mintrina, the third princess of Mercia Kingdom. These were all my subjects."
"It's an honour to meet you, Princess Mintrina. Your fame had long ago resounded at surrounding kingdoms."
Captain Romanov bowed slightly as he replied to the princess.
"Enough pleasantries. So, what happened? How come the capital was in this state? Where are the attacking demons?"
"Yea captain, please inform us. We wyvern knight of the borders need more information about this incident before we can move out."
Even the usually calm princess couldn't hide her expression when she saw how devastated the capital city currently was. This was totally on a different level. Even war between kingdoms couldn't produce destruction of this degree. The two wyvern knight who was together with the princess also asked the same thing.
"Everything ended a few hours ago. Two godkins and their spirit army laid waste to the demons."
"They already left though. They offered us a lift but we refused. Riding a dragon once was already a blessing for commoners like us."
"WHATTT?!"
Almost every sentence blurted out from Captain Romanov shocked the princess and her knights. Nobody would expect those things to happen though. An ultra-rare godkins appeared out of nowhere and they even offered a ride on their dragons. Nobody would believe it if they were told so. But again, that was indeed the truth.
Neverrain Mountain.
Ria fell into deep slumber right after they get back to SpiritSociety's headquarters. She fall asleep in Mays's room, on his bed. That long day of fighting really tire her out. Since it was his fault that Ria got caught up in the fight, he decided to just let her be for today. Mays had just finished his daily martial art training and was now cooling himself off with the cold night breeze.
All the spirits on the other hand were resting in their respective rooms. As for Mays, he was now contemplating upon the fight earlier.
"I've paid them back with interest. Sorry for everything, Miur."
Mays whispered to himself. He did achieve his goal which was to kill those demonic beings who caused Miur's death. But the sorrow and regret were still clutching tightly on him, dampening his mood. Revenge could never bring back the dead. Mays knew that.
And now, because of this event, he hardened his resolve to never care about anyone else, especially these weak beings who couldn't even protect themselves called human. Not in the mood to sleep, he took his time analyzing the possibilities of everything which happened including the special case of Zaramoth's humanification and many other small matters.
More and more mysteries of this world started to make sense in his mind but he still couldn't figure out the most important part of it. He needed someone with the same wavelength as him to interact and share these conjecture with.
"Gah, seriously. I'm going nowhere like this. Where are those people who always compete with me in Simulation War had gone to?"
Fed up with how his assumption and hypothesis which always came to a dead end, he really felt the need to have a conversation with those people. That night, he made up his mind to look for those people later on.
Among ten of thousands of HeavensTale players and hundreds of competent strategist he had fought against in Simulation War, there were only four people who he deemed worthy as his opponents. Black Death Stan, Tabletop Enchanter Aqua, Swindler Samurai Katou and Gambling Sage Chu Ping. These four had skills on par with him and they all had their own quirks which made them specials on their own rights.
The main problem was that he didn't even know the whereabouts of these people. Not even one of them. Stan was chased out of human continent four years ago. As for Aqua, she was the strategist of The Sentinel for now. But even The Sentinel themselves didn't know where she hide. She warned them not to look for her unless it was an urgent case on par with the Great War.
Swindler Samurai Katou never world travel. Nobody knew if he was like Mays who traveled into this world on later date but there was no information about him up to this day. As for Gambling Sage Chu Ping, he was a loner. He traveled the world alone, visiting one kingdom after another leisurely without any motive in mind.
